This must be the best thread ever:
Samantha, I need to ask you a question. 36.gif

Well, looking back it's always fun to read the old We're 10,000 members! threads.

the time I created the S-37 Vs. F-22 thread about a year ago, that thread spark a really good discussion not only about those two fighterjet but also other fighterjets too. 48.gif I wish I could back that thread but it's too old now. 15.gif

*Sigh*...I wish I had been on ST when that happened. 15.gif

I haven't been active on ST for that long, but I'd have to say that the early days were good, back in '03. We only had a couple of thousand members then and it was really fun. I can't really think of a specific moment as I always lurked and never actually got involved.

When ST hit 5,000 members, it was a big deal. I think there was a party and all. 3.gif

The proposal was also the first thing that came in my mind.

You peaple sound like that you think Simtropolis has passed its golden age and it is not as good as it was. Do you really think that?

I havent got any fantastic memories yet because I have only just joined Simtropolis. Doing my first post(s) in City Journals is my best memory so far.

A few things come to mind.

The Ry-Sam proposal is way up there, obviously.  The first Golden Llama Awards were a lot of fun.  Some might remember the Rush Hour giveaway almost 2 years ago.  There's a lot more but I can't list them all.

Simtropolis's trip to Maxis was a big one nobodys mentioned yet (seeing Dirk for the first time).

The Trixie Awards were great the first time around.  The proposal was amazing.  The Rush Hour Giveaway was pretty cool too.

Yeah, I definately do. ST's golden age was during 2003, or at least in my opinion. It'll never be close to what it was back then.

In fact, I come here less and less now because this place is so far from what it used to be. Although dirk has done an amazing job in making this a great site, everything changes and ST is no exception.

hehe, you guys are all so sweet!  I think my favorite moments on Simtrop have to be the Tiplick thread - which was quite a hoot, and had me in stitches when I read it! The trip to Maxis, the Trixies and of course Ryans very sweet thread  36.gif

There have been so many great moments on this site though, its hard to narrow them down to just a few favorites.

Ah, at last samantha herself commenting on this thread 9.gif. A VERY belated congratulations 48.gif.

And what exactly was the tiplick thread?? I missed out on a lot over the years 15.gif.

Yes, I agree with comdude's comments that ST's golden age was during 2003 and thereabouts. Undoubtedly, we've got way better BATs, los and modds now, but it has to be said that the general feeling of amity and fun was was more tangible back then. I dug up some old posts made by the admins and dirk in early 2003 and the posts were all so light-hearted. 48.gif

Even when I joined up, ST was still a very open and fun place. I only regret not sticking to ST when I could.

Ah 2003 was an awesome year for simtropolis. I remember there was so much going on back then. My best memory is the trixe awards and some of the great posts that were made in 2003.

not only was Rybolton's proposal to Samantha great, but it was fascinating watching the steps preceding...his freedom from horror before, and the dress on eBay.
there would also be the April Fools joke the year before this year, when Dirk had many believing the site had been taken over by EA, complete with angry resignations by most of the staff 17.gif
the exciting early days of the Lots, then the BATs...and the continued creations which continue.
the release of such terrain modifications such as the snow-cap, desert, rain, and cycledogg.

Im sure most people did but this look saves dirk some money because it doesnt require as many resources.

yea, april fools '04 was great fun18.gif

the golden llamas 2003 was very intersted as i had only recently joined,

i think the most recent highlight (apart from the obvious marriage21.gif39.gif)  is the recent influx in custom member labels, a lot of fun19.gif40.gif
