Nice... so I'm going to assume you're BATting the Town Hall/Municipal Building, or is it a drawing for one of the in-game buildings.  Come to think of it, it does look like one of the Residential mid-rises.

I like what I see...

Paul,

Long time lurker, first time poster! Just had to tell you how great your region looks. Going through your CJ reminds me of my drives down Highway 20 from Hamilton to the Falls! Now all you need are the winaries like we have in Jordan Station and Vineland!

Keep up the AWESOME CJ! 44.gif

Hey Paul,

I was wondering are you a Canadian or American Citizen? I'm sorry for asking if you have already answered this question. Also you have quite the imaginative mind. This is the most undistured game-play I have ever seen. But I will ask one thing. For the bridges in the digby area will you be using the bridge height modd? I ask this because the simulator places such high inclines that are totally un-realistic. Also maybe some of the lots by simgoober might add some spoof to your region. Give it some thought.

Anyway great job so far and congrats on coming this far without giving up.

If my memory serves me correctly, he's from Fort Erie, Ontario?

Paul did tell me he wanted to try his hand at BAT eventually, but that was a while ago.  Maybe?  Either way I can't wait!

    The Lancaster-Wentworth Municipal Building

Gosh, I hope I haven't raised expectations too much with the lead up to this structure. This is not a custom BAT structure, but rather is a standard medium-density building.

However, it is significant as this is the first time this interesting building was generated by the simulator anywhere in Digby. So I have featured it as something special. It will be tagged as historial (as are ALL buildings that get special mention in the journal) and will be there for some time.

Here it is, viewed from the east side:

    /idealbb/files/Lancaster-Municipal02.jpg

This building was built by the twin municipalities in what might be considered a show of force to the rest of Digby that Lancaster and Wentworth are up-and-coming cities that will need to be reckoned with!

Here is the front of the building:

Even at night, the lights are on as civil servants work late hours tending to municipal business.

You put more thought into a single building than most of us put into entire neighborhoods. 37.gif I always thought that would make a nice civic building - great job! 9.gif

Just what your quaint cities needed, a little concrete for variation. The building you chose is a great choice in that it still maintains some greenery in it. Can not wait to see what the neighboring residents will think...9.gif

I was at the barber shop the other day and I heard some old ladies talking about Meredith Bingle planning to sell her house. I think they said the traffic noise around the new municipal building was the main reason why she and Phillip are looking for a new place. Maybe even in the Wentworth??

Is that true, or are these just some old ladies' gossips?

Another great update, Paul. Your attention to detail is what makes this the best city journal. As always, I eagerly await your next update.

This CJ just keeps getting better! Although it proceeds at a very slow pace, the creative storyline brings it to the top. Great job.44.gif

Omigish! Dirk's Changed the Forum Colours!

Uh oh...Dirk has changed the forum colours...now the background of the post area is white instead of grey! Some of my graphics will be all screwy!

Hmm...let's see...anything with a transparent background will have to be reposted...fortunately, all of these graphics get saved in their PhotoShop format, so changing the background colour will be possible...but it will take some time...

By the way, did anyone notice I have changed the format of the newspaper articles? I am giving them a bit more dimension and texture, with drop shadows to make them look more three-dimensional. But, now that the forum color is changed, they look kind of funny...I think I will start with those.

Anyway, sorry for not updating in a while...I gotta work night-shift tonight, but might get to an update on my next four days off starting tomorrow (you gotta love the compressed work week schedule...I get four days off every four days!)

    Stay tuned!

In case you didn't notice he's also completely rewritten the site and debuted with ST 4.0. Also, the Trixies have been completed. You were nominated for several categories I believe.

I know I've said it before... but this is the most amazing CJ out there!

I can't help but laugh a little... only you, Paul, would worry about whether or not your newspaper shadows look right on the new forum!  Ahhh... the attention to detail.  Only one of many reasons for the aforementioned (isn't that a great word?) statement!

    Hey Paul,

Good to hear from you 5.gif

I actually hadn't noticed the 3D Newspaper effects before, but now that I went back to it, the Herald certainly looks better and more realistic, especially with that graininess.

I do notice that your updates now have a grey backgrounds... I hope it doesn't take you too long as we want more Digby! 18.gif

Gosh Dirk, first the signatures and now the colors! Perhaps he is the arch nemesis of Digby? 37.gif

Anyways, keep up the great work. 3.gif

You know, to be honest, I don't think it detracts from their impact at all. In fact, the color change provides the newspaper articles with a light grey border that makes them stand out even better.

At least, that's MY opinion. Great journal, by the way.

    Corrected Graphics

Yes, I know I obsess over things like this, but it's important. The Simtropolis Beta 4.0 looks great...it's a much lighter and brighter look (though I think I already miss the trademark greens, reds, and oranges which I actually incorporated in many of my logos...

    /idealbb/files/Old

    But that's okay...

As for correcting the background in the graphic (which I have done in the last few pages...go on, have a look) it is particularily important that I do it for the graphic on page 16...

    /idealbb/files/Composite.jpg

As you can see from above (or by checking out the full-size graphic on page 16) I need to match the background colour of the forum to make the elements look like they are floating...in fact, in order to cheat the 800x600 pixel posting limitation, the floating image on page 16 is actually built up of THREE graphics, one on top of the other! (Shhh...don't tell Dirk!)

Also, I want the drop shadows for the newspaper articles to appear to jump out from the page, which is done the same way.

Also, check out the map closeup on the bottom of page 16...same thing, the graphics float, and I've given the newpaper some texture...

Now, having looked at those maps, I suppose I should get to work on making that same map for the other cities...gosh, this is a lot of work!

i just relooked at the map on page 16, and i guess the white background is good, i can't remember it with the gray background, but i am assuming it looked somewhat similar, anyway after looking at the map, all i can say is, GTA. That map looks like something you'd see from a Grand Theft Auto game, i was looking for my safe house and a pay and spray, just in case the cops came after me. i love it paul, i love it.
