Back in 1923, Northland (located in upper Lake Superior) was a thriving country. Everything was going well for President Samuel Ester Rockwell. His modern day empire was doing great; until one eventfull May 17th 1923 when an extremist group of Perivahns (former people of the region) destroyed many building in the town with fire and guns.

This is a picture dating back to 1917 (the only picture found of the downtown before the disater)

SC4-test-pic-1.jpg

This here is a picture of the disater in action (photo credit to Sean Geoff 1879 - 1943)

SC4-test-pic-2-1.jpg

The disater destroyed 19 skyscrapers, 78 houses, and 31 public areas!

"It was like a living death" - Susan Eifle (quote found in an old newspaper)

Since no one could find a picture of the aftermath, Henry Thomas (1896 - 1950) painted this picture roughly 3 days after the fires were put out. Here is a copy of that painting.

Untitled-1.jpg

In total, 201 people were killed, and 311 were injured. No one was quite sure why the Perivahns did what they did, but it will sure go down in history.

Comments and constructive criticism welcome!

Welcome to the world of CJs. I am glad you decided to start your own. You have an interesting story... eager to see it develop. Pix seem to have a bit of trouble displayng properly. After you upload to photobucket, select the code labeled "IMG code" which is the 4th and last one. Then it will show w/o the text stuff.

nice effects, good story, plenty devastation. All you need for a good start to a CJ...priceless (sorry if you find that a bit cliche but..)

Plus you commented on my CJ I comment on yours, quid pro quo (i think?)

It has been 80 years since that awful day. June 28th 2003. Since the event, both groups of people (Perivahns, Northlanders) have been very, well, nervous? scared? confused? Both groups HATE each other! The city is sepperated into to 2 parts (Perivahns bigger, 80% are Perivahn) seperated by a wall.

One day, the Greater Perivahn Senior High and the Legion and Community center all get threats of bombs. So what do you do when you bomb threatened? The Perivahn police order out grenades to blow up water towers and windmills! The Northlanders can't take enough of this fighting so every stinkin one of them leave. The near 35000 Northland citizens flee to a near by uninhabited island group. They name the nation New Hilton. (Hilton was the greatest city owned by the Northlanders, 27000 people) Sorry, the name on the map is Zeeto, not New Hilton, but i will still use it)

    Northland-map-1.jpg

The Perivahns are stuck. They don't know what to do. They can't stay there in Northland, so they have to move out (half of it is destroyed and threats of bombs everywhere) The see a place mostly covered by trees, but one by one, more people start to move there. (I am using the New York map for this, i was to lazy to create my own)

    Northland-map-2.jpg

So that pretty much wraps this one up, I should have some early developement of New Hilton and the unnamed region of the Pervivahns.

You have great potential here, looking forward to more. Story sounds great so far too. As for the NY map, I used to use it for a long time. And its a great map, even for maxis. Keep it going!

Great start; interesting storyline. I guess you are going to show us how the two regions develop. It should be an interesting contrast.

P.S. I think you can edit the regions name in  its .txt  file in your SC4 folder

    Oh boy! An Update!!!

Ok, to start off, i am very sorry for the lack of an update in the last week or two.

The Northlanders make landfall on New Hilton and quickly set up a town. Soon, they add farms, hundreds of farms. Because New Hilton is and Island in the Superior, the land is very fertile. Most of the settlements in New Hilton are little groups of houses and shops in the middle of farm fields.

Sorry, but these are some pretty boring pics, but this is pretty much what the city is.

    Rockwell-1.jpg

    Rockwell-2.jpg

    Rockwell-3.jpg

Here is the biggest "little" settlement. The locals call this area The Big Bustle due the amount of traffic.

    Rockwell-4.jpg

The amount of $$$ these houses cost are about 500,000 simolean. The reason why theses house are so much is the get to live by me (well who wouldn't) and the great view.

    Rockwell-5.jpg

A final pic is the overview of the area.

    Rockwell-Overview.jpg

Hope you enjoyed the update, and i'm sorry about the boring pics.

Next time i will get some pics of the Perivahns and their country of Perival.

    Comments and Criticism welcome!

Wow, very rural lol. I really like the hilly area, but may I suggest something? Some trees would be a nice addition between the farms and some fences in different places, some little rocks here and there and on the shore would make it more real-looking. To avoid the elevations at the small houses, you could try to plop some grass lots at the lower streets first, then zone at the upper streets and let them develop. Mark as historical, bulldoze the grass lots and zone there. The houses should now corrispond to the terrain 2.gif

    Just some tips!

Anyways, looking forward to further development, as the start of your CJ was really promising,
