Great pictures! There's a lot of Simgoober there.

Good to hear that Lucida is so nice now! How much are houses going for, anyway?

Benedict: The illusion of the rotation! I've only got one AppleBOX in Lucida 3.gif And regarding the other typeface of Eliis Valley, I'm afraid numbers are not as easily identifiable as letters 9.gif

NMUSpidey: I swear you can make comics without using that typeface!!! 3.gif Thank you for your kind words, I always can renew my interest in SC4 just by coming here and reading these comments or be inspired by other Journals.

Shingure: Thanks! I will surely continue with some interesting (and sometimes not so interesting) facts of typography in this Journal.

Schulmanator: So you would like a place of your own in Lucida? I'm sure the local agents would be ringing you right now, just as soon as they can work out your disposable income! 3.gif Please look under the Lucida banner for additional information 4.gif

jjune4991: Welcome back and thank you!

    lucky7: Aie Aie!

edmonton_stinks: His residential mega pack is da bomb 9.gif Look under the Lucida banner if you're still interested in living there 4.gif

    lucidaheadlinezm4.jpg

Following some (namely two 3.gif) "requests" for a piece of personal real estate within Lucida, I will select several housing options that you will be able to bid on - on a first come first serve basis. As I have not figured out exactly what role this may play on this Journal, there would be no more than 5 places available during this first release.

I welcome any comments and suggestions as I truly believe this will add another dimension to this Journal, but may I ask that interaction between resident and city should still remain within the scope of the typographia and the typeface - for now at least!

So get set, and be ready to bid when I "open up" Lucida to the ST community in a few days time 4.gif

And now for a promised new feature of Typographia - Typography 101

As promised, here are four pieces of real estate that are up for grabs. Note that if it is larger than a house, it doesn't mean you own the entire tower, but you can choose which level you live on and what number/letter your apartment is - otherwise these can be assigned to you.

These places will be allocated in a first come first serve basis. But please, do not "bid" if you do not frequent these forums at least once a week - lest this idea dies a quick death from lack of action.

Keep in mind also that if this turns out to be a great idea, residential areas in the other cities will also open up. So if you like Lucida but don't like it that much, you should hold out a little while until I get to that city/typeface 9.gif Feel free to "reserve" (no guarantees though 3.gif) which city you would like to live in, but only for already revealed cities!

I'll most probably come up with little address bars for the new residents of the city, which you may place in your signature - you don't have to, and neither will you be "made" to link it to anything, but both is encouraged 3.gif

The houses shown will be made historical once the inhabitant moves in, however, this option will be removed after 5 years in-game time. So be prepared! Naturally, the next step with this idea will be to find a job for the new residents - in the next update I will include wealth-corresponding options (split equally between CS/CO and I-HT).

And to finish this rather long post, have fun with it and let your imaginations run wild! (but not too wild!)

The above may seem a distraction to the main goal of this Journal, but it is actually working to my advantage as I have decided to rebuild a large portion of Grotesque to avoid the same sort of problems that I encountered in Lucida. It's coming along nicely and I shall have an update of it within the next week. The only hiccup at the moment to trying to get enough of these amazing German BATs to grow!

    typographiarepliesheadloa3.jpg

Explosingsims: Glad you did! And thank you for your interest 4.gif

    Benedict: Haha, no worries!

    kelistmax: Thank you.

Callbat: It is a rather good typeface, if not a little overused 9.gif

    edmonton_stinks: Ready, Set, GO!

The Big Z: Thanks, hopefully it won't be too long before the next one is ready!

I will have to say that you are really creative. First, it was the presentation of a new CJ concept (emphasizing typing fonts) and now it's this great housing series. While it isn't something new, the ideas that you have for this after everyone has 'settled in' into their respective apartments/houses is pretty cool. Not to mention the great names you've provided for the streets and buildings. At the same time, we get to enjoy a bunch a nicely edited pictures of some very well-built areas. Now that's what I'd call a win-win situation. 9.gif

I'd like to live in the Front Row Lofts. I think I'll be able to manage living with edmonton_stinks. 3.gif

Well, I think the Packard Tower looks like a pretty nice place. Anywhere above the 4th floor is fine for me! I liked the informative bit a couple updates ago, also. This continues to be a very interesting cj!

First you will notice the new banner for Grotesque, then you will notice something strange, something that appears all too often in science fiction - time travel.

Yes, thats right, if the mayor had his time again, this is what Grotesque would have looked like. In fact, this "reality" is now so real that it has actually replaced the reality.

    Confusing?

Let's let the pictures do the talking for this update.

    20190622kq8.jpg

Harbour crossing ferry terminal built on a small, man made peninsula that also acts to protect the port against the rough weather.

    20191015gg3.jpg

The lawns on these gentle slopes are not only indicators to the wealth of the city but is a showcase to one of the most important exports of Grotesque - grass.

    20191024ve3.jpg

Another side of the city, another source of export for the city - oil.

    20191213bq5.jpg

A well hidden rural highway cuts through the city, this is one of several rest stops along the way.

    20320301ac5.jpg

By minimising intersections, the city has effectively reduced traffic accidents along some major roadways.

    20320309rn1.jpg

These reserved green spaces separate the main industrial sector from the less polluted commercial district.

    20320315bj0.jpg

Recreational boating piers have began to appear in the inner harbour, away from industrial ports and traffic.

    20320318lc8.jpg

The recently constructed Berthold Bridge, a monument to mark the entrance of the main harbour of Grotesque.

    20320407id1.jpg

An arterial overpass that funnels traffic to and from semi-urban areas everyday.

    20320411vy9.jpg

One of the most sought-after addresses within the city, the prestigious Aerezk Manor is home to a world-class restaurant and many influential decision-makers of the city.

    20320417ey5.jpg

Aspiring entrepreneurs snapped up a few pieces of land in this developing suburb and have transformed it with their bold architecture.

    typographiarepliesheadloa3.jpg

edmonton_stinks: you exclamation is granted! Hold tight for what is supposed to happen next.

SimsRealator: Thank you, and The Unicodes it is, lets see if we can find you a neighbour 9.gif

ky72x: A wonderful complement, thank you for the words Kyle. I will try to keep this Journal in the highest possible standard (that I am capable of!) And You shall be his neighbour, scheme away!

NMUSpidey: Thanks! I'll be coming up with your proper address soon, hold on just a little longer 4.gif

Excellent time warp... I love the color of the water. And the other font on the Ellis Valley money is Onyx. The official name of the current series of money is Onyx-Didot, after the fonts, but most simcitizens just call it the 'oval' series.

Glad to see ST up and running, such a shame with the vandalising of a fantastic community website - and even more for the countless great posts that may have been lost. At first glance it seemed my Journal didn't sustain too much damage, but further inspection confirms that longer posts are missing some things, they have just cut out at a neat place so that it was hard to notice.

But no matter, we will come out stronger and better than before!

Just before we do that however, give me a moment to say - ouch, index/credits page...

I'll leave the replies to the next update 9.gif

    lucidaheadlinezm4.jpg

Here comes the hard life residents of Lucida, you must now take up employment so you can afford to live in the city! And because the next part got hammered from the outage, I'll add it to here since it falls under the same banner.

There are still some spaces left in selected estates, below is a list (the number in brackets denote the available number of spaces):

    R$ Kause Housing Block A-D (1) - One Space

    R$$The Unicodes (2) - One Space

    R$$ Front Row Lofts (2) - Full

    R$$$ Packard Tower (1) - Full

As you have noticed, I have now place wealth indicators in front of the housing on offer, they are needed in this post so that the jobs will correspond to the inhabitants - so choose only jobs that match the wealth of your "home". I have also added a Government sector to better categorise the jobs on offer, this is denoted by the red stripes.

Below are the options in this release, as always, it is a first-come-first-serve basis, so bid away! I will also post in order of $ > $$$, there will be short descriptions below each photo.

Aw, too bad you don't have college history professor up there (my aspiration). I suppose I'll have to go apply to for the high school teaching job since I already have what is loosely termed as an "eductaion" job...

Your content continues to impress, very nice update farther up the page, also!

I have to admit it was a little demoralising having to fix some of the posts, but thanks (not!) to this flu, I've found the time to fix some things up. I'm only missing some of the replies that have been tagged on the end of posts, so I guess it ended pretty well for me.

But onto the real reason for this posts. Having spent a little more time over at SC4D during the outage, I've been inspired by some great threads on the RHW and the development of it. It was also about time to start a new city and keep the fun factor high, this is only a small teaser but hopefully I can renew yours and my interest in this fledgling Journal.

    typographiarepliesheadloa3.jpg

Benedict: I had to look up Onyx to see what it was! Would you believe me if I told you I demolished it all again 3.gif

nihonkaranws: Thank you, please do visit again 9.gif

NMUSpidey: Don't you think its amazing knowing exactly what you want to become? And as for Strong Sad, if it wasn't blue it would be right on the money - I never quite got why he has elephant feet though 9.gif

    joannaheadlinetd9.jpg

Descriptions of the typeface and city will come in the next update as it becomes more developed.

Clever use of the land bridge, man it looks great. The amount of flora used in Joanna is perfect! It's a lot, but not overdone, so it looks really nice. Great RHW interchange as well, I like how the loop tunnels under the highway instead of going over it. Uniqueness at its best! 4.gif
