Nice job so far.  I can see that you've linked the Toronto Islands with a bridge, even though that's being disputed right now if it should be built.22.gif  Keep up the great work, I like how it's turning out.

Unfortunately the region map doesn't go far enough East to show the Zoo...Too bad, it would have been fun! Too bad they've torn out the monorail ride. It was far too expensive to maintain.

Hmmm, great Toronto region!! I've only been there once, stayed in Burlington. Nice city, I hope to see the progress of this region!

Although i have to disagree with that whole "centre of the universe" thing; i reckon on Chicago IL. 9.gif

don't listen to those people davez, I think it's quite clear that Toronto is the centre of the universe 2.gif

Since Mississauga won't be part of the region, I guess Brampton won't be either. It's a shame, since I doubt I'll be able to find a Brampton area map to recreate the city myself.

Keep up the good work.

I have done some deep thinking. If the universe goes on forever and is infinetley big, then any point in the universe could be considered the center. Toronto is the center of the universe. Ethiopia is the center of the universe. Italy is the center of the universe. New York is the center of the universe. I say this because I believe that the universe goes on forever. Good city, by the way.

More updates as promised...

Latest region view...I've been working on the Bloor-Danforth area (lots of cool bridging options across the Don Valley):

/idealbb/files/Dec 7 Update - 2.jpg

And a closer view of the uptown area (from Dundas to Bloor):
/idealbb/files/Dec 7 Update - 3.jpg
I used the US Capitol as the Ontario Parliament (uggh) and I downloaded the Giga Mall from the LEX for Eaton Centre.  I wanted to the American Museum of Natural History as the Royal Ontario Museum, but it wouldn't fit.

Enjoy!

This is great, I live in London actually and go to Toronto all the time and you've got all the scales and everything down really well. Keep it up!

The scale is pretty close to correct. I have found that the street orientation isn't quite correct. They should be a oriented a bit more to the west. I guess I'm taking a bit of artistic liscence. 1.gif

I worked on the U of T area around Spadina last night.

I've laid most of the major roads/rails/subway in the downtown area now.

I'll post an update tonight.

Clearly, New York is the center of the universe. Toronto is, however, the centre of the universe.
Problem solved. Now on to peace in the Middle East....
(On topic: the region is looking good. Maybe you can get the Toronto convention bureaue to sponsor it, since it makes me want to visit the real thing.)

Looks great so far! I'll be interested in seeing what you use for City Hall. That'll be tricky.

City Hall is going to be tricky...anyone have any ideas about what I should use?

Right now I'm using Seoul City Hall Landmark because it fits in the space. But Nathan Phillips Square and the modern City Hall are quite unique looking.

    Amazing!9.gif Looks great.
One question; are you plopping the buildings or letting them grow? And are you making all the roads exactly as they really are in the real city?

I've just started working seriously on my version of Toronto. Don't think it'll compare3.gif, but I'm trying anyway. Right now I'm just working on the road system, which is really tedious. I've fully "road-ed" about 4 medium maps.

I'm trying to keep the road system as accurate as possible...

I've been using the small shops plop sets available on the LEX...they're GREAT!

Other than that I've been letting it grow.

It would look cooler with trees.  Any shots of Brampton, where my Uncle lives?

    SC4, Forevermore!

Currently preoccupied with architecture school...lurking with caution.

I'm from Brampton too. Will it be in the region? It looks like it doesn't go that far over... I'm from the far north of Brampton too, which means I probably won't get to see my simhouse

Imagine if you can get that ugly(I'll admit it 3.gif) OCAD building instead of the regular college building. However I think the density is not correct in some areas. Like Bathurst and Dundas the zoning isn't even right... where there is an apartment building, it is supose to be a library and community centre, and apparently I am living in an apartment buildings at Beverly and dundas and not a house..23.gif Oh well... 2.gif
