2008 august 25, construction starts at the site of as what will be known as Downtown Brighton in a year.

    brighton30dec8912063634yi9.jpg

Two months had passed since construction started, residents living close by filled out a complaint about the noise, and requested mayor to either cancel the project, or finish it in another 6 months. City council decided, canceling the project would make Brighton's shaky economy to plummet even more...so they requested workers from neighbouring town of Lakeshore to help them finish the district as soon as possible, or maybe even before deadline.

2008 september 30, thick layer of fog laid upon the city, making construction even more difficult, with already 9 days behind deadline, architects worry that the 67.5 million project won't finish in time.

But they were wrong, City Hall, Brighton Shopping Center and 7 other commercial buildings were opened on the day of 06 march 2009.

Stay tuned, as tomorrow Brighton develops a new residential area, and first bus stop revealed to the public...

Beautiful landscape, very good use of the trees... Mhmm, the church on page one must have a really good connection to above- I mean, the huge satellite dish around the corner... lol

Great construction sites, I like them very much!

    Looking forward to more,

WHOA! I imagine the mayor went through a lot of NIMBY complaints to make that happen. I'd have built it closer to the train station for convinience factors; i cant see visiting buisnesspeople walking through small-town streets to get to their hustle, bustle modern downtown office. Denser development should begin near the train station next. Great start and really believable, love the feel and images. Ill be watchin this one

Very nice. It must have been a hustle to have that done in just one year. But they did it.

I don't follow many CJ's "From the start" (Due to me "limping in" half way!) but I've caught this one early, and I'm fully intent on seeing it through.

Excellent work so far, great pics, great sub-story.

    Keep up the good work.

A really great small town SCD. I've never been able to create realistic rural downtowns because of some mad rush I have to zone everything medium density.

PS: Change the title to "Why therealcdg is leet"

if you want more people to come into your Cj you should have a better name like Mrighton metro Area or something

The birth of a city isn't very eye catching....

Great work so far, that's a beautiful downtown. I also love the attention to detail that you put in to your country side.

Just to throw my two cents in for the name change, "The Birth of a City" is unique, keep it that way.

    Last Update!!!

Brighton is my first CJ, I planned 5 updates, so basically this is it...the end

The town has reached it's limits.

    2010 may 9:

    Residential: 13.457

    Commercial: 5600

Industrial (water treatment plant, power stations): 160, agriculture: 11

2010 may 9, the colored Tower of City Hall:

    brighton31dec4212061430se0.jpg

Due to low land prices, Mayor decided to transfer the much needed money from the city's reserves into the account of famous engineer Lola Duff, to finally renovate Brighton Park.

    brighton11aug9312063835rc3.jpg

The fairly new mixed use borough of Brighton:

    brighton3jul97120638519gt3.jpg

    And that's it...

    No more updates.

Another CJ coming soon, stay tuned...

And thank you for all the replies, and comments.

    See you...

The town is developing well, and I like it's natural landscape surrounding the town, absolutely stunning.

I second what Benedict said. I really like this CJ. I'm excited for your next one, though. I must say that the downtown of Brighton really is great. The fade into low density is perfect, and the little mall is awesome.
