KAOS BAT Progress Thread

I've compiled a little list of BATs/lots I would like to make. Which one of these would you want to see in-game the most?

cotton farm (I-r)

tobacco farm (I-r) done

soybean farm (I-r)

marble slab creamery (CS)

gamestop (CS) done

victoria's secret (CS)

cigar lounge (CS)

pga tour superstore (CS)

art gallery (fictional) (Civic - Education museum function)

hallmark store (CS)

ups store (CS)

guitar center (CS)

Fry's electronics store (CS)

oxy-brand chemicals (I-D)

citgo refineries (I-D)

(If any of these already exists somewhere then let me know and I won't bother)

Also, I'd like to know if you would like these to contribute to reward chains (and I mean the full-on requirements kind of rewards, for example, you would need tobacco farms and multiple cigar lounges before you could obtain an upscale tobacco company like Camel or Marlboro, or you would need cotton farms to obtain a clothing manufacturer, a clothing distributor and then finally an upscale fashion design office building)

All of these are just ideas in the works that I'd like to get opinions on before I begin. Let me know what you think!

Spike345: Wall to wall isn't really my thing, although what I could do is create a shopping center consisting of a few of those stores wall-to-wall together on a large lot. That way we both win. =P

patriots_1228: That is a possibility, but if the STEX moderators say it's inappropriate than no dice.

lol, yeah, nothing inappropriate.  I think that you could have a Victoria's Secret, but without a large billboard.

An art gallery would be nice.

I would prefer if they were not part of reward chains, though being normal rewards could be nice.

kaos: Sure, just edit the thread's title to something more progress-thread-ish.

Scipio: My understanding is that you can, as long as there is not anything inappropriate actually visible. I don't know how much detail counts as inappropriate (if the entire body is 1x3 pixels, if that counts as naughty). PM an admin before uploading to see if it's appropriate.

This building is just something I randomly started working on with no real purpose or goal in mind. It's called the Wilson Plaza, and considering how infrequently I work on, I'd say it'll be finished in a month or two =P

This one is something random that I made, not based off of anything in particular. I dunno wether to make it a farm or a rundown low-wealth home. It's not done yet, theres still some minor details I need to work out, maybe add more roof junk, and then decide how I'm going to use it. Anyways I hope you enjoy this little teaser, let me know what you think so far, constructive criticism is welcome and appreciated.

Thanks Sim shady. Haha I don't think I compare to the great SG just yet, but makes me feel good you like the lots.

Here's one I just started earlier and it evolved pretty quickly:

I like it, but you really need to use splines and extrude them, rather than just making boxes. Anyway, good luck!

I did use splines, I only used boxes for the supports and the floor and ceiling.

Not true.  Alot of great BAT's are just boxes.

Looks good!  All I'd have to say about it is that the sign seems too dark, and the roof seems too bright.

First draft of tobacco farm drying barns:

I think it looks decent. Most of the pictures of tobacco farms I turned up showed the drying barns being nasty and run down. They use them to hang the tobacco up to dry and they are really the only buildings on tobacco farms other than homes (if even that). This will be the actual farm lot and I'm working on the fields now.

EDIT: Here is a couple of pictures of the working first draft of the farms. I'm not sure what else to do with it, but I don't want to release it until I hear a few opinions on it, so tell me what you think:

Thats a good start to making farming things but i think you need to make the roof overhang a little more on the sides.Most of its pretty good and into almost the right scale from my eye.

Make sure to have shadows enabled in SC4, it helps you see how things fit together on the lot.

Here's a little project me and my friend played around with last night... we have no idea what it is or what its going to be but here are some pictures of the evolution:

The rail looking thing at the second floor in the front is going to be the fence surrounding the patio... unless I decide to make it into something else. There will be some lights, tables, chairs and I'm not sure what else to add. This thing started off as what was going to be a one-floor clothing shoppe, but it ended up looking kinda like a hotel, so I figured I'd make it a medium sized hotel with a resturant. I might add a big hanging buildboard to the side with lights and stuff that says "Fine Nine Feline Inn" haha. Sleep deprivation came up with that name and I think I might make a whole series with that name. (sometimes I think too far ahead.) Anyway let me know what you think.

I would like to see a cotton-production chain, from cotton fields and farms to the textile mills.  I'm not sure what a third step could be.  Maybe a denim jeans factory would do.

Speaking of which, I wonder if there's a Levi's industrial out there . . .

What is the likelihood of the tobacco farm being built? I zoned exactly 100 farms, and got nothing but Pumpkin Acres. Does it require water? Is there a certain size plot of land that you need? The readme doesn't say anything about growth stage. I like the pictures, and if it would grow, it would break up the boring standard textures for farm fields.

I'll be spending  time improving on my BAT skills in the next few months, as I am a perfectionist and after looking at some other BAT threads I feel that my material is sub-par and I should practice some more before releasing anything. I'll still post pictures to let you guys know what I've been doing, but for now there will be no new releases.
