Sffl: Dilapidated buildings? Poorly-positioned bridges? I really don't see how that island is staying flat, what with it being completely weighted to one side - put some towers on the other side of it! Also, I spot an error with one of the intersections in the top-left corner. Shame. -3/10.

@Duke of York: While I admire your deviant bucking of the overbearing "realistic" trend so often parroted amongst the community with this colorful display, I must admit that your attempt is far too brazen and not even the most powerful of hallucinogenics can make anything in reality resemble your "city". -10/10.

@steelersfanforlife: While a noble attempt to avoid the awkward transition from hi-rise to low-rise, such an "unrealistic" use of canals really only highlights the problem more, not to mention that half of the canal island is low-rise itself. Unfortunately, that makes it a -5/10.

Dilapidation? Bring it on!

Honestly, I shouldn't be discouraging dilapidation when so many of my wealthier residents move out so quickly...

What, no freight stations? And whats with that odd one little square of industrial zoning up on top there? I am terribly disappointed with this. 3/10

Random road-street transitions, a level crossing on a major road, roads that spontaneously end...have you not heard of the NAM?

I would hate to drive in your city. -8/10.

Purple houses? What is this, Oompa-Loompa Land? And why do the driveways hit the corner of the house? Are you trying to kill someone there?

-6/-10.

And now for mine:

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

What's that crap, Archean? Big, long, straight avenue ripping through the landscape like a thong up someone's butt? Perhaps a nice tsunami from the depths of that horrid water texture you used can rise up and wash that big lump of fail you call a "city" away. -9/10.

I like this thread. 4.gif Now do me. 3.gif

33.gif ooh dear god.... AJ, i hope you have money because i am going to sue you for my loss of vision. perhaps it was the fact that the city has 8 freaking rail stations within a kilometer of eachother 28.gif. im not even going to mention that THEY ARE MAXIS!!! 18.gif oh my, was that my outside voice?? if i lived there i would jump from the top of that ugly and horridly placed condo tower. i would then die painfully as i struck the NO ROAD ACCESS ZOT on that annoying apartment block. unfortunately for me, though, zots are made of rubber, causing me to fly back up 46.gif and split my head open from the rock-hard UDI icon 14.gif12.gif . who knew that UDI icons were made of lead? well, at least then i wouldnt have to look at the cloverleaf interchange witch is always a parking lot due to poor planning. oh yeah, before i ascend to the heavens, i should mention the swath of dilapidated buildings.... 32.gif -7/10  i expect better (or worse??) from you. 3.gif

EDIT: and in case youre wondering, i threw my signiture out the window with this one! 40.gif

@ astronelson: One street going to that massive area? And that place has more trees than Milton Keynes! -6/10

@ Black Dragon: Yeah, why have you got level crossings there? Also, you obviously hold the world record for the shortest and stupidest train service! And why isn't that middle avenue connected to the highway? -9/10

BTW, love the thread. Slating things makes me feel a whole lot better...!

Right then, I don't feel it's right to slate pictures without putting myself up for a roasting, so here goes...

berateoneimagemk.jpg (And no, it's meant to be like this, so saying it's underdeveloped doesn't count.)

Now slate away!

@Ephemeron: Do you honestly think the people in that center farm would be able to pay for that shiny new International Harvester with the profits from that tiny field? They obviously stole it! You're harboring criminals in your city! -2/10

Sidenote: I'm really pissed about this one... especially since I didn't take advantage of prop families...
