ilikehotdogsalot.

I give you a -10,000/10 for showing a fake city. Eyecandy is not appreciated in my book. Custom work is.

And don't get me started on the traffic, textures, overly huge picture and poor zoning.

10-year old: "Mum, I want to go eat some snacks!"

Mum: "No, son... You may become epileptic from the repetition of that snackbar, and there's a serious hazard of breaking your back when you fall off the foundations that they used..."

10-year old: "Pff, I wish Mayor C. ToTheMax knew how to attract more architect and how to level his ground... If I were a judge, I'd rate him a -9/10.."

City2TheMax.

Well let's start with the obvious.

-TOO MANY TACO BELLS!

-Zoning on Slopes and Hills

-Poor lighting

-Picture's too small

and I'll die trying to outline more things.

All in all, a -10/10 is fair.14.gif

Anyway, chew up, kill and spit out more of my images.44.gif

sEAhAwk fAn121, This is easy:

-Too bright (in addition to too many lights)

-Bad idea of a Air Force Plane in a CBD

-The pond's dirty

-Zoning on Slopes

-All that light and no streetlights?

-The lack of any life

I also give you a -10/10.

i won't berate MAXIS92 simply because scale 0 to -10 score isn't enough for his pictures

esthermyla,

first that comes to my mind is: did i come to a right thread? Is this kind of: "post pics with the most repetative buildings you can get" thread?

Yes, it's really great. People will absolutely LOVE to live nearby the loud stadium. What were you thinking? Placing residental zones nearby a stadium. Yes, thats really outstanding idea.

Oh and what is that in your top of the picture a little to the left?

An avenue that is long like 10-20m. Yeah, you probably have not heard about one-way roads have you?

Yea, why placing one way roads to fill the gap, when you have a 1-2-1 lane 10m road system that has no logical sence to be there.

I won't even comment on Bad transition you have made from hi rises to like ... "nothing"

-8.5/-10

sEAhAwk fAn121

tell me the point of all those lamps on the top of the picture

nothing else from me because you didn't give us really big shot from your city to blame stuff.

Ok, first thing's first.

-Even NYC, Chicago or LA isn't that bright at night.

-Not if one of your "deliquent" sims decide to get in and drive it into your water or skyscrapers.

-Well it is. All I see is brown.

-Haven't you read the ratings above you? What if a mudslide occurs?

-All you have to do is provide power

-Well at least the traffic and Taxi's did make an attempt to add life in the city.

esthermyla:

-7 out of 10

-Weird Zoning

-Repetitive Maxis Buildings (Wren and Vu Blue Denim).

-A Cemetery in the CBD.

-Lack of any life

I will say this, the Green earned you some points.

Thanks for the berations (beratings?) everyone! The taco bells are grown, without night lighting for whatever reason...

Maxis92: Feels like the new LA, suburbs with a sudden downtown. And the grids! So many grids! -8/10
Esthermyla: You couldn't at least get rid of the zones before posting a picture so horrendous? -8/10; the stadium saved the picture
sEAhAwk fAn121: Where's the streetlighting? And the cars for that matter? Well, I guess the awkwardly placed plane makes up for the lack of traffic in that picture. -7/10

-all comments with good intentions of course 4.gif

And here's my new masterpiece *cough*not*cough*

-7/10. It simply just lacks any type of excitement. Too Sterile, even for a suburb. Not to mention the repetitive Maxis Buildings and boring waterfront. The Highway seems sort of pointless as well. However, the trees really helped you in terms of scoring.

Well, behold: Ghettosville.

I doubt you'll find anything wrong with it 3.gif

5f992524.jpg

Seriously though, I am almost too ashamed to post this.

sEAhAwk fAn121:  Got enough lamp posts there in that plaza on the top?  And why do you even bother to have roads?  It's not like your Sims are using them.

City2TheMax:  More like repetitous housing to the max.

Last three four five! pictures not counting the last one (sorry wwetom1, but it's all-or-nothing with me.  For the record, though, those canals are absolutely unnecessary):

Maxis92: Simply because I like picking on you, apparently 11.gif.  Obviously, you learned nothing from the berating I gave your last picture.  Pause border still there, toolbar still up, UDI icons still visible, image converter watermark in the corner...geez!   I wrote a tutorial once about how to break the grid...when that becomes avalable to the general public, PLEASE save it to your computer and follow it everyday.  And I love how your entire CBD is enclosed in an avenue square with suburbs surrounding on all sides.  Oh...and those blank zones are just oh-so realistic 21.gif.

-8/-10 - Nowhere near as bad as those three pictures from before, but nowhere near a level where I'd actually let up a bit.

esthermyla: No, I won't even need to do my worst for this picture.  It seems you have Maxis Buildings galore here.  That's not so bad, actually...if you do it right.  Which you didn't.  That zoning is so haphazard that I can't even tell where the commerce starts and where the residential begins...at least, not until, out of nowhere, the suburbs begin.  Or the W2W buildings...what are they doing there?  One more thing: don't leave land open between zones like that.  Fill it with something: open parkland, a plaza, trees, ANYTHING.

-7.5/-10 - The streets in your game are feeling neglected because you have none in that city.  Coincidentally, your mayorial skills are in the exact same situation.

sEAhAwk fAn121: Oooh, pretty mosaic!  Oh, wait, no, I thought there was skill involved in making it.  Immediately my eyes were drawn to the two towers in the lower right portion of the thing.  Done correctly, repetition can look good, even with a distinctive tower like that one.  Of course, your repetition wasn't done correctly at all.  The buildings aren't positioned correctly, and there's a road splitting them--I'll say this, though: it creates a nice example of what NOT to do in a CBD.  I'd never thought I'd say this, but the SoftGlow is overdone in this picture.  It looks fine on the Sears Tower, but the Atlantic Plaza is way too over-illuminated...as a matter of fact, what is that BAT doing in your CBD full of tall, boxy towers anyways?

-6.5/-10 - I could mention the plane, the boring seaside Ped Mall, the blank grass on the bottom of the picture and/or the complete lack of life in the picture, but I'm too nice 2.gif.

City2TheMax: Those are actually really nice suburbs...for SC4 Vanilla.  Seeing the avenue, ground highway and diagonal streets, however, means that this must be judged on a higher standard...and in that regard, they fail.  Miserably.  First, get yourself a water mod, any water mod.  Also, realize that curves in streets are okay in suburbs (and in your case, they are highly encouraged).  Random roundabouts, unnecessary street squares and roads that start and end without regard to realism really give an indication of how much planning you did in making it.

-7/-10 - You should take a vacation to Smalltown, USA.  And then take an urban planning class.  Please.

BlondeTwiggy: Oh, boy, this should be fun 11.gif.  Toolbar should go without saying, but I just said it.  Now that that's out of the way, where do I start?  How about with the rampant repetition?
