Loving the LA CBD recreation. Looks pretty accurate.

 

 

 

A much smaller take on a CBD. Here's the first of three planned commercial only blocks for my Sim Mars CJ. Please note that the actual CJ is based on a fictional desert planet called Ratun using the SIm Mars and a bunch of other downloaded BATs and MODs as its base.

Holsteinsborg, a typical North- Europeanstyled city, without high-rises in the city center. The inner core has some medieval buildings, and 17th, 18th century buildings along canals. Some of the canals make way for broad traffic avenues. Just outside the old town, you'll find still mid- rise buildings, and the main trainstation. This ring has been built in the 19th- or industrial century. 

The old citycenter is built around the waterfront. The terminal station is built at an old city gate. West of the image you'll see some fragments of the fortifications, ditch.

 

Some commercial 'high- rises' at the far south- east of the city. In European city's offices concentrate mostly around highways.

I created some contrasts between the old and new. Gradually you'll see this phenomenon in city's like Rotterdam, Frankfurt and London.

Holsteinsborg has 242.000 inhabitants. Groot- Holsteinsborg has about 290.000 people.

Not necessarily a downtown. This is a new WIP outer business district in my metro area. I set it up similair to the places we have here (Greenway, Energy Corridor, Greenspoint, Uptown, Memorial City, Texas Medical Center...etc.) It functions as an employment center for the northern corridor of my metro area. Despite being made up of mostly commercial real estate; I included condos & apartments which sets it apart from just an office park.

 

 

Still various plots of land to be developed.

 

 

 

 

 

The Greenway Line was recently connected to the U-Line; A new underground rail system that allows residents In the N. IH 45 corridor to reach downtown with minimal automobile use.

Technically not a "new" update in the sense I think you're thinking... mostly because that's not from Holt District.

 

And now for one that is... this isn't technically a CBD/Downtown... more of a sprawl area. Except instead of lowrise, office towers and condo towers makeup the sprawl.

@Durfsurn: Well, it's not bad, but too much supertalls and blank surroundings. A good think to know is that too many skyscrapers can damage your skyline.
