This is Riverbend, it's very much a WIP and part of a region approaching 2 million.

There actually is a bending river, it just isn't in the picture because I haven't completed the river front yet.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

I actually got the idea of putting the airport in the middle of the downtown from the old Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong. It was not an airport for the faint of heart.

Read my post above. It's actually the Air Force base,so the planes are small, the only issue would be if a C130 decided to land there. I just liked the way it looked there. Next time I will be careful not to take pictures of the airport, so as not to invite criticism.

Just ignore them Simbabe54. It's very ease to criticize after all, even in a creative game like Simcity :lost:

If I would not like to be criticized, I would not post here, just some common sense.  That said, it is better to be respectful here though and always mind your emotions.  THIS COMMUNITY IS SMALL.  I also know for a fact that there are prominent members here who use alternate accounts to remain incognito, you never know who you are REALLY talking to.

I cannot wait until I get my mega region to the point where I am confident enough with it to put pictures up here.

I meant no disrespect - I'm actually glad you told me that the airport exists like that, since I didn't know :)

Thanks Simbabe54 :)

Funny thing about that, I really didn't plan to have it have smack dab in the middle of downtown, it just sort of grew that way and I liked it there, so I left it where it was. I think every downtown should have one, just to add some greenery. Trying to keep EQ high so I will eventually have some mega skyscrapers. Keeping my fingers crossed on that.

So I have to expect criticism every time I post, Metal? not sure i like that, makes me not want to post here anymore.

I dont care, when I post a pic I want peeps to criticize or compliment, depending on how they feel.  To me, it's YOUR city so make it how you want.  I'm sure me cities wouldn't last for two weeks out in the real world, but I like them.  That being said, I haven't played in a few weeks, I'm trying to decided the direction of my next region I started and I also wanted to go old school and play a little San Andreas, and yes if I'm not on a mission I do drive around the cities of Los Santos and San Fiero to see how they look and what I could use in my Sim City cities LOL!!!!!  I am that much of a SC4 geek!

Criticism isn't necessarily bad! I like to know what others think, then it's my choice wether or not to ignore what they say! What one considers "unrealistic" another may consider "unique." Just have an open mind, and remember that a lot of people read these threads and say nothing (usually, that's what I do). I read these threads to be inspired and steal ideas for my own cities.

I'm really enjoying the blurring on this image. It really adds to the "weight" of the building.

You bet your ass it ain't. lol

Some really nice images of your city. Looking forward to more.

makes me not want to post here anymore.

Don't punish the rest of us because of one.

In my time around these forums it's rare to see anyone just blatantly criticize anyone outside of the "Berate One Image" thread, so don't be nervous that it happens a lot.

Just understand that when you do, there is always that chance, but just rare around here.

If you want to see this airport in real life, go to youtube and do a search for Kai Tak. There are some pretty amazing videos of planes landing and taking off from what is most definitely a downtown airport in the literal sense. I think it has since been torn down. Kind of a shame really, it was a pretty epic airport.

But Kai Tak, even it is located on the very center of Kowloon City, there are no skyscrapers, only mid rises, on the flight path. But your city is very good!

Thanks, and you are right about the mid rises, but it was still a very cool airport!

Not necessarily a downtown. This is a new WIP outer business district in my metro area. I set it up similair to the places we have here (Greenway, Energy Corridor, Greenspoint, Uptown, Memorial City, Texas Medical Center...etc.) It functions as an employment center for the northern corridor of my metro area. Despite being made up of mostly commercial real estate; I included condos & apartments which sets it apart from just an office park.

Still various plots of land to be developed.

The Greenway Line was recently connected to the U-Line; A new underground rail system that allows residents In the N. IH 45 corridor to reach downtown with minimal automobile use.
