How do you manage to retain so much clarity in your pictures, anything I upload to imageshack seems to suffer a serious decrease in quality. Do you play with AA on?

What's your best Downtown view?

Show The Community.

I thought the old was getting too long and hard to navigate (over 1200 replies, wow!). I created this new one for convenience.

You can give the credit for the idea of the thread to Hordijk, because he is the original creator of the thread.

The downtown of my new little paradise;

lagoniajul1324130696780.th.png

The large golden tower is The LOD Financial Center. Tower one is not only the tallest in the region, but in the entire multi-region area, surpassing the Shindra Tower by 1.5 stories (3 stories without spires).

Slightly to the east, the large, yet short building is Federation Plaza, home to the Allied Nation General Assembly. It is shown in detail below;

lagoniajul1324130696785.th.png

In the forground, two large malls dominate the area in front of the financial center, mainly to keep the area open so the inhabitants have a better view of the river (unpictured to the south).

Other notes; The parks are due to the school within Civic Tower (the blue one to the east of the financial center). The building in Federation Plaza's immediate forground is The Sal Lagonia Cultural Center, which is a rather large, multi-purpose concert hall. The highway at left is the eastern spur of the inner inner beltway, connecting I10 and I12, which run across the region from East to West. The area is accessable by subway, monorail, bus and car. It is also available by ferry via bus.

Here's the downtown of a newer city of mine, Arbor Penninsula:

arborpenninsulamar21981.png

...and yes, I know almost everything in that pic is Maxis default... I wouldn't mind getting some custom content to replace it, but there are so many buildings in the game and mods on the Web its hard to know where to begin :boggle:

Here's my current favorite...

@Thecvr: Beautiful downtown! It's a very Chicago-like city.

I love your city's density, but at the same time your use of space. The buildings don't look too crowded, and though you used some ploppables, you chose to put them in locations where they seem to have developed on their own. It's very much the approach I take.

Plus, I love Art Deco cities. All the textures and colors make them more interesting than Modern or Post-Modern glass curtain boxes (and now tubes).

I'd love to see more of this city.

Oh, wow. I love this photo. It's blended in so well and you've done a perfect job keeping the buildings a fair distance apart as well. I always end up seeing CBDs which look so crowded, so this is a nice change. Very nice work.

thecvr and Towerdude, your cities look great, and very real.

Here's San Lorenzo! This picture is slightly outdated since I've done some alterations to the city, but it shows a good view of the skyline anyways:

sanlorenzoaerial.jpg

Here's a newer picture, during the late afternoon fog.

lorenzofog1.jpg

Unfortunately most, if not all of the downtown CBD is plopped, because I'm a control freak when it comes to Simcity4. :P
