After your pay for the expansion packs.

The game $50

Airports and Seaports  $30

Options to customise and edit land  $20

More Disasters $20

More Transit bring back trains, monorails $20

Highways and streets would be great $20

A bigger map and a larger population $20

You see EA didnt screw you guys over with putting out a horrible game.   Its an incomplete game.  All you have to do is buy the expansion packs to finish the game.

Then you will be screwed  spending an exra $100 for free features.

EA isnt dumb.  They are about business. This is EA's tactic get used to it.

There aren't any announced plans for expansions, are there? And, yes there not dumb, but they can't make that many expansions can they?

Oh, never mind, yes they can. (The Sims)

... and same business way that make some city building fans having all their eyes on what appears to be a serious competitor in city building games, in the name of Monte Cristo ... Customer dislike being had several times, and won't hesitate to look at another software developper if they can for a game, it's the way free market economy works 2.gif And no, they haven't announced any expansions packs yet for the game, as tilted mill makes a push on XML files for the custom content feature ...

If this game doesn't sell, expansions are unlikely. EA won't support a game that flops.

The Sims sell millions every time so expansions are common... SCS is not The Sims.

Somehow I think EA already knows they went wrong.  Look to the left of this site with the ads by google and find the one that says, and I quote...

"A Social Engineering Simulator Buy it today - Official EA Store"

Hmm, last time I checked, Sim City was supposed to be a CITY engineering simulator...

Keep calm and take photographs.

Last I checked Train Simulator was Flight Simulator X...46.gif

Seriously...I agree with you. That's probably the only reason why everyone is so upset about this game.

If it was Sims Societies would you like it better?

yea, we probably would. Don't use a brand name where it shouldnt be. Like putting the Splinter Cell game on a non-stealth shooter game.

oh wait....

Actually, IMO SCS will be a really "good" game after modders get cracking on creating really custom buildings with new models.  Being able to have hundreds of different style houses and business's and props will make the game quite enjoyable IMO.  As it is right now, i'ts a bit tiresome to look at a city with the same 3 style mansions, or haciendas all over the city.  Give me unique homes for each time I place one and I'll be enjoying to build my city.

I use to care that it's not really Simcity, but not anymore.  Now it's just another relaxing enjoyable city building game.  In the beginning though I was hot under the collar like many about EA using the SC franchise name for this, but I really don't care anymore, if they are going to make a real SC5 then they'll make one, if not then theres nothing I nor anybody around here can do about it.

So take it for what it is, a simple enjoyable city plopping building game and get those talented modders cracking on designing new models, new programming, and new functions into the game.  The scripts have a huge amount of possibilities on what can be added to the game by the gamers themselves without having to wait on EA to do it for us.

The reason The Sims sold so well and thus justified the expansion packs (both the original and The Sims 2) is that the base game is still a great game that is perfectly playable out of the box. The expansions add to the experience, rather than completing it.

EA wouldn't pass down the oppertunity to capitalize on that... so no doubt they will.

It may turn out to be a mediocre City Life to be honest... I remember when the original City Life was released, it was a little boring and repetative... but a few expansion packs later, people can't wait for the 2008 Edition. SCS could be the same...

Jeez, if the game doesn't sell well at first there will be no expansions. If no one buys the original game it is too risky a business move to back an expansion to "complete" a game that didn't sell. Of course, if it does sell well and expansions are made, for what reason could one criticize good business sense?

The people who are in this business are in the business to make money. They also want to make a good game, they don't want people to badmouth them and their product, the making of which took probably thousands of their hours to complete. No one sits down at a job at that level and thinks to themselves, "Gee, how can I make as mediocre a game as possible to screw over the largest amount of hardcore fans as I can?"

That being said, people are not perfect and make mistakes, and I actually believe that SCS was a mistake. But hey, they did it, and given enough negative reaction and low enough sales, hopefully a "real" SC5 can be made.

*haha, I forgot the "also" up there between They and want.  Sorry!*
