Call of Duty 4

I'm surprised I wasn't able to find a Call of Duty 4 thread. Just bought the game today and its FANTASTIC! The story line is so compelling, the action riveting and suspenseful and in certain cases heart breaking. I've never said "Oh... my... god... " so many times before. The missions are so different each time with some missions comprising of just shooting from a turret on a plane (super fun!) or rescuing a downed pilot. The graphics are INTENSE, especially the urban combat. About 6 missions in, theres a HUGE (and huge is an understatement) plot development that just leaves you breathless, especially the immediate consequences of that development. I haven't tried multiplayer yet, but I don't even care. The story is SO good that I could play it 15 times and probably not get sick of it. This is a BUY BUY BUY! 11/10. I mean, there are so many different elements involved that most games lack, including dynamic settings. Not many games can actually make you sea sick (both me and my roommate got a little queezy [sp?]). I'll stop rambling, but if you were on the fence, and you aren't sure, take it from me, its worth the 60 bucks (and if you get it at target, you get a $5 gift certificate back!)

I still don't have the game but I'm a huge COD fanboy! Being set in modern days makes me want it even more! It makes it easier for me to connect and relate to the game in a way. I've played the demo and my PC runs the game smoothly so once I get the game and start playing I'll be in for a real treat! Honestly this is the only release I was anticipating for this year...so I'm glad it's out and now I just can't wait to finally play it 3.gif

This will be my first COD(PC). I played the demo and it looks and plays awesome, plus it doesn't require a supercomputer to play either(crysis, Im looking your way!)!

I beat this on Vet in about 5 hours non-stop... but damn, what a freaking awesome game!

Shame about Pvt. Jackson, I would've like to play a little more in the Middle East, but the Chernobyl sniping mission was freaking ace... Captain MacMillain didn't have a dodgey Scots accent unlike MacGregor from COD2.

'OI, SUZY!' *slits throat* - my fave line 18.gif

That sniping mission is so intense! My heart was beating when you were in the field crawling avoiding the troops and tanks. I mean they were only inches from stepping on you.

I know!! That Sniping mission was amazing! I was literally half a game inch from neing hit by a BMP-1! It really shines on Xbox Live though. I have an ultra-upgraded MG and am a lvl. 22 Master Gunnery Sgt.

I hope I have played some of you!

Well, only 2 series have ever acutally done good with WW2, and that would be Cal of Duty and Company of Heroes

    Just picked it up!

I have to say I am pretty impressed.  Wow!

Although I noticed you send a lot of the game playing as a jarhead 3.gif.

I'm only a few missions in (playing on Veteran), but damn is it intense!

    Just wish it had co-op.

Haha, same here... I tried to make the BMP go over me, but I kinda got crushed...

The bit near the Ferris Wheel was intense though... I'd kinda threw away my Sniper rifle (since it had a scope instead of Iron Sights) and picked up a Skorpion instead (i like to make the game harder)... it was pretty regrettable, the Skorpion has the worst accuracy on the planet, even using the iron sights.

BTW, anybody beat the Epilogue on Vet? I've never been so freaking  frustrated in my life, 1 min to get the VIP but 2 shots and your dead... i'm pretty stumped.

Also, anybody beat the IW best Time on the Training mission... 15 seconds... I mean, HOW??? My best is 28 secs...

I have beaten the Epilogue on Vet, it took me like, ten tries, but I did it. The trick is using the flash bangs correctly and bum rushing them with killer accuracy.  It was frustrating but doable. I have not beaten Gaz's record for the training mission yet though.

I haven't finished the game yet, I'm taking it nice and slow so I can enjoy every minute. So far it has been an incredible experience!

The movie Black Hawk Down was on the movie channel last night, so I decided to watch it even though I've already seen it. It's amazing what seeing that movie and playing COD4 right after makes you feel. I found the last mission with Paul Jackson extremely familiar with the chopper going down and going to save the pilot..."no one gets left behind"!

Waway- Don't make us feel bad with those Uber graphics, lol

The graphics settings aren't very tweakable wich I was annoyed with... you either have good graphics or bad graphics, thats it... makes me want to upgrade my machine soooooooo freaking badly.

lol i believe this game doesnt need a high end PC to look good ..the game runs much better than r6:vegas which i could play at pretty high settings with my then A64 3800+ and 7600GT combo

so i think even an A64 3800+ and a 7600GT(or equivalent) can run this game with good graphics 4.gif

    edit:

first (and still) it was the crysis demo ive been playing..then this ..and then by next week the retail version of crysis..man SC4 has taken the backseat for so long 15.gif so my planned CJ will be much delayed 9.gif

I just beat it on the DS, the storyline for DS is kind of short, prevent Russians from launching the Nuke and i guess the terrorists were probably buyers and thats why it had an Iraq like scene. When i get my PS3 eventually ill make sure to pick the CO4 for it too, i bet gameplay is waay better!

I just beat in on veteran the second day it came out! Wow this game is probably the best shooting/war game ever! With the most detailed graphics I have ever seen. The PS3 makes it look like a partially animated movie! My favorite most heart breaking part is the Nuclear explosion and at the very very end on the bridge. The online gaming is so intense and realistic. Beats any other online game out there. I like playing ground war mode online where its either domination or team DM and it holds up to 18 people on a map thats probably suited for no more than 12! I give this game a 20/10! Best game ever!

Yeah, even on low settings it doesn't suck too badly, but just seeing your tasty screenshots makes me long for an 8800 and some more Ram...

Hahaha! You're right! It does look like a movie. I'm playing it with my 360 on a 10ft screen in our home theater though lol. I hate how you die....I rather liked being a Marine in the Middle East and then KABOOM!! I die in a nuclear explosion.....

Btw, I have recenty reached Lt. Colonel!

I am playing the game on C2D e6400, 7300GT and 2GB ram with 800x600 and 4x Anti Aliasing. Works well with around 40fps. 4.gif

Yeah, lowing the screen res usually works wonders for the FPS but does nothing for your eyes 46.gif

    Very, very nice game.

When I first started playing it I was a little underwhelmed, however once I'd got past the prologue I started to enjoy it and damn, the sniping mission was incredible. Graphically, it's good but I don't think it's as nice as Heavenly Sword or Uncharted, but still very good.

Online is incredible too, I can see myself spending quite a lot of time on it 3.gif.

I just finished the game on Veteran.  I must say that this is one of the best shooters I've played in years.  There were a few parts that made me a little frustrated, like the last part of One Shot One Kill and No Fighting in the War Room.

Has anyone beaten Mile High Club on veteran yet?  I beat it on hardened the 1st time, but veteran seems almost impossible.  I've come very close a couple of times (just a few feet) when I run out of time.

Anyways, if anyone out there has been on the fence about whether or not to get this game, go for it.  It's an awesome experience!
