Hope it works out for ya. I just think the game is very infant. My 3 year old nephew will even get bored.

It's sad. Such a good game. Still play it often.

Cough! Cough!

My theory is that the man who is behind this SCS concept might not be anyone else but Will Wright himself, but he got so caught up with the Spore project so he handed over this idea to a gaming company he knew made good city simulators before; Tilted Mill. But then, EA came with their whip and forced them to make, what you call, teletubbies the game. I think the reason was not just money, but if they skipped the candy and theme park theme, the Civilization team (Sid Meier and co. from Firaxis, you know) would sue EA for plagiacy.

Doubtful.  I think he moved unto Spore and Spore-like games.  In his mind's eye.. Simcity has passed.

firstly whats spore..... secondly i dont like that simcity societies type game i like simcity rushour typ alot better and seems easier to use and thirdly i recon if they made a simcity 5 or something with all these "good" buildings of simtropolis like chifly tower, tiberian etc and the theme park and other parks etc alot of people will begin to like it especially if they put a global add on tv that shows this.

According to Wikipedia, Will Wright was not on the design team, some sites may simply be assuming he was. Given the content and focus of Simcity 4 relative to previous games, that really isn't a shock.

Maxis did not abandon Simcity. I read somewhere that Maxis' ideas for Simcity 5 were too demanding for current hardware. Therefore, EA looked elseware for their next city-building game. That's why it's not called Simcity 5.

Well, maybe EA is so busy with all this other stuff that they just wanted to put something out on the market. I mean look at Sim City DS, that was a decent game, and I think that with EA being where it is, they just released a whole lot of games, and well like all these other companies, they have huge ideas, but not all "modern" computers can handle it. So really who is the head of sim city and or did maxis put the idea for sale, and just take all of the credit. I am confused right now.

I wouldnt be saying that Maxis has left Simcity.Their just making Spore. And right now Spore is one huge game as we can see. It's on MSN, Arcadetown, you name it. It is huge and Maxis will have a better populatry than EA well techically. So aslong Maxis is still creating new games. The community wont die out.

But on which consumer group did they concentrate when making SCS? For me, this game looks like, erm, computer interpretation of one square kilometer dollhouse. Who plays these candy games if not these pink, 9-year-old princesses? I don't like these games where there's no other action than "hooray, let's play, no worries, this is Candyland". I'm scared that the next SC will have candy roads, pony farms and pink dollhouses, maybe the SC will rename into "Barbie's Magical Candy Land" 4.gif I'd say: Let's make OUR city sim! I bet there are people capable of realising the project somewhere out there. And don't point me at LinCity - this game has climate that reminds me of graveyard, or something as sad and creepy like that 4.gif

BTW. I saw a commercial of European infrastructure funds on TV, featuring an animation of city-building game alike, played by a woman. She had only to click 3 buttons with "Road infrastructure", "Buildings" and "Mass Transit" written on them. After each click the map began to fill up with these foundations. Whole game lasted for about 10 seconds, after that a blue "Mission accomplished" box popped out.

So don't panic, nobody will produce worse city sim than European Union

Face it, when SC4 was first released, most of the computers in the market at that time had trouble supporting it, even though SC4 was downgraded to reduce the hardware demand. Even today, many computers still have trouble running SC4 without lags or crashes in large cities, including my laptop ( my laptop has Intel Core Duo 2 T7200 processor, and the processor often get nearly overloaded). If Maxis (or the greedy EA) release SC5, I think most of the computers (or all the desktop and laptops) in the market would groan under the hardware demand of SC5.

However, that is no excuse for EA releasing SCS or SCC....

EA wanted a fresh start on SC because they felt they worked the game into a corner.

They have decided to start again from the basics, get a good fan base going, and build up again to something as epic as sc4.

there is not much u can really improve on after sc4 without spending heaps of money.

so in about 6-10 years, expect another simcity game that challenges sc4.
