Welcome to Page 6! 40.gif

Ditto on edmonton_stinks's comment. These pics were definitely worth the wait. 4.gif

Excellent use of the many different W2W buildings, you really can never have too many. The occasional parking lots/open spaces were great touches to an otherwise full landscape. Of course, I really enjoyed the industrial shot, more I say, more!!! 3.gif Heh heh, anyway, good assortment of buildings, thank goodness for the likes of Jestarr, SimGoober, and many other industrial creators. The park lots and the custom-made Canada Dry lot were nice bonuses. 9.gif

Woo! now that I have had my fill of GTA IV for this month, its time to get back into Sc4.

This update will not be about Springhurst, today I will be introducing a new City I started last Wednesday, this is an entirly new city that I based off an old CJ of mine 'Union Town, Nova Scotia' but anyway, here is a teaser of Whitby, Nova Scotia, just a quick screen shot I took this morning. as well as comment replies...

    341216450649.jpg

I know, hardly imprerssive to start, but its been almost two weeks since I posted here! It would be rude just to leave with nothing, no? 48.gif

A full update will be posted of Whitby this week, with more pictures off Springhurst shortly after. see ya then. 2.gif

    Clint:

nai! skyline just right size! Ive saved all the larger high-rises for Dowling... there will be no CN towah plopz either! 20.gif

    Samuel:

I deal with the small cities, you deal with the ESB 18.gif

    Mayor of Tempest Lake:

Got to love that rustic/art deco aesthetic, eh? Thanks.

    jacqulina:

Why thank you! now if I could only master the rural game 41.gif

    Twenty20:

    Much thanks!

    Rictiovarus:

Old industrial english towns is sort of the inspiration behind the whole city, you get that kind of atmosphere a lot of old parts of Quebec and Ontario.

    edmonton_stinks:

Yeah, good things come to those who wait 2.gif... thanks.

    GreekMan:

Woo! glad to hear you enjoyed the celebrations, thanks for commenting! 9.gif

    ky72x:

Aah yes, Building placement is key for my style. I love that look of ageing W2W, although not a very common thing In Canada to find dense rundown urban areas, more so in northern States, which is where I draw a lot of the inspiration for Springhurst. I have made a lot fo custom lots for this CJ, though I haven't really showcased any of it yet, but Im glad you noticed the Canada Dry Lot 2.gif

Wow, there's some great looking stuff here. I really like the realistic size and building variety in your downtowns.

Looking mighty fine! 4.gif Yep, there's a nice balance of the older W2W's and newer buildings in Whitby, which I really like. It looks like you used plopables, but I don't blame you. Although I'm more partial to growables, it does get pretty frustrating when the same buildings keep on popping up and breaking up preset zones. Good layout for the area, the avenue that splits off into two one-way roads is a typical find in cities like this. Can't wait for the full update. 9.gif

Looks great! Needless to say I'm keen about the Nova Scotia setting 4.gif Your use of cycledogg's houses is spot on. The older neighbourhoods in most cities and towns in the Maritimes are full of beautiful old wooden houses. I don't know where or if you had a particular place in Nova Scotia in mind in locating Whitby, but make sure you use some spruce trees whenever you're putting down forested areas (cycledogg's would work well) because the forests out here are a real mix of decidious and coniferous trees. The mix fluctuates depending on the soil and the proximity to the Atlantic: close to the ocean on rocky soil means spruce and firs dominate (the Eastern Shore and parts of Cape Breton) whereas good soil and sheltered locations means lots of beech, maple and oaks(the Anapolis Valley).

    okay then, quick teaser.

this is an updated screen shot from this morning of Springhurst, as you can see, I have gotten some work in, though its still rather empty... I think I may have gamers block or something 41.gif things have been a bit hectic this week, Ive been busy packing and such, working on Whitby and Springhurst, as well as another much larger project I will introduce soon. A more in-depth update will be this week, but this screen shot will do for now.

    Springhurst - july 26, 08

    Update7teaser.jpg

so there you have it, now if you will excuse me, I need to some sleep. 23.gif

yes, young grass hopper, you now see the way of my madness... or the madness of my way!...

...don't mind me, Im to tired to think right now.

    Clint:

No CN towe--uh... oh wait, Whitby does have a CN tower, although Im going to demolish It, as it doesn't blend in well. 41.gif

    Haljackey:

    Why thank you, hal! 5.gif

    CKSmooth:

I appreciate your support, I will certainly keep building cities if people keep commenting. 2.gif

    dfnva:

Glad you like it, CBDs/Downtowns are my specialty. 2.gif

    ky72x:

Yeah, I plop all commercial buildings, most industrial buildings as well, with the exception of residential, my cities are purly eyecandy. I tried to take a more modern approach to Whitby, as Springhurst is very early 20th century art-deco, with little room for modernization, I decided I needed something new to try out. 19.gif a full update will have to wait though, I want to get some more work in on Springhurst first.

    jacqulina:

    hopefully, thanks for your support!

    spa:

Now that you mention it I haven't based Whitby in any particular part of NS yet, Im thinking the southern region though, near Yarmouth, where I had based the original city, but then again thats not exactly the best setting for a city, some where more north-east of Halifax, perhaps near the straight of Canso would be more appropriate. Also Thanks for your advise, I had actually been wondering what Im going to do about the landscape around the city, as I have only been to parts of cape breton (mainly Sydney) and Halifax, I dont know all too much about the Nova Scotian landscape.18.gif Thank you for commenting!

Looks nice, I'll be curious to see how you develop the area surrounding Springhurst, maybe with some Avenues with lots of retail and more residential areas?

What a lovely new city in NS! Great work there man. I love how Springhurst looks..both downtown and north downtown look very interesting and so those suburbs do!

I love how you built the rail across the city and the street layout in both cities is just perfect. Really eye-pleasent work.

My apologies for not Updating last week, I've now switched from GTA to CoD. 17.gif

Seriously though, I have been quite busy the last month, just so you know I am moving, so this CJ Im sorry to say isn't high on my priorities list. 41.gif But I do have an interesting update, or shall i say updates this week, it should make up for the past 2 weeks of nothingness. So to start lets get to the first update of Whitby, I haven't got as much work done on this city as I hoped, but it is slowing progressing. Here are some screen shots...

    Whitby, NS

    Update 1

    351218391186.jpg

    351218405577.jpg

and thats that, now on to Springhurst.

so far Springhurst has been my main work in progress city, above the others I have been doing. here are some new Screen shots...

    Springhurst, ON

    Update 7

    481217810456-1.jpg

    481217810774-1.jpg

    now, on to something new.

Its about time Ive introduced my other cities I haven't showed here yet. So without further delay, here are two new cities!

    Erie, ND

    Introduction

This is my first US (North Dakota) based city, that I can remeber, to be honest I just made it because I was dying to try out CPs Little Missouri Map. 3.gif But I think Its starting to look alright.

    here you have it...

    071218017973.jpg

Well, okay, its not much I admit, although I'll try to update this frequently with Springhurst and Whitby.

and last be most certainly not least, something i have put a lot of work into recently, and I must say I am most pround of this then anything. 36.gif But please, don't be expecting me to post many pictures of this city for the time being, as it is a rather large project and I wont be able to keep up.

    uhm.. err, QC

    Introduction

okay, so I haven't found a name for this city yet, Im sorry, Its on my to-do list.  17.gif I have decided to base it In Quebec, Canada. this is actually the second version of this city, as I wasen't satisfied with the result of the previous one. Here you have it...

    051218405017.jpg

Worth the 2 weeks? I think so. 2.gif

    Feeback;

    GreekMan:

ehh. It's true... more recently it's been CoD4, though, I love that game. 18.gif Thanks!

    Samuel:

Oddly enough it keeps appearing in that same spot, I don't know why, its starting to freak me out though...22.gif

    dfnva:

Suburban towns around Springhurst will have more avenues and modern commercial areas, typical North American developemnt. I haven't gotten to that point of building yet. thanks for commenting. 2.gif

    Mayorm:

    Why, thank you!

    beebeth:

Long wait, but I have much more! 5.gif

    Minty:

    Of course you do. hehehe16.gif

    Cristian:

Well, thanks! Im glad it was... pleasing. 3.gif

    SODATWIN:

    thanks much.

    un1:

well, thanks, I guess.. 5.gif ahah

thanks for posting, and your kind words!

as I said above, I am moving, and I will eventually have to pack on my PC, so this will be the last update atleast until the end of this month, I figure by then everything will be sorted out and I will have more free time to contribute at ST19.gif  See ya then.
