Interesting. Most of those conflicts are internal and it appears only a small number of the conflicts are between countries.

I think out of all of those wars, the Iraq War is the most complex. To the west, you have the Arab states wanting control (influence) over Iraq while to the east you have Iran wanting control. Then, inside of the country, you have insurgents from the Sunni and Shia groups with Al Qaida (or however you'd like to spell it) killing both sides. Then you have America & its allies trying to get the situation under control while the Iraqi government is really lacking a back. And to make it worse, the Iraq War has really divided the world with people hating each other only because of the imaginary boundaries that seperate each other. Interesting.

Thanks for posting this, crazyyaya!

First, America must pull out of Iraq (Why are the politicians arguing about this, just get the hell out of there before it becomes another Vietnam-or is it to already too late?)quote>

history lesson...the vietnamese communists were only about 6 months away from pulling out. if we had held on for a little longer, we wouldnt have lost. also, if you talk to troops over there, they will tell you that great progress is being made. people come up to them with legit tips that lead to captures of insurgents every day.

All of the 1st world countries must distribute it's money and resources among all 3rd world countries, therefore becoming 2nd world countries.quote>

why should one country that has improved itself lower its quality of life? i agree with helping 3rd world countries industrialize and move ahead, but not ahead of our own citizens.

The United Nations must be dissolved and a new, stronger organization should be put up (one not run by corporal fat cats and the like) and anyone on earth should be able to run for the offices of that organization.  A rich country should not have more representitives or more power in the new organization than a Banana Republic.quote>

i agree with fixing the UN, but a country should be solidly established to have a member in office in the organization. it would result in chaos if the office holder's country's government was overthrown.

All Nuclear weapons and biological weapons should be disarmed immediately and all weapons should slowly be banned (now Cheney can't "accidently" kill his friends anymore) except for the authorities to keep peace.  Any country that does not follow the rules set by the new organization will be sanctioned against. quote>

one problem here...criminals don't care about the laws. they will have the weapons regardless of the rules. i should be able to have a weapon to protect myself.

Boy this is a really great thread....Why is it when things are going bad in the world the U.S. gets the blame, but when a terrible disaster strikes, everyone expects the U.S. to help? Interesting point to be brought up, did anyone know that private U.S. citizens give more in donations that go overseas, than the government gives in foreign aid? Does anyone realize that Bill Gates will give money to any nation, but they have to follow strict guidelines and accounting practices for it to continue? Come on people, give me a break! America isn't perfect, but it is a damn sight better than a lot of past nations that had vast power. Anyone remember Nazi Germany? Or France under Napoleon? How about the recently defunct USSR? There was a shining example of how to distribute wealth among all the masses, and bring a brighter happier tomorrow. People tend to forget some things, like yes we helped defeat Nazi Germany, and Imperial Japan. But after we won, we helped those nations rebuild into peaceful, prosperous, democratic nations. Redistributing wealth is not an answer, nor is complete disarmament. It really saddens me that people can show such hatred and visceral antipathy, just because the U.S. is a prosperous, powerful and freedom loving nation....

You cannot say to murder a man like Mr. Bush (who, yes, has entrapped the U.S. in the hell of the Iraq war and ruined the economy) and then propose to ban weapons. quote>

bush ruined the economy? is that why the dow jones and nasdaq are the highest they've ever been? we have a credit crunch because the economy was so strong that banks issued too many loans and people are now defaulting.

Have you gone mad? Are you insane? How could you possibly support continuing the slaughter of millions of innocent civilians? This was a civil war of Vietnam that America had no right to get involved in to that point. Here's a History lesson for you.

Vietnamese civilian dead: 2,000,000–5,100,000*

Cambodian civilian dead: ~700,000*

Laotian civilian dead: ~50,000*

*Official estimates

American Soldiers dead:  58,209 dead, 2000 missing

Millions of acres of land poisioned by chemicals designed to destroy forests.

America would not have won if it had stayed longer. It took almost twenty years to get nowhere, why would an extra 6 months helped?

I'm not sure if you know enough about that conflict to say things like that. Why don't you try searching for images of My Lai Massacre. That was part of Vietnam war when US soldiers acutally stormed a village and raped and murder innocents. They beat children and women to death. If you can see those images of a real event and not be disgusted enought to not support that war or any really, then there's something wrong with you.

Here's a link to information about that event with very disturbing pictures, so a warming to you before you look at them.

Sorry for being harsh but I feel very strongly about that subject.

Although the person you quoted was wrong about Bush ruining the economy, Bush has little to do with the stock market. The stock market is at some of its highest levels becasue it should be! Why would it not be? The economy has steadily been rising (with the execptions of a few major drops) for decades. Bush didn't do that. By the way, I really hope your not part of 30 percent of Americans who still actually support Bush. I think our next president should have to pass a hard IQ test and have more foreign experience than only being in America before they are sworn in.

maybe not nuclear weapons, but biological weapons and dirty bombs are out there. heck you can find how to make them on the internet.

wikipedia is not an academic source...it is not written by scholars and is prone to errors. not saying that the US soldiers didnt do what you said, but there is no proof and only one was formally tried in a court martial of it. and if it wasn't for wars, hitler would still be in power, america would not exist, slavery would still exist in the us, xerxes would have conquered the world, and you wouldnt be posting on here. though i am not for war simply for the sake of fighting one, i am for one when it brings about justice.

I think you guys are arguing about two different things? I mean, a knife and a nuclear warhead may both be 'weapons', but banning one or the other would have vastly different consequences and take much different kinds of enforcement.

Anyways, clearly you have no clue as to what you are saying

for one, to ban something you need to have authority to enforce the rule. To ban all sorts of weapons you would needs lots and lots of it. And to have authority, you need weapons yourself, and you must use them.

What makes you think you would be able to conduct a massive global campaign to disarm and take away the rights and sovereignity of every culture, and not end up having atrocities and violence occur?

Huh? Did even look at that page. Search Google, You'll find thousands of sources confirming that Massacre happened. So I guess all those pictures are just fake right? The soldiers were court marshalled. One soldier even commited suicide becasue of the guilt he felt for his part in the massacre. How can you possibly say there is no proof????? You are using such a paritsan Republican answer.

"...if it wasn't for wars, hilter would still be in power..."

First off, he'd be dead from old age if he was alive, second if there were no wars, then WW2 would never had happened. Hilter would never had rose to power.

By the way Wikipedia is an acedemic source.

only one soldier was tried...all the rest were acquitted for lack of evidence

hitler rose to power before ww2. ww2 was a result of him being in power.

and wikipedia is not considered an academic source by any educational entity...it cannot be since anyone can edit it.

Things seem really bad, but the truth is 100 years ago people did not know what was going are around the world as it happened. Things are actually getting better with every generation. The major problems stem from uneducated people who think it's okay to kill another over something as stupid as what imaginary friend they talk to or filling there pockets with more money then they could ever spend. All I know is that none of us here would ever think of killing each other over something so stupid...and people are here from all over the world. I would be nice if we could solve all of our problems over night but the world just does not work that way.

I would love to participate in this thread, but unfortunately, I have seen so many posts made by idiots that I cannot even begin to post logical replies (it would take forever). There are too many people posting here that do not know what they are talking about. They rely on political talking points, which are completely biased, and completely uninformed.

How can anyone deny the My Lai Massacre, or disregard it "because people weren't tried"? How can ANYONE know that the Reds were six months away from withdrawing? Did they have a plan, did they post a warning? ..."We will withdraw in 6 mos". Bullpoop. Use your heads, people. I love this community, but I honestly cannot abide completely biased stupidity. And just because some idiot Democrats led us to a failing war in Vietnam does not mean that the opposition doesn't have its own viewpoint on the matter. Bias is everywhere.

If anyone wants to solve the worlds problems, then they should kill themselves, so they aren't around to help continue screwing it up. Whoever posted "stop having babies" was completely in the right. The only way to fix the world's problems is for Man to no longer be present, or to wise-up (which is unlikely to happen, no matter how much Star Trek you watch).

Don't get me wrong, I agree with many posters and am not posting here to say "everyone is wrong, I am right". But, seriously, the talking points are completely bogus, from both the right and the left. We need to break away from this categorical mindset that everything is either/or. It only exists in our minds, not in reality.

Flaming is welcome, feel free to PM me. I may or may not reply, depending on my mood. I would rather argue privately, than give the mods a migraine. (I feel for ya, Marc!)

Actually I did know that, very well in fact. I wasn't accusing Republicans of escalation the war, I just have very anti-war points of veiw. I'm not even a Democrat, I hold quite liberal veiws on social issues, that dosne't mean I support one party or another. I'd much rather vote for a third party candidate than a Democrat, besides I don't Vote in America, I vote in Canada, were we have a 5 party system. And I do have the right of saying his was a partisan answer because it was those comparisms that many on capital hill use to justify war.

Making a dirty bomb is exceedingly easy, the trouble is getting access to the necessary materials. You can't pick up radioactive material at your local corner drug store, after all...

A small scale bomb could be made from gunpowder from fireworks and whatnot... larger bombs could be made if you managed to steal some TNT from somewhere... and, well, you see plenty of "IEDs" in Iraq, so it's certainly possible... though somehow I think the materials for those are easier to get in Iraq than in America or any other major Western country. If a dirty bomb does ever end up being used, it may very well be in Iraq or Israel as opposed to the US or Europe....

Making an Atomic Bomb is beyond the scope of any terrorist organization, but buying one is certainly not (North Korea, Iran...).

Speaking of Israel, the county should be immediately toppled. and replaced with a Secular nation where both sides have equal influence.

    My List:

    IN THE US:

Hilary Clinton should be 86ed. She is just pure EVIL. Universal Healthcare in The US would be nice too, hopefully we can find a non-governmental way to achieve that.

The American Border's should be opened, so we can stay true to that poem on the base of the Statue of Liberty, and we can finally get rid of the sordid White majority, and hopefully in time, there will be no such thing as White People, Or Black People, Or Hispanics or Native Americans or Asians or whatever other racial divides there are, and we can all just be people.

The Electoral College should go, and power should be wrangled out of the hands of the Rich and Privileged and given back to the people by banning lobbying and keeping the Market and Government as two separate entities.

Abolish the federal reserve, and replace it with a currency backed by the gold standard

Support for the Free State Project should be bolstered, and New Hampshire should secede from the Union.

Abolish the FOX TV Network, and take Rush Limbaugh off of radio.

Get rid of Samuel Alito, John Roberts and Clarance Thomas

Lower the Drinking age to 17, Lower the smoking age to 16

Stop the Illegal NSA Wiretapping, And Abolish the patriot Act, the TSA and Department of homeland security. End Police Oppression in Poor Areas, by starting neighborhood copwatches.

    Lift the embargo on cuba

Pull out of Iraq and every other nation the US has troops in.

    Ill think of more

    IN CANADA:

Prime Minister Stephan Harper must be ran out of Canada, and a a new PM should be fairly elected. The First Nations should also have guaranteed representation in Parliament, and the First Nations reliance on the Canadian Government lessened, the First Nations should be given guaranteed equal rights as white Canadians, not just handing them new provinces to silence their cries and ignoring their plight.

I would like to see what happened at Oka in 1990, Happen everywhere.

get CTV to cancel Degrassi, that show is just horrible sexist, racist, sensationalist classist garbage.

Make the Toronto Transit Commission a private entity, and LOWER THE DAMN FARES!!!! $2.75 for a Streetcar ride is INSANE!

Stop Police Oppression in poor neighborhoods, such as the Jane-Finch Corridor in Toronto, and Winnipeg's North End. revoke the Police's agent of landlord in Ontario Public Housing.

Canadian Idol Sucks, Cancel it too. While where at It, get rid of CTV entirely, they suck.

Lessen Border security, so Disenfranchised Americans can get in easier.

Lower the Drinking age in all provinces to 17, and the smoking age to 16.

Just let Quebec become their own damn country, havent they given you enough trouble?

    ill think of more

    IN EUROPE:

    Abolish the EU

    Free Northern Ireland

    Abolish the British Monarchy

Set stronger anti-discrimination laws in France. and deport all vehement racists like Bridgette Bardot

Lower the Drinking age in Italy, oh wait, its already set at Birth there, nevermind GO ITALIA!!

Abolish the Euro, and replace with a currency backed by the gold standard

Get Putin out of Power in Russia, make any form of Communism in Russia illegal

Euthanize Thatcher, and pretend she never existed.

    ill think of more

    LATIN AMERICA:

Stop Predatory Socialism, Eliminate Chavez and Castro, and follow the Sandinista's example.

Get rid of Western Companies in all Latin American nations, same goes for Africa and Asia.

    THE WORLD:

    Abolish the UN

Abolish the Olympics, no one cares about them anyway

    Disarm all Nukes

    save the whales

    bla bla bla

    ect.

Well, I for one would like people to stop arguing over these petty things and see the real issues at hand.

Mr. Bush had not done a damn thing, he is not as powerful of a person as you may think. He is but a scapegoat, and puppet to larger forces at work. He has no choice but to listen to those who control him. This actually applies to all politicians, not just Mr. Bush.

The true enemy is not the US, it is not the EU (as much as I would like it to be). The true enemy of this Earth is the Federal Reserve Bank, the Bank of England, and the Central European Banks. (not limited to those, but I'm not going to type out all the culprits).

The US Federal Reserve Bank (Which is a PRIVATE entity) works with it's partners; the other banks of the world; to reach and ascertain certain goals.

Whoever controls a nation's money supply controls the nation. In our case, the illegal private entity controlled by the wealthy of the US, makes the rules. It doesn't really matter what Bush says, he's just doing what they make him do. Last person who tried to defy the Federal Reserve (JFK) was killed shortly after he tried to save our country, and maybe even the world.

The idea of this bank is to expand, and work with it's partners to do so. For example, the war in Iraq, the American people never wanted that, it is an attempt by the Bank of England and the Federal Reserve to expand their influence in to the middle east. By doing so, they control yet another chunk of the world. This lie has been going on forever, European nations have done it for centuries. The Federal Reserve began doing so in the early 1900's.

The Federal Income tax was created at the same time, there is no law saying you had to pay tax on your labours. The government claims to rely on Income tax to function...then how the hell did it function from 1776 to 1913? Corporate Tax alone pays our entire military funding, property tax pays for schools, and gasoline tax pays for roads. So what does Income Tax do? Goes straight in to the federal reserve.

That 9 trillion of debt the US "owes" is not to a foregin nation, not to anyone other than the Federal Reserve Bank, and illegal "corporation" that the American people are enslaved to.

Nobody cares if you are Democrat or Republican, both are just as corrupt as the other. They only have public swordplay for show, because in reality they both work for the banks.

As for the Africa issue, the central European banks effectively "control" most of Africa. the EU sends aid in the form of food and such. The USA sends help in the form of teachings and showing people how to work the land, and better farming techniques. However, since the EU gives out tons of handouts, the people are un-motivated to work or farm, because they can get the food for free. "Give a man a fish, and he'll have food for a day, teach a man to fish, and he'll have food for a lifetime". Most world issues can 'easily' be solved, but the banks must keep the limelight off themsevles. If the American...no the world's people only knew what was lurking in the shadows...Maybe we can stop this horrible reality from continuing. Worst of all, the North American Union, and the European Union will effectively end the world as we know it. By dividing the world in to blocks, especially when the "puppeteers" are united for a common goal, it paves the way for a one world government - a totalitarian police state in which people are lead to believe they are free, however it is quite the opposite in reality.

Rather than petty arguments, or fighting Democrat vs. Republican fight against the true oppressors. Stop fighting and arguing over senseless issues that won't matter if we all are forced to live under totalitarian rule.

I find it interesting the only continent free of armed conflict currently is the center of the majority of military conflicts over the course of history. Is it possible that Europe is a sign of what's to come for the rest of the world? I would like to throw some(much needed) optimism into this thread and say that there's a possibility people have the capacity to get sick of fighting.

    I hate these topics...

Listen: NOTHING is going to change. Why the hell would 1st world countries want to give up power? Why would they want to make things equal? We have power, why not use it? I really don't want to get into an arguement about Iraq. The only thing that sounds a little thought out in your arguement is the fact that we need a stronger peace-keeping organization. However, humans are naturally both good and evil, they have grown up under different circumstances in different countries with different religions and values. Making the world "Communist" (as I imply by your suggestions) will not solve the world's problems. People who have grown up differently than Westerners would take such a situation as an advantage and could in a worst case scenario control the world (which of course will never happen due to the nature of humans).

Please, think before you speak. Don't make suggestions that will not happen and will not make things better. Instead of making everyone equal, use what you have to your advantage, and that includes helping others.

Some one has a grudge with the Federal Reserve Bank

Hey wait - Frankie did u save the FRB was private not a division of the Public service?

Ok I learnt something new just there 4.gif

Its just while the Reserve Bank of New Zealand is somewhat independent from our Executive, the Parliament can set the RBNZs Monetary Policy and the Finance Minister can use powers to intervene when needed.

Apart from that nice rant Frankie

While I wanted to avoid a Republican/Democratic spat I noticed at the top of page 2 the internal conflicts - seems MOST were durring Republican Administrations...

    And now for an Advertisement:

Want to get away from the World's Woes, Does you Government or Reserve Bank make you want to scream, Still want carry on with life and not worry about China, Russia and the US pointing nukes at you.

Then come on down to little old (well new) New Zealand.

Located in the South West Pacific on the opposite side of the world, New Zealand is home to 4.2 million people, 15 million cows, 45 million wooly sheep and nation that has told the almighty USA where to go for 20 years (in regards to Nuclear weapons and ships)

We are a British Commonwealth nation but that doesn't matter much, people pay little regard to the Queen and think not alot of Gordon Brown.

We are part of the West so called even though we are more independent to cultural influences than our Kangeroo Neighbours

The weather ranges from -20C and snow to 35C dry or with the odd Hurricane, so the Poms, Canadians and the Yankees won't miss the weather much - and we even get F3 tornados twice a year.

The terrain ranges from Alps, to Flats, snow to lush forests and deserts.

Auckland is the largest city at 1.2 million with the capital - Wellington at 324,000 and have a diverse cultural and economic range - and yes we even have WENDY's and Starbucks

We have volcanoes that erupt, a city that stinks (Rotorua - geo thermal) and we often either get the shakes (quakes) or cope a free blasting with 75 knot winds

We are a parliamentary democracy with no upper house and with the old bat (god bless her soul) Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. Although that will change is Chucks gets the throne

We dont have a President and are lead by Prime Ministers from either National or Labour

We use the $ and get access most global goods and services.

While the night life sucks, the day life is the best in the world

We have a university that is 42 in the world (that I attend) and education and healthcare is pretty sound along with Welfare

We are short on Labour so

If you hold a current passport, speak very good English and dont mind working for $16 an hour 45 hours a week (unless u are a CEO) then New Zealand is for you

It takes 2 years for Aussies to become citizens with the USA, Canada and UK 3, and everyone else 4 or more and oh NZ Passport means easy access to the UK, Australia and the US of A

So if you want to leave the world's worries behind and not worry about Russian Bears or B52s then New Zealand is your place.

Go to www.parliament.govt.nz and find the Immigration page, they'll sort it from there

That was posted to not only show our geo isolation to the world, but how NZ is a very comtempt but alert nation

We are aware of the worlds plight and will kick a stink when needed, but otherwise we would be oblivous if someone pushed that big red button.

I think on last count Bombers would need to refuel 2x before getting here and ICBMs would miss if they could get here
