Simtropolis 5th aniversary Plans

OK guys I read here: https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=22&threadid=91321&enterthread=y that its going to be simtropolis's 5th aniversary in fall/autumm and well thought we should think of ideas for what we can do on the aniversarry.

My ideas include:

special awards on the aniverssary. e.g. best cj ever etc

new release of DVD 

get a special geust on chat forum

Hope you guys can think of new ideas

Actually, we should probably put together a protocol of worship for the dirktator.  Through thick and thin, dirk has always come through.

I suggested this for Avatar Day, but it might work better for this:

Everyone has Dirk's avatar for that day, as a salute to our fearless leader!  My other idea is a net-a-thon, with a pledge drive to make sure that there will be at least another five years to come.  We could auction off some custom bats or CJ dedications or something.

I think we need one of the ancient members to confirm the date that the original Simtropolis was started. Anyway I like the idea... I also want to point out that late this fall ST will be celebrating its 5th annual Trixie awards... maybe we could combine the two celebrations?

IDK what kind of decorations you're thinking of, but you have to remember that the only person that can "decorate" ST is dirk himself.

I like this idea.  The admins have done a number of things over the years in honor of Dirk... I'm sure a lot of you remember simtropolislovesdirk.com.  Everyone having Dirk's avatar is a simple and easy way for the community as a whole to thank him for... basically everything.

Or... the 180,000+ members can walk, fly, or drive to Toronto and throw him a huge bash at the Rogers Centre.

Nah, wouldn't work... the Rogers Centre can't hold that many people.

how about a special trixies, like "The Mega-Trixies" which honor the sites best in the first five years, than then we'd have the regular 07 trixies.

i say the day ST began is the day dirk registered, so check that.

I think it would be a good idea to pick a day. We don't know the exact date but I am hearing October/November 2002. If we cannot pick an exact date then maybe we could decide on one as a community for a birthday

Wow, it's been 5 years already? How time goes by.

I like the idea for the banner on the homepage. Maybe it could have animated confetti coming down just like the animated winter banner, which had snow falling.

The avatar idea sounds great also. We could put up celebratory avatars of dirk or pictures of the number 5 in different fonts and forms... something along those lines. Maybe a couple members can could go into the web archive and collect memorable threads and compile a commemorative thread.

These are all great ideas guys, but remember, Dirk is the webmaster. If we do something like decorate the site, that means Dirk must decorate the site. If we did a Mega-Trixies, Dirk will have to do the work. Although all of these are really awesome ideas that would be really great to have, you have to remember this. Things not really involving to much work for Dirk are all great ideas.
