    Hello

First of all guys , i wanna thank everybody for the good comments and reply´s on this city

what i can say to this city , the city itself is almost in the start phase

today i have built a part of the second loop that goes around the downtown,

when the second loop is completed i wanna build the third loop, like houston had in real life

i use google earth to build the highways, because it should look a lil bit like the original :-)

the picture is not completed because i opended not many regions only the once where i constructed some streets and something like downtown :-)

a small info the region in all is 12 x 12 big cities :-)

    thscrewstonbb2.jpg

not a big step forward but i hope u can see the first try´s of a loop , now it doesn´t looks like a loop only a lil bit

and guys sorry for my bad english , i´am german

That is truly the most realistic transit map I've ever seen! And to think it's not even near being finished yet . . . TopCliff

looks almost exactly like the Houston map, it's a little off, but there's still alot of work and detail to go, but it is still very nice.

    Keep up the good work

Is that all the city? Cause, if you want 3.6million people, you need a map a lot bigger than that. Trust me, I'm doing it with Domeston 3.gif. But anyway, if that is just a little bit, than this is amazing! I hope you do well with the suburbs and outskirts!

I must admit, the transport map looks better than what I'd do!  But, if you are attempting to capture the look and feel of Houston freeways (you said that it wouldn't be a recreation, but a Houston-like city), you should flank your freeway mainlanes with feeder (frontage) roads spaced 2-4 tiles from the mainlanes, then place businesses along the feeders, especially in the suburbs.  Also, you may want to consider adding more lanes to your freeways, and adding high-mast lighting (I posted about this in your previous thread).  Still, I can't wait to see how this turns out (even if it's not a true recreation)!

The transportation map looks incredible! I can't wait to see how you fill in around it (residential, commercial, industrial). Are you planning to develop further out beyond the 610 loop?

you have to put some cities out of the outer beltway to make some farms & stuff so your city is really contrasting to it's enviroment

    looks great, the downtown area, only I have some critisism / suggestion;

in USA you could destinguish 2 different kind of Central Business Districts ->

    A) High Density with large buildings packed together

    B) Lower Density filled with large parking-areas surrounding and enclosing the CBD

Yours is truelly floating between these two. You should jam-pack the larger buildings more to eachother, or fill spaces in with large car-parks.

Anyhow, I love the brownish "old look" on the outer areas of the Downtown area!

Keep going, your road-usage looks great!!

Actually, E.J.C., his representation of Downtown Houston is pretty accurate. The taller buildings of downtown generally line Main St. (the avenue that runs throught his city) with a few exceptions. You'll find that Houston doesn't easily fit into categories like those you suggested. And LilFlipper hasn't even gotten to the more unique aspect of Houston's business districts yet. Those of us from Houston know what I'm talking about.

    Hello my friends

Today i have built a small part of the south and westside of the third loop

than now you can see in the south and west how wide the region is these 2 streets that runs out of the region is actually the west and south end of the whole region, now you have a small overlook how big this region is in the near future, because the downtown is in the middle of the region and from downtown to the north, east , south ,west there are correctly 5 big Cities in each direction and so i must correct me the region is 11 x 11 not 12x 12 Big Cities

and now a small population info : the population is around 51 000 all located in Downtown :-)

and Downtown has more than 210 000 commercial jobs at this time

someone say i should put highway mast to the freeway´s. but i have a big problem with highway lights because if i built these things on my freeways are now Sidewalk´s is there any mod to replace these sidewalks??? because it looks for me unrealistic if people walk on a highway 9.gif

    only people with suicide :-)

    so here the picture

That's pretty impressive. I don't have nearly the patience to go through all of that in the name of realism. Quite interesting though. I like some of the neat buildings downtown, too. Way to go, man.

Looks like your doing a good job with the 610-Loop and Sam Houston Tollway (Beltway 8). Don't forget about the pierce elevated near downtown. Where are you going to place the University reward (U of H or Rice)??

Wow, beltway 8 is sure coming along well, the university reward should go to Rice because it looks more like a traditional university. U of H is a more complex university with some mid rise buildings on it
