Thanks everyone! I'll reply to you all tomorrow but I have to announce something: from now on I will be including special events (of the US anyway, or famous people) in this cj. For example, this cj started too late for the 4th of July, but tomorrow I'm going to try to put a flowery-by-highway mosic in rememberence of Ladybird Johnson. Just so you know, that's an example, but will be done. So will Halloween, Thanksgiving (for America) or if requested other holidays of countries. Just so you know. 9.gif

archesrule29: Thanks! It seems realistic to me to have them nearby, at least where I live. Thanks again!

jacky: Thanks! Somy's got some great stuff, if it weren't for him my ports would stink. 3.gif

penguin: Thanks! I'll have plenty more of it.

homeandaway: Hey you're back! Thanks for coming in, I'm glad you like it so far. I've got another one right now too...thanks for your support! 9.gif

Mikeaut1: Wow thanks! 4.gif I think that city was my favorite to build so far. Lots of fun...actually there's one that surpasses it...but you'll have to wait... 11.gif

    Time for the dedication...

    "Ladybird Johnson"

Claudia Johnson, the wife of Lyndon B Johnson, the 35th president of the United States serving from 1963-1969, nicknamed "Ladybird," she is famous for beautifying the highways all around America. She raised some funds and eventually had a law passes requiring every state to spend one quarter of 1% on wildflowers to be planted along highways. In memory, I have created a mosaic of...well...a highway going through some wildflowers. What else? 3.gif

    top-15.jpg
    bottom-14.jpg

As always, I hope you like it! Enjoy! 9.gif

Your Across the Bay was awesome! Your CBD there was pretty realistic.

As for the highway, it's alright. Maybe some traffic would be nice. The concept is there though. I sure would like to drive on a highway with flowers everywhere to greet me.

jacky: aren't they? They're by Sorchin and I believe they're on the STEX. Thanks!

Krio: lol! It is bumpy, I never level them. So true...

penguin: Thanks! That's what this update it, a region view.

Deever: wow thanks! Yeah I tried to apply all I knew to that one 3.gif I forgot about the traffic, I have effects off. I should remember to turn it back on! Yeah, those flowers are everywhere now, each state has different wildflowers that are natve to the location...lol I saw it on CBS 9.gif

Well, here's the purpose of the update: region views! I'll start with Leavenworth...I'll try to do region shots every 10 updates 4.gif

Name: Leavenworth, named after Leavenworth, Washington (Bavarian village, quite nice 4.gif)

    Thanks C0ckatoo!

    Here's the next update...

    Modern Industry

Though not the largest industrial center, Portofina is definitely the most advanced, as you can see. Nearly 100,000 sims work in these high-tech industries each day.

Enjoy everyone! Hope you like it! There are a couple more Portofina ones left I believe...I'll try to be more fluent in the updates.

penguin: Thanks! Yeah I'll try to put those in every once in a while.

cleaner: Thanks, a sunset picture sounds good nice idea.

Deever: They sure are! I believe they're among the tallest in the city, almost a second downtown. Thanks!

jacky: Thanks! I have to say they were my favorite to build.

Well, everyone, sorry for the lack of updates. We had a power surge the other day and my internet was down. So, today, I have some catching up to do. I'll start with this...and don't worry, I have 2 small mosaics that I'll try to show this afternoon. I made them specifically as teasers for next week's updates, in which we'll be leaving Portofina. All I can say is, make sure you have a nice beach mat and some sunscreen! 9.gif Though I must admit the borders are only to cover up the minus signs...3.gif

    THE PORT

Industrial capital it may me, Portofina doesn't have the largest industrial population of the region. However, it is currently the only place to export goods such as coal, oil, or steel. The entire nation relies on Portofina to send and receive goods every day. If it weren't for the ports, the region wouldn't be nearly as large as it is. Oh and by the way, see that large patch of dirt near the top right? That's one of the settings for the reply banner. The other one was before Portofina was built.

Muzz: Thanks, lol, I always forget to keep automata on, I'll make sure to have it on whenever I can, though these mosaics are dated, so I can't change them now. 34.gif

BlondeTwiggy: Thanks! *makes checklist* that Brigantine mod does look nice, doesn't it? Yeah, the sims are all walkers. But they're wearing invisibility cloaks! 3.gif lol yeah no emissions except for breathing. And I'll have the first shot of sun tomorrow with some shots of the same city today. 9.gif

penguin: Thanks! Glad you like it.

jacky: Hehe thanks, yeah I like them to blend together, thanks so much. 9.gif

Schulmanator: Hehe! Thanks! No Led Zeppelin concert on the pier though. But the TSW shoe factory is thinking about setting up shop on the north side. 3.gif

SimRabbit: Hey thanks! Glad you like it.

Well well well, you're all such a lucky bunch, today you get TWO mosaics! Lucky ducks!

The Hillside/The Hillside from the Other Side

    regiontravelupdate1314.jpg

As we board the tour bus, we get on I-47. We head northeast and enter the Kona Island Tunnel, the 1.2 mile long connection between Portofina and Kona Island. As we come out of the tunnel, we immediately pass through large hills so only the tallest skyscrapers are visible. We soon arrive in the town of Tent Pegs, a small coastal community of 35,000. We stop at a market to restock on items and then head north. Soon we come to a large avenue y-stack and take the northeast fork. Going through some cottages, we have a choice: turn right and enter the resort complex or stay on the northgoing road into town. We stay going north and are treated to these next two mosaics, downtown Kona Ridge. Notics how the palm trees are only on the side of the road: if you have ever been to Hawaii or other tropical island, you'll know that not every tree is always a palm tree. The city council, however, voted to plant tall coconuts along the side of the road to fool tourists who didn't care to enter the woods. Well I'm sure if you're reading this you're one of the few who will, so thank you, but I'll hold off now and just show you the mosaics.

    top-18.jpg
    bottom-17.jpg

As you can see, the area is densely urbanized and there isn't really a density transition here. But hey, nobody cares. 3.gif Sorry for the no traffic. 21.gif

    top-19.jpg
    bottom-18.jpg

Enjoy! And remember, tomorrow I'll show you the resorts and the beach!

    Thanks penguin!

So, I'm posting this late again. But I got it the same day this time. I just added some nice sun...

    SOLITUDE

Not much left to explain...though solitude is completely the wrong word. If I counted right there are no less than 15 resorts in Kona Ridge. This mosaic shows 2. To prevent being asked later, the hotels are:

    tall-Conrad International by HKABT

    short-Oppie's beach resort

    top-20.jpg

    middle-2.jpg

    bottom-19.jpg

Bright enough? I'm still seeing stars. But believe me, it gets brighter. However, the temperatures stay cool all day, usually getting no higher than 80 degrees Fahrenheit and well out of the way of hurricanes. If you think this picture was bright, this was only the late morning sun, just wait until it's noon! (that explains why there are no shadows)

    Enjoy everyone! 9.gif

I'm really liking the port areas but my only criticism is that you're mixing the Sci-Fi BAT's with you're ordinary realistic buildings and town planning. I think it could look alto better if you removed them but it's you're choice. I like the effects on the last mosaic alot, maybe you could turn off that grid though (Press G key in game)

Overall great work, I love how some of you're cities are looking!
