I've found a way you can make this CJ a little better.  Use The GIMP's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gimp) "Cartoon" filter.  Like take for example that hotel panel:  Here's what it looked like before:

Before.jpg

I was fooling around with different filters in GIMP, and I thought...."hey, this Cartoon filter would be GREAT for Eddies' CJ, so I applied it to the above picture, and got this:

After.jpg

What do you guys think?  I think it would really match with the drawn art. 4.gif

    "It's Never Too Late"

Two rival mob families fight for control of Gotham City in an all-out gang war. Meanwhile, Arnold Stromwell--the crime boss on the losing end--realizes that he must come to terms with his past, and that "It's Never Too Late" to redeem oneself.

Story by: Tom Reugger and Garin Wolf

    Adapted by: SpecialEddie

football_fever: Heh, you never mentioned that before. Strange how art imitates life. Or vice versa, if she's seen Pretty Poison. 3.gif

ky72x: Glad you like the banners, I put a lot of effort into making the them look nice. I'm also glad that you noticed the hospital at dawn. Come to think of it--they DO look pretty similar!

BubbaGump: Ah, the glories of full circle endings and it's great to see that you took note of the Harvey-Bruce dialogue. Mhhm, indeed! And you are absolutely correct, I did show a peek at this in PGC. Let's see how it turns out!

    jacqulina: Thanks, jacky. Well appreciated.

Benedict: One word: plan ahead. Okay, maybe two. 3.gif

    csgsceri: Thanks, c!

Draconiator: I use the GIMP, so linking it wasn't really necessary. 2.gif And I have tried that cartoon effect. It just looks silly and unrealistic for the look I'm going for. I work hard to find buildings with details similar to the ones in the episodes themselves, and that effect just tarnishes all the effort. Thanks for the suggestion though.

sEAhAwk fAn121: Yeah you've made that clear by now. 21.gif

I see you changed your avatar. Nice! But I liked your old one better. 3.gif

I can't wait to see how this storyline plays out. It does sound quite interesting, especially the description of the next update.

The sprawling mansion of Arnold Stromwell.

This update will also include character profiles of the two rival mob bosses, Arnold Stromwell and Salvatore Maroni.

ky72x: Glad you like the new avatar (even though your preference leans towards the old one). 2.gif You'll probably like this storyline as well. It's very 1930s noir. No villains, just good old Italian gangsters.

    BubbaGump: Thanks, Bubba.

    Arnold Stromwell

Arnold Stromwell has been the king of the Gotham underworld ever since the mental breakdown of Carmine "The Roman" Falcone. His empire of drugs and violence has torn his family apart, and to make matters worse, a new gangster is quickly gaining power, threatening the city he has sacrificed so much to take control of.

    10ap6.jpg

    Salvatore Maroni

Salvatore Maroni is someone no one wants to get in the way of. He's new to the city, but he's already compiled an impressive resume: murder, graft, drugs. Even corruption, which the Batman worked so hard to rid the city of, is returning once again thanks to Rupert Thorne's influence on Gotham City's politicians. He has been arrested many times, but is always released soon after--usually due to lack of evidence.

Rumor has it, he's trying to take control of the entire city's underground rackets. Arnold Stromwell is the only person standing in his way...

Next in "It's Never Too Late": The mob war escalates, and Maroni has a plan to rid Stromwell once and for all--in classic Italian fashion!

That house is insanely accurate. The bright green tree is even plopped in the proper place. 44.gif Talk about detail, the cars are similar too although they differ in colors.

Informative character bios as well. Looks like there'll be some friction between those two...

Hey Eddie, you're pumping em so fast I can't keep the pace! hehehe...

VERY interesting stories, and great scenery, the Giordano Botanical Garden is a perfect example! Impressive.

I also like your choice for stromwell manor, there's a lot of similarities. It has a Frank Lloyd Wright look!

looking forward to the Stromwell/Maroni plot!

    Great work my friend!

That has got to be the most perfect building choice to represent the one in the show. Except for the color, they look exactly alike. Even the car parked in the driveway is similar! Ah, profiles. Can't get any better than that. Nice work on the update, keep it up!

The gang war escalates, but things are complicated when Stromwell's son goes missing. Sure that Maroni has his son, Stromwell organizes a meeting with him. Meanwhile, the younger mob boss has bigger plans...

TheSixCents: Ironically, I hate those episodes. 3.gif But hey, we each have different preferences.

BubbaGump: Good eye! I was quite glad with the result of the tree-placement.

Interesting... very interesting... I liked the black-and-white news panels, those were pretty realistic since it felt like you were actually watching the report. Stromwell's family portrait looks a bit cheesy though, don't you think? I guess you can't avoid those things sometimes. 3.gif Nice in-game shots of the pizza place, but why isn't it night in the shots like in the show stills? These updates are getting better and better, keep it up Eddie!

Very noir! Italian gangsters, pizza palaces, "shadier dealings!" 9.gif

And Bruce Wayne the Bum--that's something new! 3.gif Great work once again matching Pete's Pizza.

ky72x: Hey, you're becoming quite the frequent commenter! 9.gif Good to see that you liked the news report. You bring up a good point, however, his family portrait looks out of place. Maybe because it's painted while Stromwell is animated. 3.gif However, the pizza place is supposed to be in day-time. See the panel where the caption says: Pete's Pizza. It is clearly in the daytime--it just looks dark inside the restaurant, giving the night-time feel. 2.gif

BubbaGump: Thanks, Bubba. Bruce Wayne the Bum--never head THAT before. 3.gif

Thanks, Eddie. I always love it when there's a fresh, new update here.

Nice church. Although it doesn't match the color of the one in the cartoon they still look quite similar. Keep the excellent work coming!

On his way to meeting Maroni, Stromwell flashes back to a key childhood event. Meanwhile, Batman reassures his deal with a priest...

BubbaGump: Thanks. Well the city IS called Gotham...

ky72x: Gotham City's fresh all the time then. There's a new update everyday.3.gif Indeed the church doesn't match colors, but it was the best I could find. It has a similar facade (stained glass windows and everything), and it's a great BAT. I wanted to use it. Btw, the lights are off on purpose. 2.gif

Very nice, very nice. I liked the flashback, it was good to see some of Stromwell's past. You have to feel kind of sorry for him for what happened. As always, the in-game shots were excellent and went along perfectly with the panels. It would be ever better if a train was passing through that very moment! Keep up the good work, I can't wait for more.

    Hi, SpecialEddie,

    (Remember me?) 30.gif 42.gif 33.gif 37.gif 29.gif

It's never too late to leave a reply, right?  I apologize for my absence, but I will get caught up.  I took a (wonderful 10.gif) ten day vacation  to Seattle in August.  First, I was getting ready to go--then I was catching up when I got back.  I've had time only to lurk, and that on a limited basis.  Don't ever go into management, my son, no one does your work when you're gone.  20.gif

Unlike at the workplace, I'm glad to see you've not let things go here.  40.gif  23 pages, yowza!!  I've just been enjoying the nicely matched Manor (the walls are from BSC parks), the subterfuge, the familiar waffle house turned pizza place, the cathedral.  That cathedral is one kicka$$ BAT.  It's been so fun to see the elements from Planning.  Oh, so that's why Stromwell was afraid of trains...is Father's first name...Mike?  Just a guess.

Well, here's looking forward to things going boom.

    Bye for now.

A busy weekend and I missed a couple of updates - good stuff, love the flashback scene. The cathedral is beautiful and fits really well. And the bad news is that I'll be missing a whole week of simtrop! At least I'll have a megaread when I get back...

Stromwell and Maroni come face-to-face. But at the end of the night, someone is going to get cooked...just like an oven pizza.

sEAhAwk fAn121: I'm sure everyone has gotten the idea about your explosion fetish by now. 2.gif

tohokingdom: Well "Creativity" IS my middle name. No, really. 38.gif

ky72x: That would be quite difficult--waiting for a train to pass by while driving automata. 3.gif That railroad track is hardly used too, partly why I decided to take a picture there. Nevertheless, it would've looked interesting. Thanks for commenting!

Livin in Sim: Wha...? Who are you? 3.gif

Appropriate time to make a comeback (It's Never Too Late). *cringes at puns* Hope you had a good vacation, and don't worry, I don't plan on getting into management any time soon. 20.gif

And yes, the CJ has grown a little while you've been gone (updating everyday, woot). Glad you like all the BATs, too. It must be neat to see all the elements from PGC in full in this CJ. "Is father's name Mike?" Well there you go, spoiling the twist. 27.gif Good guess, though!

    See you around.

Benedict: Benedict going a week without ST? Never!

csgsceri: There you go showing-off again. 3.gif

My favorite update of the storyline so far by a mile.  It was a very entertaining one, and I really, really liked the shot where the restaurant is burning in-game.  You picked the perfect time to take a picture, just when the fire reached its peak.  Kudos!  Keep it up! 44.gif

Great update, the dialogue is your typical face-to-face mob confrontation. Awesome and very dramatic. And the explosion--what can I say? That's what we all come here to see!
