Welcome to Page 13!39.gif

The update is nice, I particularly like the buildings you have along the Main Street in downtown. Did you find the buildings (which look like two levels of stores and such) on the stex?

Big change from yesterday's replies! 3.gif

dfnva: First off, thanks for opening lucky page 13!  Glad you liked Main Street.  Regarding the stores, most of them are by spa and they are available on either the STEX, obviously here, or the LEX, at SC4D.  However, JBSimio's buildings are only available on the LEX.  Thanks for the comment, Dan!

I hope you enjoyed the Main Street updates!  Part Three coming at the end of the week.

    Thanks for visiting Auburn Valley!

Thanks for the info. As for this picture, I like where the parking is behind the stores, sort of the way it's done at "lifestyle centers" or whatever you call those shopping centers made to look like faux downtowns.

Awesome pictures, Kyle! They seem to include all the things I like most in your CJ. The noise mitigation walls along the rail line are a great detail, also the way the railway cuts through that residential area is realistic. The Main Street commercials blend in perfectly with the nearby housing. Very well done!

seemurray2: Thanks! I try to have a good blend of colors, and spa's buildings do just that.

dfnva: Thank you for commenting!  I'm glad you liked the parking lots.  I think I should've made some behind the other W2W's (2x3's) as well, but it's too late to change that now!  Oh well, next time I create something like this I will.

bbfan02: I think so too.  Thank you for the comment!

Schulmanator: I am as long as I'm getting paid. 3.gif

gabry85: I'm glad you liked the updates!  Finally, Part 3 has arrived.

zelgadis: Yep!  They are some awesome houses, which is precisely why I use them.   Plus, they blend real well, just like you said.

edmonton_stinks: Who doesn't?  Thanks for the comment! 9.gif

PhilsCafe: I'm not quite sure yet on what city I should focus on for my next series of updates.  But one things for sure, it'll value the same things that are emphasized it all of my cities - variety!  And of course, realism.  Glad you liked the railroad and the Main Street buildings.  Thank you for commenting!

    jacqulina: Thank you, Jacky!

suplado!: Thanks!  I'm glad that you liked the update.

Welcome, all, to Jackson Park - Part Three of Four.  In today's update, the Northeastern corner of the city will be showcased.  The main industrial sector of the city is located here.  Because of that, the residential areas are surrounded by walls that separate them from both the railroad as well as the factories.  Retail businesses and car dealerships line the avenue, which is no different than the other side of the city.

Here is a shot of one of the residential areas mentioned in the summary above.  It's like a gated community, being surrounded by walls, but functions just like a regular subdivision.

    jacksonparksep459120495hx0.jpg

An apartment building, office park, and more trails lie right across the road from the subdivision.

    jacksonparkmar126012049fj5.jpg

Previously, no fire station was located in this area because everyone believed that the station in the Southwestern corner of the city was adequate.  But boy, were they wrong...

    jacksonparkoct305712044yf3.jpg

A large explosion occurred in one of the small industrial labs located here one night, destroying that building instantly and causing nearby buildings to erupt in flames.  It wasn't long before they all burnt down.  Luckily, the fire occurred at around 2:30 in the morning, so no one was killed.  Also, the nearby power plant and other neighboring buildings did not catch on fire.  Rubble from the fire remained for several months, but eventually it was finally removed.

    jacksonparkaug265812049ml6.jpg

A new fire station was built next to the police station to prevent against future disasters.

Nice area. They sure have a lot of walls... must be some bad traffic. LOVE those big coke cans by the rail line... they are awesome!

Another great update. I particularly like the industrial areas and the commerical strip. That's a nice Carl's JR bat. I wonder if in the industrial sector there's a cannery... i.e. the Jackson Cannery (the name of the first song on Ben Folds Five's first commercial album).

bbfan02: Thanks Kyle!  I'm pleased that you liked everything.

Schulmanator: Yup, walls are pretty prominent on this side of town... mostly because residential development was pushed right against the highway after industrial zoning was designated in the area from the city's start.  I like those Coke cans, too!  I just wonder if they store all the soda in them.  If you wish, you can download the building here.  Thank you for the comment!

jacqulina: Thank you for commenting, Jacky!  That's exactly what I'm aiming for - realism. 9.gif

lmcm1990: I'm not sure if you're talking about the old one in Auburn Bay, or the one in Remington Bay, but either way, thanks!

dfnva: Thanks!  I think that the Carl's Jr. is an excellent BAT.  You can download it here.  Just to let you know, though, I edited the lot by adding many props, so don't be surprised if it looks different!  Maybe there is a cannery... just maybe. 3.gif

edmonton_stinks: Thank you for the comment, loyal reader!  I'm glad that you liked all of the pictures.  If you though this was a lot, just wait till Part 4!  Now that'll be an epic update, no doubt. 19.gif

Good news!  I just finished taking pictures for the second mosaic of Part 3, and Part 4 of Jackson Park.  So, everything should go pretty smoothly for the upcoming updates.  Also, since my Spring Break starts next week, I'll finish off Jackson Park with a Bonus Update sometime then, and finally I'll attempt to try to find a new city for another series.  I'm looking at continuing Covina again, although there are a few another candidates for the limelight.

Remember, that mosaic is coming later this week!  Thanks for visiting Auburn Valley.

heh, spring break; you kids sure have it easy 3.gif!

sorry i haven't visited lately; something always seems to come up... after all the great comment you leave me in my CJ, i have to repay the favor 9.gif!

i see you're a fan of the great lofts that DT made, eh? and judging from the rest of your BATs, i can see that you've been cruising through the exchange over on SC4D.

DT's houses look weird next to the wimpy Maxis ones. but everything still looks clean and organized here. i also noticed you're a fan of mosaics, as well 3.gif! some great stuff going on over here; bring on that teaser shot!

I see. I am always trying to figure out how to increase the variety in my cities. The technique of turning certain buildings historical does get tedious.

Dsrwhat316: You might want to take back the comment about us having it easy. 3.gif Sometimes it is, like right now, but sometimes you feel like all the work is given to you around the same time (something that I think is true).

Don't worry about having to comment on every update.  Lately I've been finding more free time to be on the computer, so it's much easier to keep up with all my favorite CJ's, as opposed to last September.

Darn right.  Certain building tend to be really overused in my cities, and you'll notice that his lofts are some of them.  But I can't help it, they look so nice!  C'mon, admit it: You love 'em too. 3.gif And yes, I do visit SC4D daily as well.  Kinda my "ST away from ST," I'd say. 2.gif

I know what you mean.  But I won't remove Maxis completely, I just won't let them take over my cities.  So don't be surprised if you see an occasional vanilla building sandwiched between two huge houses.  I sure do like mosaics!  In fact, that's exactly what this update is.  I still don't understand where you got the crazy idea that I was going to give a "teaser shot," though. 3.gif

Thanks for the great comment, Dan!

sobol: In the end, it's worth it.  I say that all the time.  I hate making everything historical, but since most of the houses that grew in Jackson Park were on pretty big lots, it wasn't too much of a hassle to click that box in their queries.  Thank you for commenting!

jacqulina: Thanks!  Update coming right up.

Shanna: Thank you, I'm glad you liked both of those areas!  It tells me that you read through the whole update, I appreciate that.

Here's the second mosaic of Part 3.  Hope you enjoy it!

Tomorrow, I'm leaving for a big band trip to Sacramento, California.  The trip won't take too long (I live about 200 miles from the city) but I won't be back until Saturday.  I'm planning to update with Part 4 that day.  Until then, I'll see you later!

    Thanks for visiting Auburn Valley!

Have fun on your band trip, what instrument do you play?

Thanks also for the info on the Carl's, JR. In parts of Virginia, we have Hardee's which, at one point, merged with Carl's JR as Hardee's now has the same logo (smiling star).

    Nice mosaic.

Very interesting use of the walls! And nice little community. 4.gif I see you have some of those wee little triangular parks. May I inquire as to where you procured them? I would very much like to have a set for my very own. 9.gif
