It has been about a week since I last updated, but I have been a little busier lately so really that was just a short break compared to the long hiatuses in Monarch Valley!  Lately I haven't been working on Auburn Valley, instead I have been working on another region focused mainly on farming.  Anyhow, I figured you guys might like a few downtown close-ups, so that way I can take a break from Auburn Bay and work on that downtown transition issue later.  Replies and a teaser next update!

P.S: Sorry about the pictures that are paused; I didn't want anything happening while I was taking all those pictures.

    REPLIES:

cleaner475: Thanks!  Yes eventually I will... whenever I use Henderson as an update I will post some night pics.  Glad you liked it!
granto93: Thank you!  Well, I just made that up but a port needs ample parking, right?  Heh heh heh.
jacqulina: Thanks my friend.  I'm glad you liked the port, another major port area will be featured in another update!
Godzillaman: Thanks!  Yeah I know it would, but in this case I simply did not have enough space.  I will put that into consideration in the future though.
jrhnemo: Thank you!  I'm glad you liked it!
BlondeTwiggy: Thanks Twiggy!  Yeah that is something I plan to fix, but right now I have a bunch of other cities almost ready for an update so Auburn Bay probably probably won't be featured for a long time.
AceofSpades: Thanks!  I'm glad you liked it as well!
Schulmanator: Thank you! Yes I agree this is a good start, I think this is doing much better than Monarch Valley.
Mike the Mayor: Thanks!  I prefer taking night pics because they look that way... and sharpening them with IrfanView makes them look better.

One teaser shot from a small-tiled suburb of Auburn Bay... it lies in the middle of several diverse cities laid out to the east of the main industrial strip.

I have some good news to report.  I'm now a member of the URSC!  There won't be any immediate changes to this yet, but perhaps in the future parts of the region may be focused on whatever events we're doing at that time.

Since I provided a teaser, obviously I must update... so here we go!

Westside.  It pretty much describes its location in Auburn Valley.  Laid out directly west of Auburn Bay, it serves as a suburb for it but mostly for its neighbor to the south, Larkinspur.  Most of the buildings that make up the city are apartments, with a modest downtown on the edge of the city dotted with a few skyscrapers.  It is unique in that no freeways serve the city, however it is practically bordered by freeways as you will see in my region few, coming next update.

Here are the links to the apartments on the STEX.  They were all created by NDEX's DuskTrooper.  I use these  very, very heavily in my cities - as you will see in coming updates.
    Belton Lofts
    Jacinto Lofts
    Greywood Lofts
    Thaneplace Lofts
    Oakendell Lofts

A shot of the downtown strip, with the Prime Tower in full view.

Close up shot of an Oakendell Loft, with two Greywood Lofts in the background.
    westsidejun101111833061qk3.jpg

High crime was becoming a big problem in the city's industrial sector...
    westsidejun151111833062ig7.jpg

So a brand new police station was built.
    westsidemay512118330638fw0.jpg

The city's power source and some large factories.
    westsidemay181211833064zz3.jpg

Westside's soccer stadium.  Soccer, along with baseball are very popular sports throughout the region.
    westsidemay301211833065rb2.jpg

Lastly, a shot of the One Pacific Place and the Shareware Tower at night.

That's it for now, enjoy and take care

    REPLIES

Amerikaner: Thanks Luke!  It's quite alright, I do it often too...
BlondeTwiggy: Thank you Twiggy!  Yes that is something that is new with this CJ, Monarch Valley was mostly focused on my bigger cities so you all didn't get to see much else.  I am currently working on a smaller city that has a few skyscrapers, but is not too big.
granto93 (x2): Thank you very much!  Well I tried to make it small but the residents kept commuting to my bigger cities so I just got fed up and plopped all those skyscrapers.  It turned out pretty good, too!  Yes it does lol!
Snakecollector: Thanks Ethan!  I'm glad you liked it.
    Schulmanator: Thanks a bunch!
cleaner475: Thank you!  I made a city that powers a bunch of cities neighboring it so every city doesn't have to have a power plant.  But cities like Westside have to provide their own power, Solar is usually my first choice.

    Region update/census next update!

    Time for a region update!

This is my region so far, as you can see I've extended the development to to west and a little to the east, of Auburn Bay, but to the south there is absolutely nothing.  Soon I plan to make an airport in that area, as well as extend development all the way up to the mountains.  Plus there are some cities not shown in this picture, but they are minor for now. And about that census thing, the total population of Auburn Valley is about 1,200,000.  I didn't get the chance to add the commercial and industrial jobs.

Great region shot. That preview pic is one of the best detailed pics I have ever seen. The trees on the road and the flats is prefect.

By the way in pic 4 of the last update where can I get the police station?

    Keep up the great work

REPLIESJman47: Thanks!  Yeah that's kind of the effect that I'm trying to get - I've been to LA many times and know how steep the change is between skyscrapers and low -rises.
jacqulina: Thank you Jacky.  I am glad you like it!
BlondeTwiggy: Thanks Twiggy!  I'm glad you liked it.
granto93: Thank you!  Yes I am trying to get that effect with Auburn Valley.  My goal is that I can reach over 2,000,000 in total population by the end of my summer vacation, by extending development to the west and south as well.
Amerikaner: Thanks Luke!  My regions tend to be like this, with a bunch of large downtowns not far from the biggest city.  It's kind of like a triangle, or a square, or whatever shape it happens to form.
    cleaner475: Thank you Richard!
abcvs: Thanks Craig!  Yeah I like region shots a lot too.  The NASCAR track?  Well NASCAR has not has it's presence felt in Auburn Valley just yet, right now the two big sports are baseball and soccer.
Deever: Thanks.  I'm glad you liked it!
MsD: Thanks Debs, I'm glad you came and visited here!  I'm glad you liked the seaport, there are more to come.  I use IrfanView, a picture program that I use for resizing and editing pics.  It has a bunch of effects you can use, as you can see I use the 3D effect.  It can be downloaded free here.
penguin007: Thanks!  I am glad that you liked it.  Heh heh, I just use jeronij's Side Street MOD.  It does look nice anywhere.  The police station can be found here, but you must first register at the site.  Just a couple teaser shots showcasing what is to come soon.

It's been almost a month since I made a full update here, just haven't been playing SC as much lately as last month so really I have not made to much progress in Auburn Valley.  Anyway, last teaser I showed a couple shots from a city I've been working on lately.  Here goes!

Covina is a city located West of Auburn Bay and directly north of Larkinspur.  Like most cities in Auburn Valley, Covina's economy relies heavily on Manufacturing Industry and Commercial offices.  Since it is located in an area of Auburn Valley that houses many industrial cities, many roads and railroads have connections to them, a major source of Covina's development.  Also, with the AH-3 running right through the heart of Covina, the city quickly grew in size.  Today, it stands as the 3rd largest city in Auburn Valley and is a major location for business and trade.

Here are some shots of numerous retail developments in Covina.  Although Covina is mostly urban, suburban development has taken up most of the space to the west of the city.

Sweet job on the shopping centers. I've always felt that the basic commercial set of buildings that come in Sim City always lacked realistic shopping centers in terms of those that seem to be quite common in many cities.
