Im usually very wrong , but i have a theory and a few clues on the gingerbread , I havent actually seen a gingerbread house in any screen shots ,  i went on there site saying there screenies looked like candy , maybe just maybe they playing with us , i for one done take it to seriously ,,,...and so what if there is who cares , i goto put up with a hovel from C3 and you think you have it tough ..

I think we should look at SCS as a fun spin off or w/e of sim city ,Enjoy / Hate it  one thing for sure i cant at this piont see, is a long term hardcore following of this version, not that it benifits the makers any as they are usually just looking for the 1 sale ,if you bin it the week after ,or play it for a decade finacialy to them there are no gains from long term players unless they make it into a series , sims is pretty unique as in add on packs released from EA , however  they are not out of the woods yet .

Also i can see a lot of ruined thanks givings when papa cant get the damn( that isnt realy swearing in english in england ,lol ) game to run on the families 12 month old pc ..High end gamers play 3 d games , and even then the lag can be crippling unless your running some of the very best rigs .However once you unwrap the packaging and try installing the game your unlikely to be able to return the goods. Over all sales for SCS will be huge but customer satisfaction will be nil . A lot of the market will find they need a £1200+ rig to get any kind of fun from the game . £1240 is a big investment  for young ones to play SCS .imho

Players can challenge authority and experiment with what happens when citizens flagrantly disobey power in an unruly Orwellian society.quote>

This is completely unrealistic and game-breaking! Everyone knows citizens do not disobey in an Orwellian society. It's just unheard of.

As for the Gingerbread houses...As long as my sims obey every command like they do in "The Sims", I'm okay with bulldozing a few sugary sweet cities.

Remember citizens!

Sweetness is Bitterness!

Poverty is Power!

Dimness is enlightenment!

It's a press release people! They're always always chockful of marketingspeak, it doesn't mean a thing. Stop taking it that literally, it only makes you look foolish.

Check out that gigantic 6.gif soccer field!

And those clear and sharp road markings, 30 ft further... 35.gif

I guess, I'll check out City Life 2, it's promising to become much more in every single aspect. 3.gif

Ouch, that soccer field is horribly unrealistic. I too will keep an eye on CL2.

I won't buy this game.  Simcity is by far my favorite game by maxis and I am a simcity fan at heart.  Tilted Mill made (i'm sorry) terrible games.  Children of the Nile was alright but it didn't make any sense, and Caesar IV was just the worst game I have ever played.

This is NOT a simcity game, it's just another horrible attempt at making a great Simcity game.

Maxis, you really let not only me but thousands of Simcity lovers down.  I won't buy this game at all and I will encourage others not to buy it as well.

It's a shame...

MY ORWELLIAN INTENTIONS SHALL NOT BE CONSTRAINED!

A 1984 simulator would be awesome, but not for SimCity.

Guys this game's graphics really do appear to suck completely, but remember some things. One it's a solely 3D game, until we can create our own 3D worlds and run them on our computers, anymore, if not this, would be way to much to run on our computers. Okay that was probably stupid, but you get my point right? And two don't forget what we, well not we as in me, can do with modding and BAT. Remember that assuming that custom content will be possible. I am not going to buy the game right away, because I have hard enough time running SC4 on my computer, and also there are too many cool things here to just abandon. But I really think that if looked at positively the game is going to be pretty cool, at least I think so anyways.

It seems a more positive move than Rush Hour was.quote>

Edude, the problem is that SimCity was always more complicated than the average game. It will never really appeal to people who like easy, watered down city sims. CityLife was such a game and its success has been limited, to say the least. The people who wanted a complex and realistic city building game stayed away from CL and consequently it made a quick leap to the discount bin. SCS throws the baby, the bathwater, the tub, and the kitchen sink out.

Game companies seem to forget that many of us may have been the "youth" market when SC was first introduced but  we have aged and we still play these games. Game companies that forget that the gaming community is not age static usually end up taking a big hit. Nintendo forgot that little point when they created N64 and stuffed it with Pokemon games. Playstation ripped it apart and Nintendo has been on the defensive ever since.

I try to keep an open mind about SCS but they keep slamming my mind's door shut. Gingerbread houses!! SC3k introduced the regional cooperation concept. This was enlarged in SC4 and represents one of the biggest improvements in the SC series since SC2K. However, the games seems to be ditching this element along with such other "non-core" elements like zones, power lines, and water.

Gah, that's my beef with these new screen shots. The older ones were not as bad as this. I think they must have finally gotten around to adding bump mapping or something, and forgot to tone it down. Either that, or they need to turn bump mapping off. It isn't adding to the atmosphere of the game, nor is it making things appear sharper. They look more ugly when it's that strong. They really need to tone it down.

This looks as if it could be a great game...but the roads are so big and American! And still all griddy, not everythings square! If this truly is a game of other cultures then they haven't looked at the roads! Over here for example (England) the roads are small, higgalty piggalty going eveywhere, like little lanes, not giant grids! Made up of duel carrage ways! But as long as I can build a victorian looking British city, thats got a dictator-like-king (myself! Whooohoo!) running it...I'll be happy!

My CJ? I did try to make one once...but I nver uploaded it and I lost the city...I think. That was a British like city, but had an absolute monarch, but I never finished it. I did use NAM on the cities, but it was still kinda square, but I put up with it. Hey! Someone could make a NAM for this! But why don't the develpers just put in, like I said! I still think I'll buy the game, because it sounds goodish! So I'll be Happy and don't worry like you said old chap!

Didn't I post this? Was it deleted? Why?

What would happen if EA was just playing a cruel joke on us? (highly unlikely)

(post-time interview)

ST: So, the Fun Cities and Orwellian cities were all fake?

EA: Gingerbread houses? Did you think we were serious?

ST: Where's SimCity 5?

EA: Maxis is working on it. See, it's development hell, as with Spore. Is that okay?

ST: And what's Tilted Mill doing then?

EA: What? We bought it and dissolved it. We're an evil empire, that's we do.quote>

So did I go insane, I'm sure I posted it, just tell me why you deleted it.

~ COMING SOON! Exciting new projects! ~

Where are the tree's on the street. In fact I really see zilch in reagrds to any flora, trees or anything green.

The graphics are not bad, but they need more attention to detail on certain things. The streetscapes look bland and boring.

They say it's simpler then SC4. That's stupid. I like the complexity, it makes you appreciate the work you did on the game. I don't really want any gingerbread houses to be put in my city. Much rather have a swarm of crime and pollution.

Whats sad is that the game is being dummed down for the player who thinks it's to hard, but seriously the players who think its too hard either really really suck at video games, or are impatient, I was 12 years old when I bough SC4 and I managed to build a MEtropolis full of skyscrapers on HARD!!! Guess what it wasnt so complicated once you knew what you were doing, all you need is patience, otherwise it wouldnt be called a S-I-M-U-L-A-T-I-O-N G-A-M-E.

I am personally really upset, I love building cities, I dont follow the mumbo-jumbo politics of the game now, so what interest would i have in a society? NONE, I think I will just stick to SC4, and hopefully many of you would too, so we can still keep this community going, otherwise, in buying this game? HA no thanks, it reminds me of SimTheme Park which I played for a total of 2 minutes, and bought off a friend for $12 because he was bored of it..
