So do I. 3.gif

Although, I know it's pretty hard to create severe "big city" congestion on Sim City.

Unless you set high in amount of sims and cars, install NAM with the radical 24/7 traffic, and have high traffic level on the road.....

Impressive congestions everyone! I have this one strip of avenue that can get really congested, so here it is (in front and behind of the highway) - and no traffic-altering things used

New Pics, New Pics!

This time, I am working on the new type of traffic from the original way. No Traffic Generators, no Traffic Mods. Only jams from scratch!

Don't forget to click on them for full resolution!

I think it's funny how people like to expose their failure as transport planners and find theirselves great for that.

This may nowhere match traffic pics that others have posted here.

This is Megabage - initially created just for the purpose of dumping garbage from all other cities in the region. Later, commerce flourished in the region in leaps and bounds, due to which the idea of it being a dumping ground was abandoned.

I've a few high population cities around one with 6.8 lac sims, and another with 6.4 lac sims, with not many jobs, due to which they flock to Megabage, clogging the connecting roads and highways during peak hours.

Haljackey .. thanks for your comments.. And yeah, I modified them to be under 800X600.

No matter what I do, and how many connections I make - Subway, Highway, Avenues and train to the connecting city, all of them go RED soon.

Its just some insane traffic.. thats all!

This is a picture of the traffic congestion on Reece Avenue going over Interstate 5. This was back when there were only 4000 or so commuters on the this street. Now there are more like 7800 commuters.

This next picture is at the intersections of Reece Avenue and 11th Avenue in Newark.

here are some of my traffic jams.

citytothegimp1.jpg

this isnt really much of a jam , but its very congested.

citytothegimp2.jpg

you might notice that this is a "ramp jam" so much traffic comes in to the north south highway that it jammed(almost standstill).

sendtothegimp3.jpg

this is strange , I put an avenue in the middle of two busy highway segments , and intersected a low traffic avenue to it , jamming the approaching avenue at the intersection(never do that) , it ruins cities.

sendtothegimp4.jpg

this is commuter traffic in the morning commute approaching the intersection(ahh...the cloverleaf , its also jammed)

The one above is also the most congested(you can probably see that)

I did this by putting a highway in between a large residential district and a huge job district.look below for the zoning pattern(and put the zones close together in your cities , thats exactly what I didn't do. )

trafficjamzoning.jpg

the highway has about 25,000 commuters using it , also as a tip , put the jobs and sims close together and a lot of a possible future congestion problem is fixed.

Blake.

After seeing many pictures of traffic collisions, especially in the Show Us Your Rush Hour thread, I thought it would be good to have a traffic collision thread.

Post your traffic accidents here, no matter how large or small, just as long as cars collide 3.gif.

Here's mine from Oakland:

Patricius Maximus:  As you stated, the Show Us Your Rush Hour already contains a ton of collision photos.  That thread is the place to post your car accidents/traffic.  Making another separate thread may seem like a good idea but it gets confusing.  Having one thread reduces the clutter in these forums.

Just look at the show us your highways thread, it was made for the highways themselves, not the interchanges, but was too specific and splits the concept apart.

Again, this is just my opinion.  There is no need for this, but if you want to have a thread for this, go right ahead.

Best,

-Haljackey

I do realize that it is not really needed. I thought it would be good to have a thread just for collisions, instead of rush hours. Guess it's a matter of opinion.

Not as impressive as some earlier on in the thread, but it's not too often my highways get jammed like this.

kenhighwaytd1.jpg

You can also just about see the avenue at the top getting congested.
