no need to conserve space imo.

ima go on batting tonight, if I find the right pics to do so. hard to find good exterior shots of IASW when the main attraction is the interior...

EDIT: maybe I'll go back to DL within the next months as soon as the new TGV trail is opened, it goes from paris to frankfurt, sorta right through my town cuz the first station in germany is here. (well, I live in a suburb, but it's 10 mins to the central station)

and I think 1 1/2 hours to disneyland by highspeed train are really worth it, and it's even cheaper than by car (fuel + road charge)... then I concentrate on exterior shots

Since Paul's doing Spaceship Earth, I think its probably best for me to leave him to that. I'm sorta outclassed there. 3.gif He can REALLY do it justice! Glad to hear that that tacky wand may be coming down. They should recycle the wand's metal to build a Failures in Theme Park Aestetics Museum!

LOL -- Hey Guys! Sorry been a long weekend because of the holiday! Anyway I am not getting any updates from this post for some reason?! Everything looks good. We need to have some attention on Cinderalla's Castle as some point -- The thing about these BATS -- is they are of course the center pieaces of what we are doing. They have to be accurate and look GREAT -- SE is coming along nicely -- Can we get some more photos of what she looks like?? Who wants to start work on the castle? Space mountain shoujld be finished up here in a few days! I will post more photos once I put some texture on it!

Sparky -- Can we get together on the Quary Tool for these?? Give me your thoughts!

Thanks guys for all the help!

    Chris

CWLGAMER- yea, if you want jobs. i can get querys working and add jobs but i think its best we let someone experienced with modding and making custom querys do it.

CWLGamer01, custom queries are sorta becoming my thing now tha I know how to do them! There's a bunch we need to discuss abut these, as you are probably looking for a very secific look and feel to the queries. Got Yahoo IM or AIM?

quaries would be cool if they play some sounds, like the IASW song on my bat, or whatever caracteristic song is played at the certain attraction.

I know it works as the hooters available at the stex playes a song when you open it'S quary it, but I have no idea how to do this

I could help with this great project (really needed to bring together old and new people here on Simtropolis and revitalize the whole community), but on the small scale for a time being. I don't have much time and my computer is busy most of the time with other tasks so exports couldn't last more than 6-8 hours for a moment. So if for instance Paul will model the SpaceShip Earth I could light it up and export... or some other relatively small structures...

I don't quite know how to make actual sounds, but I may know a little about where they go in when looking in Ilive's Reader. I know nothing when it comes to audio stuff on computers; my PC is pretty much devoted to graphics stuff. If someone can make the suitable sounds, I can figure out how to get them in a query!

I am going to have to plow through a lot of required reading, and it's a busy week. But I have gathered enough info to begin Horizons. I also want to start brainstorming for this project's custom query ideas.

My initial idea would have something related to the attraction play upon copening the query window, GMT's idea for "It's a Small World" comes to mind. By the way, is the song played at Euro Disney in French or its original English? For authenticty, GMT's version should have it in Francais if that is the way Euro Disney rides are presented.

Graphicly, the query window itself would  look like  the game's  windows.  In designing my  Portland custom queries, I found people liked the same borders, title textbox, etc . As for what is inside that, we have a lot of choices. Off the top of my head, one of them would be an actual photo of the attraction faded into a nice background. Or maybe a copy of  the attraction's promotional flyer or poster? The other competing idea stems from EPCOT's former use of stylized logos for each of their  Future World pavillions. We'd use that as a background or as a small picture in the window, and they'd be at least as small as a favicon. The last thing will be an agreed upon logo for this project. It'll need to be included in the query for a link to our other projects (not a web link, a stylistic link).

I will try to attempt to keep the custom query's file size small, so it doesn't slow down anyone's PC. We should also figure out what our dependencies will be beforehand, especially the pathway textures. This is for efficiency's sake because if you include custom textures and queries across a project, it's best to just get them out in a dependency pack right off the bat (no pun intended!). Otherwise you clog up people's PC memory with a multitude of redundant files. Also if something basic needs changing across BAT's, we only have to change it in one place.

well, I used to have some professional sound editing tools cuz my dads needed them, hes workin at our local radio station n sometimes volunteers as dj.

But they all got screwed when my pc started fooling around last autumn and i had to format the hdd partition where the os was installed.

maybe i can get them again, gotta talk to my dad.

so the needed editing to the sounds themself can be done. gettin them into the game is something beyond my knowledge

EDIT: as far as I remember it's both english and french... well, that's for sure, but I can't tell for sure if there's another language beside eng and fr

So long as someone can tell me exactly what needs to be done to add sound, don't worryu about adding sound in! I just need a comprehensive tutorial just so I don't miss anything.

Once we get a custom query template established and sounds to put in, all I will need is you BATs; they will need to be exported, moded into whatever purpose(s) (RCI/etc.. using plugin editor and/or Ilive Reader), the object put on your final lot design, a sound picked out in a format that the game can use (more on this later when I find out how exactly to do this), and a prefered picture that I can use as a background. It is pretty simple for me to make custom queries!

By the way, I can also make custom menu icons too. I can do that as I do custom queries if anyone doesn't know how to do that.  39.gif

as for custom query, I have some ideas i got from others like ndex or bsc, they with the background images or so, we can take good pics of the originals and maybe add a little trivia... maybe a little fun thing... like "nuggets found today" on big thunder mountain, or "kids made cry" in the haunted house and stuff like this...

maybe adjusting the paint scheme of the query according to the building... whatever is possible...

ohhh, and we ned a stamp on them. like every bsc bat has a bsc stamp in the query, every ndex has an ndex, so we need a good thing aswell...

    designers called here!

I fiddle around with ps later, maybe I can get something good... oh, and it shouldn't be too big... maybe like avatar size maximum

EDIT: just took a quick look at some ndex queries with the reader.

the ndex stamp has a size of 30 high and 120 wide...

maybe we should use the same size...

an idea I have right now is tho make a pic 60x240 in ps (for its easier to work with) and then scale it down to the 30x120... just an idea

EDIT2: just went berserk throu the web to get some logos together.

I transformed them into 11 ps brushes (ps7 or higher)...

    here's a showcase picture:

    untitled2yj0.jpg

if anyone wants the brush set to fool around with, I can attach them later. But you need to have at least PhotoShop 7 to use them

and I got me 2 disney fonts. I was sure I had disney fonts, but maybe this was before I formatted my hdd...

Okay...  I'll take on the Tower of Terror.  I rode it 5 times two weeks ago, and there wasn't much to do in line except look at the scenery.

I'll also make a properly-scaled Hollywood Tower Hotel, without the crumbling walls and things.  This can be a legitimate CS$$$ building.

By the way, CWLGAMER - you did the college intern program?  I've been considering that, but a few days ago, I randomly ran into a woman in a candy shop with a bunch of horror stories about her experience.  How was your time, and how do you get assigned to your jobs?

they can sue whatever they want

it's for private, noncommercial use, and thismakes it, at least for germany what would be my jurisdiction, legal to use trademarks cuz no copyright violation happens 2.gif

EDIT: apart from that, I don't think they give a f.... about a game's fan community.

they should consider it as a freebie promotion

I agree with that statement, but in this day and age, I wouldn't be so confident about that. Anyways, I think this is a fantastic idea for a project and will compliment the amusement park that was just released a month or so ago. I look forward to watching the development of this project as well as it's eventual release.

    ehm...

    i think it's kinda URGENT!!

we need someone to do the railway around the park.

that means a single-track railway with some elevated pieces

My suggestion is a 1 tile wide with the rail in center.

I can think of puzzle pieces here for it's easier to do. Pathing is not such a big thing since there's a visual pathing editor awailable in which you do kinda the same thing as stacking waypoints...

What pieces I know now are:

    1. straight (1x1 and maybe a bigger one for faster working, like 1x3 or something)
    2. elevated<->ground transition
    3. stretched curves, both elevated and ground
    4. tunnel entrance ( at least for DL paris, the rail runs through a tunnel at the pirates of the carribean and somehwere else)
    5. of course the train stations
I just stumbled over this cuz the train runs through IASW in DL paris and therefore I need either a beta of the railway to adjust my bat to it or a specified plan of how the rail will be so I can go on batting.

Or I just do the way I think it's best and then the one to do the rail adjusts it so It'll work with may IASW.

I'd really do it on my own, but I so son't have the time for this. I'm happy for every minute I can work on IASW at the moment. riggin real life tries to control me, u know...
