Disney-BAT-Team-Banner.jpg

For a long time I have wanted to have a "Disney" style theme park in my city.  I waited to see if some other GREAT BATters would make something but after a few years it looked like that it never happened.  I started messing around with Gmax and thought that I could learn some basics and start working on these myself.  I think Disney Parks lend well to being BATted and would make a great looking landmark in cities.  I would like to invite others that are interested to start a group dedicated to BATting these great landmarks.  I would like a forum similar to the MAPP project with a lot of folks input.  Please if your interested in this project let me know!

Again thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon!

The first BAT I am working toward is SPACE MOUNTAIN!

Heres the first few shots:

Are you from Orlando? That looks like the SunTrust Finnacial Centre in Orlando or perhaps the thing in Atlanta or Jacksonville, so many of those buildings look a like!

I encourage this! Maybe we should make the Central Florida BAT Team, as I am doing Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater BATs and maybe some of Orlando's downtown.

EDIT: I just saw that you're from Char. NC, my mom is from there she's a UNC alumni!

So that building is obviously from downtown Char.!

Hey Guys! Thanks for the interest!

Okay -- So which is better --

    A) -- A lot for each park -- like a Magic Kingdom lot -- which by my calculations would be hmmmm about 41 or 42 X 41 or 42 tiles..... The Magic Kingdom Park is 107 Acres or 4,660,920 Square Feet.

    B) -- A modular type set of lots. IE -- Space, Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain RR, Splash Mountain -- and then you put them together like puzzel peices.

    WHATS everyone thought on this??

Also I need some help with textures and things -- anyone want to work with me on this HUGE PROJECT.

I suggest we model the Magic Kingdom (we can use most of the models for a WDW type park and Disneyland since they are almost all the same) first, then EPCOT and then Disney/MGM Studios...........

I think it should be modular, that way we can have our own versions.

especially since you can't havethat big of a lot anyway.

Ah, Dizzy World. I have some great memories of visiting there. Are you planning on BATing the theme hotels around the lagoon (The Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Tahitian Resort)? It'd be really really cool to see the Swan and Dolphin hotel complex.

Not to get even dorkier about this, but will you also be making BATs of the old, now gone attractions? I really loved Horizons and GM's auto exhibit at EPCOT. And please, please, please, if you do BAT Spaceship Earth, do NOT include that stupid neon wand that mucks up the aestethic of EPCOT.

I think making a whole Magic Kingdom or EPCOT lot would be waaaay too big of lots. Breaking everything up into puzzle peices seems the best way to do all this. I can't wait to see more!

Ohh lord. I can't believe I mistook that. Anyway, this would really be a dream come true. Everybody's been waning a themed park like Disney World. If this happens...I mean who won't be happy.

Walt-Disney World seems like a fun BAT challenge and I'm excited to see the formation of a team.

I vote the set be modular as the buildings are going to be pretty large. It would be nice to have the Cinderella Castle (I think that's what it's called) in SimCity also.

You're off to a good start with Space Mountain and I'm looking forward to more progress.

BTW, I saw a member of Google's 3D Warehouse making Disney structures for Google Earth. Maybe you can contact them and get them to help with your project.

If you're doing Tomorrowland, please don't forget the WEDway PeopleMover (aka Tomorrowland Transit Authority). It's still at Disney World, but Disneyland's is sadly gone although the track is still there. I loved riding on that as a kid. 4.gif

We plan to include EVRYTHING from Walt Disney World Theme Parks.

We just need some volunteers to help get things going as I am so new with BATing I am still trying to figure out how to slice a angled top into Space Mountain and add the lines on the sides. Not to mention learning about textures etc. The list goes on and on!

I can whip up models pretty fast, providing I have the time with college and all. Texturing and lighting are the things that take most of my BATing time. I'd love to help out. I need a little tiny break from my other backlogged projects! 3.gif

Once I get a couple of pending BATs pushed out, would you like to see the Swan and Dolphin Resort? It's about time I get another Michael Graves building under my belt.

Edit: BTW, I may need a ton of pics of the complex to really do it justice. Anyone going to Disney World soon???

    Hey Sparky:

GREAT! I would be excited to have you work on the Swan and Dolphin. What GREAT works of building art - RIGHT! Anyway -- give me a few days to get some photos together for you. two of my goals with this project are always going to be -- 1) DETAILS -- as much detail as we can cram into the BATS and LOTS! and 2) SCALE -- the scale must be accurate on everything -- I am not as worried with hieght as I am area! If an attraction or resort is 10 X 10 or 15 X 5 etc. -- it needs to be that. No cutting corners on those two items!

Thanks again look forward to working with you!

    Cool!

My favorite rides when I went last time was the runaway mine train thing and the Buzz Lightyear ride where you shoot at aliens

I was thinking, when you do this perhaps instead of setting your heart on recreating the entire park you could focus on making the classics and other new rides from your imagination that have a disney twist

anyways, the park is going to need a castle......

Cool, will await pix and email ya. I just need to know how big of a lot the just the building(s) should occupy. Then I can add the non-building lot junk around it after I get the buildings scaled properly. I must warn y'all right off the bat (no pun intended) that I remain committed to the slew of other BAT projects I have backlogged and to my studies. So this may take a little while, even if I do everything simultaneously!

Hey guys this sound like a great project Disney world I have waiting a long time for this to be done. I thing we need to make it modular like the mapp project because of size of file this project would take. You can count me in on the project I m not great at batting but I can do design work , testing, and lot design. I have tons of pictures of Disney world and can maybe get some line drawings for some Disney attractions. Just PM and I can work with you to get this info to who ever needs it.
