For both. Disney pathways are mostly a pinkesh asphalt. Check out Google Maps to get a taste of what they should look like. I have the model ready when ever you are!

okay so for the golf ball part i say just keep it the in BAT white, unless it becomes blinding. in that case try light gray.

the things that hold it up i think they look thicker, so id probably make it a bit thicker

but when you do texture that i think the maxis garage texture(comes with BAT) or this would work

    misc6yj3.png

How Are you going to do the epcot sign? I can do the night lights with all the colors and the light up sign if you want.

I suggest you put some more detail into the back end of it if there is supposed to be somthing there. Im working on the pathway texture ill get back to ya on that one tommarow.

5.gif AS several folks had requested we are NOT adding the "Epcot" arm and sign to Spaceship Earth! 10.gif

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

I am kinda of uncertain how to add textures to the models -- help would be GREAT!

Also I am adding windows and roof stuff to the top tonight.

If you decide to put the wand/sign in, could you please make a version of Spaceship Earth w/o the sign? There's a bunch of us that have fond memories of the golfball without that tacky thing.

On your model, it looks good, but it seems like it isn't spikey enough. I'll have to do a little experiment and see if I cant lift the center of the individual triangle polys up. That'd go a really long way toward realism.

Also, there are some half-circle buildings that surround SE. I think one of them was the AT&T exhibit. At least it was when I went there in 89. Are you planning on adding those into SE or make them seperate lots?

Texturing this ought to be a challenge, esp if you want a gradient to it. If you want me to take a look at that, I have been known to help with these issues. 4.gif

OK going to email ya to get the Dolphin and Swan stuff...

++++  I agree Sparky-- I think we should release SE as it was built in 1982.  No arm/sign/2000/Epcot thingy for us.

++++  I would love to get the raised effect -- I will send you the file and let you look at it.

++++ I think they may be better off as seprate BATS -- the reason is those items will need to be transit enabled for Monorail access.

++++ I agree -- I dont even know where to start with textures.

    ++++  Sending them shortly.

Go ahead and sent it forth. I will likely have a ton of time this weekend to take a look at it. If all else fails, I may be able to attach individual spikes onto the original model. That'll be tedious as heck, but why not go the extra mile!

LOL -- GUYS!!!! I am repeating myself here I know -- Trust me I understand the texture is NOT correct! I do not know how to texture or create textures -- hopefully Sparky will help with that portion! Anyway thanks for all the input though -- it means a lot to see how many peeps are interested in this project!

Something i failed to mention before is I worked at Walt Disney World way back in 1996 and 1997. I did two internships -- one was in Reservation Sales for the Walt Disney Travel Company (we where dubbed the CIA of WDW for all the knowledge we had to have) and the last was an internship in Cast Records and Benefit (Human Resources). I am very knowledgable about the parks and the company as whole during the 1990's (the "hayday" of Disney).

Again the goal is to recreate ACCURATE scale models of the entire resort including hotels. All input is really helpful so keep it coming. I just wanted to stress I do not know much about textures YET! -- I am just now feeling compfortable with the 3d modelling. I started that when I posted the first message and I think have come a long way in four days!

THANKS FOR THE ENTHUIASM EACH OF YOU IS SHOWING. We do have an interest in this project which is wonderful and "magical" (lol).

    good texture for the epcot...

oh... lets see... as I'm part of this, maybe I should post some pics of my work...

the it's a small world as seen in disneyland paris (for I live like a few hours from it and it's as far as I can tell from pics, the most beautifull disneyland because they tried to fit it into the common paris style)

    wipwb6.jpg

this is what I got so far.

the center piece is the main entrance/boarding area, the right thing is part of the queue to make it longer when needed and the left thing is the exit area with a sideshow showing a town out of famous sights (as seen on the facade) at night.

and this is one reference shot of the real building.

    untitled1yi4.jpg

maybe the sideshow needs a little down-scaling, I'm not quite sure, I'll see when it's finished.

I think I may just volunteer to make Epcot's now-gone Horizons building too. I loved that ride through the future. Maybe one of the international pavillions if I feel up to it. Can't ya tell I loved Epcot the most?

Still these are dependent upon my studies-college comes first! It's going to be nice to have a break from my Portland work. Thanks CWLGamer!

Where is the actual attraction.  Is it the set of buildings to the north of the Q Line??  I have never been to DL Paris.  The one at WDW has the Q inside the building -- the one in Calfornia has it outside kinda of like that.

its interesting see the different versions --

    Here is WDW:

    ISW---WDW.jpg

Its a much more compact version not spread out like Pairs or CA.

    heres CA - Disneyland:

That Horizons building is GREAT!  I remember the first time I went to Epcot they had closed it but then when I went back for my internships it was opened since World of Motion was closed and being rebuilt as test track.  Though I heard Mission to Space was even better then Horizons -- Horizons was so inovative even for the late '90's.  Its a great buidling to model!  And the color was so interesting.

yea, it's north of it. you see the boarding area, and then there're 2 "tunnels", a little like an s-curve, they are the access ways for the boats to the big stage building in the background, pretty much the same size as in DL california, only that the facade and boarding area is right in front if it instead of an offset one

Hey guy's we are off to a great start but we need a plan on which building we are doing. Here is a list of the buildings we should focus on fist

Spaceship Earth and innovations the circular buildings behind spaceship earth

    Soaring

    Test track

    Mission space

    Monorail station

    Imagination

    The land

We should do the international pavilion as a separate release since they will take a lot more work.

Hey check above -- I listed what everyone is currently working on. I do agree that World Showcase will need to separate lots. I will get an arial view worked up today and broken into tiles so we can judge what size lots we are talking here.

    Texturing for dummies

okay this tutorial basically will just go into getting the texture to appear on the BAT. I wont teach you how to make it look good, tweak it, or adjust it in any way. for info on that, check out the BAT Essentials or BAT Help - Texturing Issues . so lets get this party started.

so heres my current project for NEBB, barely started so no making fun of it. The image quality is pretty crappy but you can read the writing. so hit the circled button, and it will bring up all your textures.
    gfxmgravel1fy0.jpg
    untitledes3.jpg
hit file system and all your textures should come up
    untitled3ka2.jpg
okay when you put your texture on, it may look strange. in fact the texture rarely looks the way you want it. this is where you get into UVW maps, which are a whole nother subject, so check out the 2 threads above to get some info on them.

LOL -- Okay so here is the big question. I can just use a photo from lets say the internet to do the texture?  Of course the Area would need to match for something like above right??

    do so!

@ cwlgamer: hm... depends on the angle of the pic. if it's a straight forward photo, it might work, if it's a little angled in any way, it needs some touching with pshop, if it's too angled, throw it away...
