Sounds like you may have to install using an account with administrator rights. :???:

Then again, I also found this.

Having taken a three-second look at that link, that just leaves the administrator rights. This is going to take a long time to figure out...

Why? There are instructions on how to fix it yourself.

Right, and I remember those instructions from the previous two times I tried fixing it manually. :(

I don't know if this has been asked before, but is there any way to set up the BAT on 64-bit Windows 8 without using the installer. For some reason the origin version of the game does not register with the installer, so it won't run. I've tried copying the data I had from an older system, but was unable to edit the config file.

Nevermind, I got it fixed.

I mentioned this in my BAT thread, but I made a door frame using the mesh settings, which makes the emergency exits look better. Unfortunately, they don't show up in the preview render, which is a shame...I want to make a door frame, and I thought that was how to do it!

If you have the BAT installed use the BAT shortcut on your desktop, doubleclick

it to open gmax with the BAT gamepack then the game pak(BAT)will be open.

(If needed go to where gmax is installed then in the gamepacks folder is the BAT

Folder then in there is The BAT launcher doubleclick that to open it).

If gmax won't start let me know the error message your getting if your getting one,

likewise if installing the BAT gives an error please post it

The Bat is just a Gamepak for Gmax so it won't load with the game,it does

include the plugin manager to create your desc files for your created BAT's.

If you need help making your first building, prop, ect go to the ominbus section here

or search the forums. There are plently of tutorials available.

Edit:had to change the location of the BAT launcher, sorry about that.

mine has an error message saying that "simcity 4 is not installed" when it is

If LODs are exported in low quality (in gmax), does the overall render (in 3dsmax with bat4max) will be low quality too? Does it impact overall render time?

Good evening, Jason. I've been wanting to post here about an issue that I keep running into whenever I export. Z4 & Z5 renders turn out fine in-game; however, Z1 through Z3 renders all display black/rgb boxes in my model. I realize that this issue is apparent in the 2012 3ds Max renders but I'm using the 2011 edition (are there hotfixes for this edition?). I believe I haven't had this problem before while BATing but it's been creeping up lately. Could it have to do with where my Max is installed (C:\Program Files\)? I've given it full ownership and BAT4Max has been working/installed correctly. Any suggestions on how to rectify the problem?

    Hello  :)

You're experiencing a common problem.  Check the BAT Mega FAQ (pinned to the top of this forum) (there are actually two BAT Mega FAQ threads but one is newer) and I posted a few different solutions there iirc.

Schweet, thanks Jason. The ID conflict fix solved the problem. For others having the same issue, go and replace that ModelName.ms file in your BAT gamepack/scripts. The link is available in the BAT Mega FAQ. And then, from there Building Architect Tool/Texture Problem Fix. Well, thanks again and have a good one, Jason.

Okay, I'm having a *little* problem with 3dsMax (and it might be b/c I don't have 3dsMax design cause thhe uninstallation went horribly wrong and re-installation is virtually impossible until I find all the files that seem to make the installer think its still installed) and BAT4Max with it because I've tried out preview renders before I actually export the model. Everytime I add day and darknite renders, the BAT seems to have an added and undesired cyan hue which after tampering a little with the color channels, still won't go away.

    4Ma1L.jpg

Any solutions, or is it because I'm not using 3dsMax Design? :(

EDIT: I found out that the red channel wasn't displaying on the BAT, but was on the actual background for some strange and unknown reason. Unfortunately, I still don't exactly know my way around 3dsMax and I can only assume it's that BAT4Max still isn't as compatible or as smooth running with the 2013 edition as opposed to the older and more familiar '11 and '12 versions :( Anyone have a way to get the red channel to work?

Unfortunately I don't know what could be causing the problem.

The problem isn't because it's not 3ds max design though, they're actually the same thing except design has different pre-sets (and i think even with normal 3ds max you can still change the presets to the design version).  Design also comes with a tool for doing lighting simulations (not rendering, but natural daylighting, for like low energy/green design).

Have you applied the patch and service pack for your version of Max?

    Have a look here: http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?id=2334435&linkID=9241178&siteID=123112#section2

It solves a lot of problems, especially for the gamma correction that is buggy.

@Jasoncw - Glad to know that its not because I used the standard 3dsMax :)

@dDelecto - I'm trying that out now but I'm not sure which update to install so I'm installing all of them D:

So far, installing Product updates 1, 2 and 3 for 3dsMax 2013 hasn't done anything.

If this helps at all for anyone to be able to figure it out, it'd be much appreciated if you could suggest anything! I've been looking through some of the render options and anything that has to do with the color channels, but no avail of any solution. :( It appears that when I use BAT4Max, adding sky or adding lighting to the (day and maxis/darknite) The entire thing goes black in the red channel. Like I said before, the only channels that are active are green and blue, despite the red channel being toggled. But when I looked at the image's configurations, it really is the case that the red channels is not active.

Thanks for the offer of help, but it seems to be with every model I've created. I import all of them from Google sketchup. I've tried resolving the issue by just simply using the 2012 edition though :P

But now I've got another problem (boy, am I unlucky with 3dsMax :( )

Now that I've got the 2012 edition, I reinstalled BAT4Max 5 for it and after installing BAT4Max, all the models and objects began shaking and jumping around (typically jump around if it was imported from Google Sketchup). In addition to that, the model or objects I created woul either disappear completely or have bits of it missing from the display. I'm on edge right now cause of this because it's taken me a bit of a while to actually get it working, months now (most of it waiting time after frustration) :P

In this picture right here, the model would be shaking and as you can see, a part is missing.

    4NlBo.png

Once I add Day lighting on the BAT, suddenly the entire thing turns black rather than appearing normally but with the day lighting.

    4NlOp.png

Then I add the sky, and this happens:

    4NlU7.png

When I try to get a preview of the BAT...this error comes up...

    4NlVl.png

Afterwards, I can't select the preview button and make a preview render. 2012's gotten pretty unpredictable. Plus I set the gamma/LUT settings to the recommended from the BAT4Max 5 information page if anyone/your wondering. Other than that, I haven't really tampered with anything else to do with BAT4Max. Just installed it and suddenly, the entire program's gone haywire; shaking/jumping models, black sets in after adding sky and lighting (let there be light) and preview render issues.

The difference between my experience with 2013 and 2012 is that 2013 never got any of these problems. 2013 only had a cyan render hue. This time I'm dealing with some crazy other errors and glitches. And I'm not sure I can say I'm to peachy about the situation and experience I'm having with 3dsMax :P

I'm honestly dazed, confused and really downed about these problems I keep encountering with 3dsMax :|

Huston, i had the exact same problem once, i think i fixed it by just simply playing around with the model and/or textures, and restarting max. Not really a fix lol. However, what i do know, is that as long as you had previously textured the model, even if the model is either pitch black like yours or a bright white (after you add sky and day (and after automatic LODS)), when you click preview render, or when you export the model, it renders properly, which is really weird.

    Your grid is 100mx100m. Huge....

If there is a bat4max error, you have to restart 3dsmax.
