ODAIBA:

A man made island made on Tokyo Bay. Showcases as a new kind of modern playground with ferris wheel and lots of malls!

Hey...I went to about 90% of all those places...the only bad thing about East Asian countries (I'd have to admit) is that:

Once you have seen one pagoda (or anything else), you have seen all the pagodas...

...luckily this doesn't apply to everything...

...I love Kyoto...so imperial...

...hey...did anyone go to the World Expo in Japan? I did...so many people...Japanese people love fads, conventions, and such!!!

I went to Odaiba for 2 days ago xD it was so awsome there ;D I love Tokyo! So I will move here in a few years! I don't mind crowds and stuff 9.gif So Tokyo is the place for me! I also feel safe here, and the earthquakes... well there will be a big one soon, but I don't think so much about it xD. Typhon and other stuff.. well diasters happen everywhere so, it is natural and we have to get used to them.

The space is not a big problem for me, even if I am from Sweden and our houses are huge compared to those in Japan. I think I'm strange xD

Anyway, Tokyo is great to live in! I'm going to make a CJ about Tokyo soon =)

I love how Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka look. Personally I wouldn't wanna live there though... being 6'2" I would feel a little out of place after a while and, in my humble opinion, Japanese food is the worst in the world lol. Nothing against the Japanese.

I've been to Tokyo, Osaka and Hiroshima a few years ago. I loved it in Japan, I've always wanted to go back to Japan ever since then. I never realized Tokyo was so big though. On the bullet train it seemed like 30-45 minutes passed traveling from the outskirts to downtown Tokyo.

You're joking right? Japanese food has got to be the best in the world, truly unique flavours and so much variety... tongatsu, yakitori, sashimi, tempura, udon, soba, ...... Love Japanese food!

Love the pics in the top post. I can see the catbus from Totoro in the shop where I bought some Studio Ghibli stuff.

EDIT - Those Kyoto pics are also great. The last pic of the Nijojo moat bridge at night is amazing. I'm in the process of uploading my Kyoto pics. Go to http://davidedwardsphotos.com/gallery and select Places -> Japan. Should have the rest of the pics up in a few days (then I've got to find my Nikko and Hakone pics!).

I am actually leaving the States to live in Osaka in like three days. I was in Tokyo last summer, and I look forward to experiencing a new part of Japan. I aim to gorge myself in Osaka's restaurants and drink much Sapporo.

Nice pics of Odaiba, by the way.

Matane!

yes...great pics...I think Japan shouldn't build claim the world's tallest structure...I hate it when a building sticks out of nowhere...but others may disagree...

...Japanese food also gives you lots of omega-3...if you eat the right types of food...that is...

...hey...can this topic about Tokyo spread to its suburbs, too?  Like Chiba or the Tama areas?  Or how about Okutama or Hinohara?

DON'T FORGET TOKYO'S ISLANDS!!! (even though they are a thousand kilometers from Honshu)

Looks like there's someone else who knows nihongo3.gif

Isn't Chiba further away than Yokohama or at least Shinagawa?

BTW, I was born in Funabashi-shi, a city 30 minutes away from Tokyo (by commuter train) in Chiba (prefecture, adjacent to Tokyo Metropolitan District).

I'll be going to Tokyo in a week or so, will bring back lots of pics.

well...northsider1983, just buy a ticket to Tokyo...

...it's weird..when I go to Osaka (Japan's third largest city by population)...seems very mellow compared to Tokyo...even Yokohama can't really compare to Tokyo...

...funny thing is...Tokyo isn't a "city" under Japanese law...search it up...

I really, really want to go to Japan someday-it seems like a really neat place and the food is amazing.

The Tokyo skyline seems pretty nice to me-though, as a New Yorker, it is obviously not my favorite. Did anyone see the movie Babel? There was a great shot at the very end of the movie where they zoom out from the characters standing on the balcony to show all these buildings in Tokyo-simply beautiful. I think that was in the Shinjuku neighborhood.

I think he means in Japan. That tower was never the tallest, nor was it near being the tallest. Ever.
