Well, Jason has been working on Penobscot for... god knows how long. I think this is one of the more recent renders (Lol, June 09 really wasn't that recent).

peno26.jpg

As for David Scott, its been planned in the past, but still nothing on it. Here is the page were it's problems were discussed.

I don't know if anyone is working on Fisher, or have substantial plans to. Its another one of those MCS things, its so large, detailed, and so much of a land mark that I know I would be in over my head. I would LOVE to do it, its just that I don't think I could do it justice.

Penobscot looks really good, and, Jason, please continue working on it. You did a majority of building.

As I was reading on David Scott, I really got excited, but than I saw the date of the posts. Bugger!

I don't wanna kiss a** here but you guys really really make great, detailed and high quality BATs, and it's so strange when you say "too detailed for us". I think you should start up a real team work on it SimHoTToDDy: One of you could do the basics (like Penobscot), other should do details, and third should dedicate himself on doing texture, lotting and modding. Am I being too pushy 9.gif ? sorry again, wasn't my intention, I just got hooked up on your BATs 9.gif

@ SimWTCNYC: I'm pretty sure each of us has thought about making MCS at one time or another.

@ Vlasky: There are some great buildings in Detroit! As a matter of fact, JasonCW has been working on the Penobscot Building for a couple of years now, and we both have considered making the David Stott.

I would say rest assured that all of those buildings you mentioned will probably be made by us at some point.

The Penobscot looks very cool... I live in Michigan and I'm glad people are finally giving our beautiful buildings justice.

Penobscot building looks impressive. You are starting a huge project. I am curious to see the evolution of your project.

lol, yeah, that's the Penobscot Building all right.  I think that model is older than most active members nowadays.  I've always meant to finish it, but I always put it off in favor of smaller and easier to finish projects.  Maybe 2010 will be the year I finally finish it.

In other news I exported One Woodward Avenue's day version.

I have been thinking that once my semster is over I might devote some time to making BATs now that I have become comfortable with 3ds max. The BSP has always contributed some of the highest quality projects to the STEX that I greatly admire, and I love recreating older buildings from the Northwest, so I may try my hand at BATing something, preferably with this team's tutelage.

Jason, needless to say that it looks fabulous. 4.gif (And please, please get around to finishing Penobscot! It would be the cream and cherry on top of any Chi/NY-themed city!)

I have missed many things here.

One Woodward Avenue building is perfect. It's nice to see lotted in the game. I'm looking forward the night render.

Aluminum Architectural metals Company is amazing. It will look great in my city.

and what to say about Penobscot bldg. It looks already breathtaking.

Great work guys, I don't know Detroit very well but I see that it has a great architecture. I have my eye on some buildings from there, I'll take them up soon if nobody does it before me 2.gif

"Is it not cruel to let our city die by degrees, stripped of all her proud monuments, until there will be nothing left of all her history and beauty to inspire our children? If they are not inspired by the past of our city, where will they find the strength to fight for her future? Americans care about their past, but for short term gain they ignore it and tear down everything that matters. Maybe… this is the time to take a stand, to reverse the tide, so that we won't all end up in a uniform world of steel and glass boxes." - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Well I have been working on this for quite some time trying my best not to show everyone, but I think I have finally done enough to reveal the "super secret project" (as I have called it in chat). I made this as a thank you to Jasoncw and Nofunk for helping me with each of my projects, both lotting and modding (in addition to the advice in the modeling process). I owe a lot to the folks who came into my BAT thread and supported me, and I don't know what I would be doing if they had not asked my to join the BSP.

So, without further ado, I give you Fisher Body 21!

    (click)

    fisherbody21red.png

    fisherbody21b.png

I decided to do a little bit of a hybrid of this building's many stages. Between what was there when it was built, in the 30's (my earliest reference), to today I had to pick and choose elements to include. The roof is definitely a reflection of today, while the paint scheme (or lack there of) is what it would have been when it was built, and probably up until GM stopped using it. The only concern about these inclusions/exclusions is the back. There were numerous additions tacked on to the back of the building, some of which have been around since the 50s or so. There are also large square pipes covering numerous back windows that I decided not to include, this is perhaps the only part of the building I don't love. It was difficult to decide on sch things because, despite the huge amount of photography of it, I can count the number of useful old pictures on one hand.

That being said, for those of you who are familiar with the building, I would like to hear your take on it.

    -Todd

    Holy cow!! 25.gif

Now I'm not familar with this building at all, but I'm in love with that BAT! Beautiful, beautiful work all over. So many details to discover, so much to look at... your BAT skills have really reached a tremendous level, and all that progress happened so quickly, too. The entire BSP team can be proud of you. 19.gif

Speaking of the entire team, it's amazing to see the consistent look of all your BATs. You cannot look at a BSP BAT and say "Ah, the textures here aren't that perfect yet, that must be one made by XYZ.", or "The colours are a bit oversaturated here, that's typical of ABC". I can't imagine how barren and dull my Chicago and New York tilesets would look without all that great stuff you guys keep producing.

I love the BSP buildings, as I build old-skool American cities - they work wonderfully.

If I can offer one bit of constructive critisism - the night lighting does not work at all with night mods like Gizmo's and Simfox's Darknight mod. I haven't seen any of the more recent BSP releases pop up yet (I garden my cities, no ploppables), so I don't know if you guys have changed the nightlighting or not.

But ever consider making versions that can coexist with the more realistic night mods? I absolutely love your buildings, but they stick out like sore thumbs in night pics - don't know if that is difficult to do or not, as I'm not a batter

    keep up the good work!

    Oh Todd!

It's looking great so far.  Right now my comments would be that the white looks a bit darker than it should be, and that the roof texture could probably be flatter looking.

Can you post some of the reference material you're using?  I think most of us are only really familiar with how the building is now.

    But yeah it's looking great!

slystone2:  I plan on doing One Woodward Avenue (and my future BATs in general) in both normal TruNite, and SimFox's darknight.  1.gif

slystone2: It really isn't that hard, its only a matter of re-exporting. Once I finish something though, I tend to move on and forget about it. I'll see what I can do about making some dark nite versions, I know Simfox is bugging me about the Pripiat blocks 3.gif

Jason: I'm kinda happy with the "white" since I'm not going for painted (like it is now), but rather bare concrete. I'll take another look at it and maybe make a few tweaks. I get what you mean about the roof though, there are nice spots and rough spots and apparently I need to smooth them out some more.

As far as references go, there really isn't a whole lot, like I said. This adds a lot more guess work then I'd like there to be. WSU archive was the only thing that had any useful images. This is literally everything I have that isn't recent.
