The Worst City Journal EVER

A couple weeks ago, I decided to make a city journal.  I dutifully downloaded all the PEG lots, all the network mods, all the seawalls.  I set out to make a city that would blow everyone away.  It would be gorgeous.

 

Then I got bored.

 

A couple days later, I was looking through this very forum, jealously poring over every intersection, when it came to me.  I would not make the most beautiful city ever, I would make the worst city ever.  Thus, Worst was born.

 

Now here it is, the worst city in history:

Yes, that is Downtown Worst.  It contains every single commercial highrise in my Landmarks menu.  There are over 212,000 job openings in that tiny area.  Oh, and in case you're wondering, those are streets.  Without any capacity mods.  Serving all 212,000 jobs.  This is going to be fun.  But let's move on.

The heart of Worst is its shopping district, located on Consumer Fraud Way.  Pick a large chain designed to squelch all economic competition, Worst's got it.  Every fattening restaurant franchise from McDonalds to Olive Garden has a representative.  There's even a Hooters!

 

Wait, you may be saying.  Consumer Fraud Way?  That's only one street name.  What about all the other ones?  Well, that's a fair question.  You see, Consumer Fraud Way twists and turns quite a bit.  In fact, there is only one intersection on it.  So basically, it creates more of a community atmosphere, since everyone in the community will be on it.

This is the oh-so-lovely Hotel Road.  There are eleven hotels featured here.  Hey, competition's good, right?  Okay, so it seemed like a good idea at the time.

This is the Industrial District!  Worst is very business friendly.  After all, it's the only city in the region that charges nothing for dirty industry!  Oh, but there is one catch.  There's only one street.  And it's the same as Consumer Fraud Way.  So, you have to go aaall the way over there to get your good out.  Hey, but at least it's cheap!

Now, I'm not completely cruel.  I'll give 'em a hospital.  I'm doing this mostly because I don't want the game to end prematurely due to an epidemic.

Before I start the simulator, I'll pause and show you downtown lit up at night.  It's actually really cool looking.  I feel almost sorry...no, false alarm.  LET'S GOOO!

• Disaster strikes.  Will I actually help my sims?
• Garbage galore begins to pile up.  Will the hospital prevent epidemic?
• Traffic begins to back up.  Will road rage drive the sims crazy?
• Moving vans come to town.  Will anyone actually be stupid enough to move here?

Wow bad city! I love it! Now THATS an effective mass transit system. Perhaps it needs landfill in the center of the commercial district.

Edit: I remember playing a game called LEGOtrain or something like that. Basically you would build big Lego cities with the Lego trains as the transit system.

 

So, why not build the most confusing and destructive railway ever! Then, they can at least move to nowhere...
