My next one is going to be a Spring Training-type baseball field. That's all I know right now.

Spring training fields usually have low capacities, but wide grounds, and lots of grass and palm trees, as they're all in Florida or Arizona.

I think I'm gonna start today, but I'm not sure if I should make in the 1980s Florida style, or the 2000s Arizona style. Could also make both, I'm using the same texture with a few updates.

I'm doing a few things different this time. For one, I'm incorporating the bullpens straight into the texture of the field, rather than tacking them on later. Seems easier, and it also let me see how they were mis-sized a little bit. Also, I'm making the walls at the same time I'm making the stands. I used to do this afterwards, and the walls would look very angled and had gaps either between them or between the seats.

The master plan is to have a main seating bowl with an open-air concourse, a few press boxes directly behind home, a sort of second deck down the first base line, a berm and deck in right field, angled seating leading to bullpens in left field, and a long porch in center field.

Here's a gem. On Orange Hill Stadium, I kind of gave up effort-wise because the loading times for every move and action were incredibly sluggish. Figured out why.

At some point while I was cloning, each prop ended up having four duplicates underneath of it. So I had four times as many props and models as I needed to. :\

I'm about 90% done with the stadium. I keep doing test exports to get a screenshot, but printscreen never works when I need it to. I'll just hold off until I'm done, which could be late tonight.

Okay, first piccy. I'm done the export, I just need to create the lot and all of the needs and properties.

Guess what; it's bright. It's intentionally, purposefully bright. The stadium is supposed to be in Florida, so I gave it a Floridian roof. This is the way they really look, there are stadiums with designs similar to these through FL, AZ, CA, etc. Since I took this is LE, you can't see the rest of the field. Nothing fancy, really.

    Whoa, thanks.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the lot. A big grassy space sounds nice, but space in SC4 is precious, especially if I include parking. All I know for sure are palms, palms, palms. 9.gif

I'm not sure what the next project will be. Possiblities:

    Big Tennis center

    Astroturf baseball field

    Hurling/Gaelic Football field

    American High school football field

If I can shrink down the size of the field in a good way, I'm considering making a pack of baseball fields, but just the fields, for park or school purposes. Maybe one regular, one softball, one astroturf, and one skinned. Just with bleacher racks and dugouts, no big structures. That'd be pretty easy.

    Here's what it's gonna be -

The sample pack, like I said, and then after that, a Japanese-style baseball stadium. There's close to a dozen fields in Japan that have the almost identical same look. Should be easy.

Japanese baseball stadium? Sounds like a really cool idea. I cannot wait it.

For each of the new startup fields, I'm going to have a 4x4 lot of JUST the diamond and fences, and then a 5x5 lot that includes trees, bleachers, benches, trash cans, etc.

I tested the basic and skin infield models in SC4, and the infields were too bright. I'm gonna dull them down to a little more of a brownish hue.

Just stopped to say how I admire your work, I have almost every stadium you have made, thanks for offering an alternative for Maxis in-game stadiums.

Keep up the great work, 2.gif

Hey scba, I just wanted to stop by to tell you how much I like your recent uploads. 4.gif It's amazing to see how much you improved over the time.

Today I downloaded your baseball fields and put them next to their Maxis brother. I gotta say, you put Maxis to shame with your creations!

However, I have one question: Would it be possible to make a version where the green base is omitted, i.e. only the pitch inside the fences is the BAT, and the rest of the lot is left empty (to be filled with LE textures)? This would make it a lot easier to blend your creations into existing parks, for example, or to make new lots with some people standing around near the field or whatever... what do you say? 4.gif

T-Wrecks, I'd love that, but I don't know how, unless I had a square field. Is it easy?

I'm awful at making textures for football fields, so I try and stay away from them.

Anyway, You could do MaryVale baseball park in a neighborhood of Phoenix, AZ. It is the spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers (cactus league)4.gif

My next upload isn't gonna be an STEX stadium. I'm making a huge wind power plant that might take a few days to perfect, but when it comes out, it should be special all in its own.

I'm still planning on making the Japanese-style field next, but I've been taking a bit of a hiatus. Might start it later this week.

The Sky Tree Power Plant is kind of a mixed success. Lots of great reviews, but not too many downloads.

Well, it's something very special and particular, just not everybody's cup of tea, I guess.

No one's work is universally accepted, even Frank Lloyd Wright! You do great work, don't sweat the download numbers.

All right. After a pretty big break, I'm coming back, but I don't think I'm going to make Nippon Ballpark quite yet. I want to aim for a AAA American park, hopefully the biggest baseball stadium of mine yet.
