    is the green supposed to be grass? Like the roof is completely covered in gardens?

    The model looks fantastic.

    I had a problem with my computer

    the model is gone =(

    I made a copy before but now I have to do the whole roof again

    @josefmayor: thanks =) I hope the new one won't be that different from the old onw Oo

    @tag_one: thanks 9.gif the gras texture is taken from google earth. I searched on google before but didn't find the right one.

    @gecko& hamster: thanks for the post 4.gif and yes the whole roof is covered in gardens. I'll put a few small trees / bushes on the roof, too, to make it look a bit less boring. I don't believe that you can enter the roof in the reality though.

    I have a question to you all.. should I take over the letters or should I let them away ?!

    that's what I've got that far.

    still gotta to the trees and the roof stuff.

    bcv1.jpg

    bcv2.jpg

    hmm.jpg

    if anybody of you knows goodlooking trees / bushes with less than 10.000 polygons I'd be very happy to know =)

    I found some really excellent trees but they got more than 20 / 27 thausand polygons and this number is too high for my machine.

    the current model has got about 52 thausand poylgons.

    (please ignore the missing texture. gmax sometimes fools around when I wanna make a preview...)

    It looks great. I too would like to know where to get some tree props though. I can't seem to find any on the STEX...

    Wow! It's been a while since I last checked in on this. It is looking fantastic, gerAndi!

    SimFox will probably chime in and disagree (lol) but I think you might consider adding a slight gradient to the wall texture, so it gets slightly darker as your eye runs down the walls from the roof. That would add some visual interest to the walls.

    Also, if you can't find any trees with lower poly count, ACEfanatic taught me a really great trick. In gmax, convert each tree to an editable mesh, select all of the polygons, and then click 'optimise'. I had a fire escape on my latest release that was over 90,000 polys (!!) and optimizing it knocked off about 20,000!

    Yes I will.

    Long gradients look unnatural against the ground in game.

    To better define shape you may add rather short on right at the bottom of the building.

    The level of modeling skills suggest some experience! May be you could give a go to UWV unwrap modifier??

    Another hint to conserve memory with heavy but rather uniform models like foliage – is to instance them and not to copy.

    The building looks great, just like the original!

    The green texture does however does not follow the quality standard of the rest of your building, it looks like a poor old low-quality UVW stretched JPEG than actual greenery. I checked Google Earth and it seems that it is really no lawn on the roof, just bushes and brown soil (BTW they have updated the Berlin photos on Google Earth recently and they are REALLY good now). I guess it would be easy to model those bushes, just boxes, cones and a good texture would make them.

    @nofunk: thx =)

    I checked what you said about the textures but the problem is that I'm not really a texture-maker. I don't have the programs for that and google isn't really a help. so I tried to find a possibility to make a texture out of the real-life pics I've taken but.. they were pink somehow.. weakly pink but pink.

    ahh and the trick

    I've done so but not really with big succes. from 27'000 just down to 25'000 but anyway thx for telling me =) I'll keep this in mind

    @simfox: hmm odd. there usually was a darker textured line.. I think they got lost as the model fooled around. thx for saying. I'll add them again.

    "May be you could give a go to UWV unwrap modifier??" what excactly do you mean ? I mean I don't understand the words at all :S bloody foreign language

    @bixel:

    thx =) I didn't plan to keep the roof like it is atm. I just started put my attention to the other things before I go on with the plants

    @jacqulina: thx for the post! 4.gif

    @odd from sweden: thx man =) you're bats are great aswell!

    about the texture: yeah, that's right ( please look at "@bixel") and about the bushes. I didn't try to bat plants on my own yet 15.gif glenni shown me the stuff with the alpha textures just a few days ago but they still look like.. well.. I don't wanna say that word here

    could you help me ? or maybe you know a tutorial about how to make good looking plants ?

    Good work on the Beisheim Center, it was on my "Stuff-to-do"-list as well, but you executed it very well till now, so I don't see a reason the start on it myself.

    About the UVW-Unwrapping, maybe you will find this tutorial useful (it's in german and at the end of the first page the Unwrapping starts to get explained very well):

    Tutorial

    Furthermore, Odd from Sweden is particuarly right about the plants - you actually only need to create boxes, tubes or what ever and give it a bit more shape with the Mesh Editor for exampel. A good texture will do the rest, anything about alpha mapping shouldn't be needed for that.

    @praiodan: lol thanks ^^ I tried what you and odd said. didn't look thaaaaaaaaaaat bad for the first time. I hope to finish this bat this months though. aand thanks for the link. this should help

    @spa: thanks man 2.gif

    Here's another bat I'm working on atm.

    I gave this fantasy thing the name "Germany Center"

    it is supposed to be a complex of shopping, commercial and bureau. 3 buildings connected by a foot zone.. should take years to finish lol

    that's waht I've got that far:

    (for the universal use I'll put the flag and the letters away in the final version, I've added them just for fun 2.gif )

    gc1.jpg

    gc2.jpg

    Roof textures aren't the final textures yet

    Another good one. IMO you just caught the Berlin feeling in this new BAT. You could leave the letters though, because in a CJ or so everyone could use it as short for anything else, but you're particular right about the flag.

    Yet an advice on the tiling roof texture... I think it's a little bit out of place, you should consider using a (concrete) texture that is more similar to the one you used one floor higher.

    This looks like the makings of an excellent bat. Lots of nice little details. The revolving doors in particular caught my eye. Keep up the great work.
