    Update 22:

    Replies

jacqulina: Thanks for the kind words!

A view of central Port Royall showing the spread of the city to the west and north. You can also see some results of the hedge-row policy of building on cleared land and leaving the wooded areas in between as open spaces.

    pr12116ame4.jpg

These next shots are of some small towns that make up part of the metro area. Although they are still mostly agricultural, you can see evidence of the regions growth beginning to show up.

    Great overall layout!

I love how you mix the different zones together, nice arrangement for the farms and a great railway layout. I would have tried to avoid some railway crossings but all in all all of them could be built - none of them on my ant-crossing crusade!

Extreme good harbour layout with this huge warehouse district and a superb railway connection for all these warehouses.

    A true gem.

Man such farming areas near that downtown.I have always wondered how someone would build a downtown area near farms. You have done it very well in this last update. The space, greenery and overall enviroment make this update one of the best yet...

I like the river and how natural it looks. The bridges are perfect. Its really something!

    Great update!

owenluby - Hey, thanks. I wanted this cj to be a little more spacious than my others.

Nardo69 - I've thought about that and I am planning a transit line to the west and I'll try to do it without crossings.

jacqulina - Thanks you. I need more green space along the harbor though. A nice park with a zoo?

Cajh - Well howdy stranger, good to hear from you. The farms were there first and the city has grown out into them. I'm using the fields for new development and keeping the hedge rows as open space and buffers.

GMT - It will be a few days maybe until the next update unless I get some time in between things. Thanks for the visit.

    Update 23:

This is a quick one of the transportation map for part of the region.

Very nice suburban sprawl - I like how everything's spread out, with lots of open space in between.

Schulmanater: A belated thanks for the post. In most US cities, the suburbs are more open which this is an attempt at emulating. As the city grows an size the inner core become more dense (at least in those communities that have taken steps to in some cases revitalize the core area), and this then spreads outward in time.

    Update 25:

Downtown Port Royal's highrises glimmer in the night as cleaning crews and late workers go about their work. Banks, insurance and apartments make up most of the skyline, with a few general office buildings thrown in.

    pr12176cml6.jpg

The connector winds it's way through the south side past condo's and apartments.

The sunken concrete highway navigating through the city looks excellent - the way the highway takes up such a small amount of space reminds me of when you drive through New York City. But otherwise, the city has a Midwest/South feel with all the new development.

Basically, an excellent previous two updates

    Crashing Problems...

As some of you may know, there are crashing issues with the game, especially with newer machines running dual core processors. I am one of the "lucky" ones. It has made updates difficult and I have been spending a lot of time trying to figure out what is going on and how to fix it. You can read about the problem in the thread located in the bug forum.

    Anyway, some much neglected correspondence:

asturianu: Thanks for the reply and glad you like!

GreekMan: Thank you. I want to add more open space though.

    patriots_1228: I use the "Z_Asphalt-Highway-Textures mod".

pickled_pig: Thanks for stopping by. I'd like more of that feel downtown. Maybe another highway spur or something.

jacqulina: As always, thanks for the encouragement.

GMT: I changed that section of highway to another wall texture to see how it looks. Thanks.

homeandawaypalmbeach: Hey, glad you like it. Come again.

    DanTso: Almost 250K.

Mike the Mayor: A lot of trees help the effect.

Danza3343: The traffic isn't bad because I use a fair amount of mass transit, rail and bus, which helps the residential areas especially. Also, the commercial and industrial areas are dispersed so everybody is not trying to get to the same area at once.

    Update 26:

This is a quick update as I've been occupied with the Zoom/crashing problem. But this is an overview of Winchester, the second largest city in the region (or will be shortly). It is just across the pass from Port Royal and sits in a broad valley, with a lot of room to grow.
