When you download most buildings here, they are .exe files which don't work on macs, so this program kind of gets the stuff on the exe files into mac-compatible files. Here's my problem: When I have juiced some buildings, I have gotten weird things like mp3 files, stuffit expander stuff, and "txt" that is a bunch of gibberish. Is this right or did I do something wrong? What do I do with these? Also, how do I get to preferences?

google File Juicer... and download it.

I think it has been mentioned somewhere in this forum (can't remember by whom, and where), in the File Juicer programme, click on the Preference under the top-left menu. Check(tick) only the selected format...zip,cab, PDF, html... this will give us some .dat files..which can be used with mac.

Some files might also be extracted...most .txt files will be just code...find the html/pdf files which will provide the readme file, the .dat, and all others .Sc4 files which should be put in the plugin folder.

Some files might be extracted wrongly, where in those case, you should contact the author of the BAT/lots.

hope this helps.

File Juicer is no longer Juicing anything. It's saying there's nothing in the file, which I know isn't true. Any suggestions?

The Unarchiver, a freeware application for Mac, also opens EXE files. I think it would be a fine alternative to FileJuicer.

I don't know why, but I provided the ones on my site in non-exe format so that you would have a place to go get them.g.gif

this thread looks outdated. anyway..

for me the best solution is wine. file juicer generates a bunch of useless folders and files.

with wine you can use the exe installers as you would do in windows (for example it makes subdirectories as the original installer does)

it creates a folder with windows stuff so you can easily install files there. then you just pick up the files from the "windows" directory and put into your regular sc4 plugins.

it works well with bats but i was unable to install any tool such as terraformer or the lot editor, if anyone got it please pm me and explain how!

http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/wine/

it requires x11 and it only work on intel macs (but not completely sure..)

May as well update a bit more. It seems there are sporadic problems with File Juicer extractions so here is an extractor that hasn't failed me yet even on the troublesome archives and auto installers. Keko http://www.kekaosx.com/en/ OS 10.5 and up intel or ppc.

the free version is doing absolutely nothing. when i drag in the exe file, the app shows a loading bar and an image or something in that little box for like .1 seconds. Help please.

I recommend using wineskin over winebottler: http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/ it is easier and more reliable. It is still a step above for new users however, but it can be used to create custom apps ready for others to use.

I have the same problem DaggerBrent has. I tried to use File Juicer to extract BSC Essentials, but it says my trial has expired (even though I just downloaded it), and doesn't work. If I pay will this problem go away?

I've been using Wine. It works, and is free. I wouldn't bother with Filejuicer tbh

I can vouch for this.

Sorry to drag up an old thread... Been using Keko/Unarchiver and so far all my .exe files have failed to open? Usually get a fatal error?

When I extract files I think should contain some sc4lot files, im not seeing any (Bsc essentials, for example). Any ideas on how to find out if the exe should contain these, and why the sc4lots aren't getting extracted?

Hey, I've been playing sc4 for a while most of the years on my mac, which has been fine!

Recently i decided to try this FileJuicer business with absolutely 0% success....
Im wondering if I'm doing something wrong? or is there something I'm missing???

I dl file juicer, dl the file, drag it across to the little juice box, it does its magic and squeezes those lovely files out of that dastardly .exe file, and i get all the juicy goodness.
except, when i drag the files to the plug in files, no success, they are just not in the game what so ever...
mind you one of them was the BSC Mega packs, but there was no sort of installer as such..
any help?

also, i had downloaded a NYBT essentials pack, and then a file that required just the essentials pack as a plop but nope... no plop
but the NYBT essentials pack worked, because its changed the window for the query view when you clock on the houses?!?

If you look through some of the posts on this page, it does seem like FileJuicer has some limitations. Bear in mind it's not "free" software, what you get for free is a trial version only. There are other applications out there that do a similar job and it seems like you might be better off using those instead.

Perhaps try one of these?

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

In my (newbie) opinion, Wineskin Winery is the best option these days.

I didn't enjoy Keka and didn't want to pay for Juicer, but downloaded Wineskin Winery for free and have had 0 problems installing from .exe's since. There's a good youtube tutorial showing you how to use it:

I may prefer wine rather than wineskin, but configuring wine and winetricks could be really complicated that I used wineskin for launching the game and some tools but wine for installing plugins.

Neither do I know what the FileJuicer is and do I think that's something interesting.

by the way is there anyone know how to use DAMN Manager effectively in Mac with wineskin? The tool runs perfectly within it but nothing was shown in-game.
