Asturianu Cristian, thanks for coming by. I am sorry to hear about what happened at your school years ago. It's a shame that our world has come so far in material ways but lacks so much in other ways. Maybe one day people will learn to solve problems without all of the destruction and violence.

Belfastuniguy Thanks for coming by. I hope your schulmonetas will be ready soon. The update is getting formatted shortly!

    Homeandaway Thanks for stopping by!

DioAngel Thanks for coming by. I don't think I heard about the incident you referenced. When was it?

    Hester You are 1974!

Rewright It does come in handy if your turtles are dusty!

Zelgadis The gift basket was... ummm... appropriated from the Schulmania Tourism Board's office. So, the winner will receive it in a plain envelope.

sc4portugal Thanks for coming by! Only about 20 comments left until prize time!!

Devonshire: St. George - The Heart of Great Shopping

    lakegeorgesealkf4.gif

The natural beauty of this small town impresses all visitors, though is often taken for granted by the fortunate locals. The green hills and pristine lake offer views which both inspire and refresh. At the center of this sylvan glade is St. George's Church. This fine Georgian structure is the focal point of the community.

    church1pa1.jpg

This robust stone structure and its grounds climb up the hillside.

    church2rn6.jpg

Residents enjoy the short commute to church. Many climb up the crenellated tower for fine sunset views over the lake - and for the occasional watermelon dropping!

    church3vg4.jpg

Nestled snugly inside a ring of homes and shops, St. George's is the iconic symbol of the town.

    church4ba2.jpg

Rumor has it that one day a dragon will appear at St. George's and duel with St. George himself. Sometimes, myths are based on facts. I wonder if a dragon will come one day...

The residents of St. George enjoy the deluxe shopping emporia which comprise the Commerce Crescent. The Bank of Devonshire's main Lake George office is located here. And, Ferry's Wooden Shoes is a popular draw. These businesses provide employment to most of the residents and some commuters from Georgetown.

    commerce1ld8.jpg

The corner facing us houses several civic offices - the school, clinic, and town offices. Ground level shops include Blackie's Feline Victuals and the ever-popular eatery, Monkey's Chompeteria.

    commerce2ht6.jpg

The domed structure anchoring this lakeside corner is Federation Square. Several fine businesses can be found here. Facing on this side are, from left to right, Crusher's Apothecary, Montgomery Scott Engineers, and Riker & Troi Wedding Planners. The two shops to the left of Federation Square are Grand Nagus Toys (left) and Obsidian Order Jewelry Shop (right). The twin peaked home in the foreground is in a prime location. It's a safe bet that the owner is waiting for a great offer - maybe someone wants to make it a nice bed & breakfast, or perhaps a condominium.

    commerce8ta5.jpg

A wider view of Federation Square, showing the whole façade. From this angle, the dome of Riker & Troi is on the left side. From left to right on the façade facing out are Garak's Simple Tailor Shop, Profits of Bajor Investments, Neelix Confectioners, Vulcan Logic Accounting, and Borg Collectible Assimilators (domed).

    commerce3go3.jpg

The striped awning of Ferry's Wooden Shoe Emporium beckons the eager fashionistas of Devonshire. This corner store has proven so popular that it may expand with franchises across Schulmania. Unless the rumors are true, that the owner is squandering his money on building a giant windmill folly! The adjacent brick building facing us is Easilee Break's Crystal Shoppe.

    commerce6tm5.jpg

A wider view of the same area reveals nearby housing and other businesses. Interestingly enough, the annual paper airplane contests in Atkiniros inspired the development of the glider. One is seen at the bottom of the image above. Intrepid Schulminions would go up the belltowers of churches and sail off for a wild ride. When will they develop powered flight? Who knows- maybe soon!

    commerce4cg8.jpg

The most prominent building in this view of the commercial area of North Shore Road is the Bank of Devonshire. Its main Lake George area office is located here.

    commerce5df7.jpg

Facing the lake along the curve of Commerce Crescent, we see a mélange of homes and businesses. At the right we see the twin peaks of the home we admired earlier and Grand Nagus Toys. Several prime homes have excellent lake views as well. The small white home in the middle of the foreground is the cottage of Mr. Compass Pigeon.

    commerce7fo1.jpg

A wider view of the previous frame. Lakeside Commerce Crescent is a premier destination in the Lake George region.

Now that we have experienced the excitement of deluxe St. George shopping, prepare yourself for the beautiful vistas from each finely crafted home along Church Street.

Zelgadis This church serves all humanoid and feline denominations. In St. George, some cats are Catolic, some are Episcatpalian, and the 7 PM service is for the Pentecattals.

Hester That may be a tough sell for cats- they don't like water!

    sc4portugal Obrigado!

Bat Thanks! Glad you like it. Come and shop!

Krio Thanks! I have been having fun with the W2W. I like the latest you have come up with. W2W with a sleek Scandinavian feel.

DioAngel Check pg 66 for the contest. Only a few lift till the prize comes to some lucky commenter! And, I am glad you like the update. Aren't you due for a nice new house in Lake George?

Uumke Thanks! Glad you like the CJ. I have fun with it.

Homeandaway Thanks, Alex. Glad you like it!

fledder200 It's about time you showed up! Thought you were maybe stuck in Georgetown with your new improve band!

sc4portugal Hmmm... if you buy from yourself, you can get the 10% employee discount!
