Alex - I didn't forget you. I was just replying to the people who posted about the banners. Actually, gBay needs to get your gold coins for the lot you won. The gold may end up being diverted to ornate trinkets for the coronation!

Homeandaway I am glad that you and Blackie are settling in nicely!

sc4portugal Thanks for dropping by! BTW, for some reason your CJ doesn't want to load on my computer. I tried 4x and it froze every time. Argh!! As for a time frame, the timeline is somewhat more abbreviated than for regular humans. Thanks to feline overlordship, things progress faster. They are in an equivalent timeframe to about 1600. But, the standard of living is much higher than for standard 1600 life. Oh, and you can always buy cat toys in Schulmania!

Bat Thanks! I am glad you liked the banners! More shall be coming later.

Homeandaway What's Blackie having for dinner? The Supreme Wirdle prefers sardines, other stinky fish, and stinky organ meats (Fancy Feat beef hearts and livers, for example).

Jacqulina Thanks! I thought banners would be more period-accurate than standard flags.

infinitum19 I am delighted that you like them. I enjoyed making them as well.

Homeandaway Fear not! The next town on Lake George is at hand.

Krio Fear not! It doth cometh. As for the other, we'll work on it!

Cowcorn Thanks. I think they add a nice touch to Schulmania.

And, here's a hint about what's coming up:

Devonshire: St. George - Dragon Not Included

    lakegeorgesealkf4.gif

Our third stop on our tour around scenic Lake George is the town of St. George. This small town centers on the village church, St. George's Church. North Shore Road is the perimeter road which connects all four villages and connects them to the seaport on the coast. The town is basically a loop around the church. The upper loop, the residential area, is Church Street. The lower loop, the commercial area, which overlooks the lake, is Commerce Crescent. Huddled on the northeast corner of Lake George, the town climbs up some of the steepest terrain around the lake. The homes on Church Street have a magnificent vista. They can see the whole lake and all of the communities which surround it. The eastern edge of St. George is just a stone's throw from the western edge of Georgetown. As a matter of fact, this proximity is what prompted the villages to decide upon common city gates to mark the boundaries of each community. Four towns so close together need something to let you know when you are coming and going. Of course, regardless of which town you are in.... wherever you go, there you are.

Let's start our tour of this scenic lakeside town with some wide shots. Then, we can zoom in for more details.

    wideeast1zo9.jpg

From the east, the town can be seen rising up the hillside from the lakeshore. North Shore Road, which continues from Georgetown (to the bottom of the frame) is called Georgetown Road in the neighboring village. Commerce Crescent is the lakeside street to the left of the picture and Church Street loops around the right side of the frame.

    widesouthcv1.jpg

From the shore, looking north, it is easy to notice the incline up Church Street. St. George is the town with the most elevation change in the area.

    widenorth1qa0.jpg

From the north, residents at the top of Church Street have a commanding view of the lake.

    widewesthl3.jpg

From the west, Church Street can be seen basking in the beautiful fall colors of the surrounding forest.

    widewest2yd5.jpg

From the same angle, the whole town can be seen. The pairs of city gates at the top right mark the boundaries of St. George and of Georgetown. This is as close to one another as the villages of Lake George get.

Commerce Crescent is the street which loops around by the lake. It is mostly businesses, but a few lakeside homes have also been constructed.

    lakeview1yj5.jpg

These homes have a fabulous view and a short commute to nearby shops.

    lakeview2gz3.jpg

These homes right along the shore are among the most coveted in town. If you want to buy one of these, you'd better bring an extra bag of gold schulmonetas!

    lakeview3gu3.jpg

The small commercial district is quite upscale as well. In the corner shop by the shore is Ferry's Wooden Shoe Emporium. It is the sole distributor of wooden shoes in all of Schulmania. They have become rather popular recently.

    lakeview4uq5.jpg

Here, posh homes abut trendy businesses. The stately columned building in the center is the home office of the Bank of Devonshire.

As we begin the close up tour of town, let's enter through the city gates.

    citygate1ag2.jpg

The pedestrians have arrived from Georgetown to shop. With so many fine stores, you'd better bring some extra schulmonetas - and a cart to wheel home your purchases!

    citygate2zq5.jpg

When you look at the town as viewed from the east, it is easy to see why St. George has become such a popular destination for sopping and luxurious living.

In the next update, we will examine at close range the commercial and residential districts.

Excellent little village, so peaceful. I wait that day when Schulmania will become "modern" nation and it's cities are filled with skyscrapers!

Hi, Schulmanator. This is looking awesome - it's such an amazing cj. Could I ask, where did you get this white corner building? It looks wonderful.
