    Schulmanicus: Wirt's Really Old!

    schulmanicusmastheadbz2.jpg

Wirt, the capital of Schulmanicus and of Schulmania, is one of the oldest towns in existence. It centers upon Wirtyplace, the home of the Supreme Wirdle and administrative center of the realm. Unfortunately, a growing nation needs growing facilities, and the Supreme Wirdle can no longer tend to the nation's business from her kitchen table. A new facility, or facilities, is needed to handle the ever-expanding space needed for a burgeoning nation.

Before we see the newest additions to one of the oldest cities, let's look over the historic residential area. Ancient homes and farms, small gardens and quaint cobblestone streets make Wirt a picturesque town, worthy of note for its beauty as well as its political power.

    h1jy8.jpg

Strict preservation laws mean these ancient homes continue to be used as homes and preserves the integrity of their setting.

Down Edgehill Lane, small gardens back up to the thick forests of central Schulmanicus.

The residents on Glenwood Street grow much of their own food, only blocks away from the capitol.

Visitors to Wirtyplace are often boarded at the Guest House, shown at the center of the image.

    h5lt7.jpg

The national church, the Chapel of St. Francis & St. Flora, is as tiny as it is ancient. Many fine old homes look out upon the church.

    h7oq7.jpg

The outskirts of town are comprised mainly of homes, with some small businesses as well.

    h9gs0.jpg

These old, unassuming homes do not look very grand, but their proximity to Wirtyplace makes them in extremely high demand.

    h10qu0.jpg

On Mooky Lane, residents enjoy open spaces and the general store.

    h11qq6.jpg

A wider view of the southwestern part of town.

The oldest buildings are down Old Wirt Farm Lane. The farm still produces many of the crops used in town.

The oldest structures in town - including Ye Olde Meow Barn and the Whisker Stables. At the lower left is Robinson House, where the Supreme Wirdle's mother often stayed.

We will continue next time seeing the sites which comprise the commercial and governmental heart of Wirt.

    I'm ready too.

... oh... you already updated... oh well... well.. um... this is awkward isn't it... um...

Well I'm ready for the "next" update then...

Well I hope that the Wirt County Council has good public liability insurance... those cobbles look like they could do quite unnatural things to a cat's claw, should it become accidently caught.

I am just hoping that there are no cat-astrophes.

OMG, I'm impressed! Are you sure you're playing SimCity? 3.gif That's terrific! My head is flowing with countless thoughts, you can tell lots of stories here! 4.gif I really love the medieval feeling of Wirt, as I said earlier, it reminds me my favorite RPG!

Now, if you don't mind, I keep enjoying... 36.gif

    Hello, Schulmanator.

I am so very sorry it has been so long since I've posted a reply in your wonderful CJ.  I have no excuse other than allowing myself to be busy and (yes, I'll admit it...) a little lazy.  My non-posting has been bothering me a great deal and I can no longer let another day go by without posting a reply to your numerous update.

I am hopelessly behind in my replies here so I will apologize up front for having such a "broad brush" approach to my replies and not adding my usual detail.  Nonetheless, I believe I shall be able to give you good feedback.

    Devonshire: Schulmericho - Homeland Security

I see that you haven't lost any of your excellent ability for beautiful development.

I am so glad that my security consultant was able to be of service to you in strengthening the defenses around Shulmericho.  The town looks to be very secure now.  I am quite impressed with your improvements.  And, I must say that I am very pleased to have one of your foritication towers named after me.  It is an honor, Sir, and I shall proudly place its picture upon my Wall of Awards.

I must comment on "What's That Smell Parfumery".  I must agree with you concenring the wonderful smells waifting around this fine establishment.  Would you know if they are interested in creating custom formularies?  I have a woman friend who would be most delighted to have such an item.

Finally, I do believe that the Schulmaantor will make a fine watch tower from which to keep an eye on the World Ocean.  I am quite interested in the structure itself.  Would you be able to tell me its original name and from what architectural firm I can obtain it?  Thank you.

Devonshire: Schulmericho - Shop Local, Think Global

My dear Schulmanator, I must be honest with you and say that my recent trip to Schulmericho to look for a business site was most pleasant -- the more so as I was able to plan where to go based on your excellent update and "around-the-town" tour.  I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this quaint village is and the impression it has made on me.  I am seriously considering a second residence here as well as creating both a public (and, shhh, not-so-public) business presence as well.  Finally, I would like you to know that I did as instructed and emptied my wallet before leaving.  I am sure that I made many a Schulmericho's shop owners quite happy during my visit.

Atkinos: Governor's Challenge - Gran Maru

What a wonderful tour in and around Gran Maru.  I must say that the other entrants are going to have to be extra good to have a chance of beating out this beautifully planned and developed community.  I am quite impressed with the government's use of the Roman structures created by the excellent architect, psycholu.  Very impressive, my friend.

    Atkinos: Governor's Challenge - Atkiniros

Atkinos is another fine example of Schulmanian development.  There are some very beautiful areas within this community.  I must say, however, that my vote is still with Gran Maru.

    Governor's Challenge - Atkinos

I can tell you right now, dear Schulmanator, St. Paul's church is achingly beautiful.  I just adore the Mediterraean look and feel of this exquisite house of worship.  It is t

Like the new update, Wirt is looking very nice, im glad they kept it in good condition.

BTW, whenever i visit this CJ, random stuff pops into my head; today's is: why did you show a Buzz Lightyear wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back like 120 or so pages ago when it seems they haven't even been investigating the nighttime stars? Was it a symbol of their ongoing quest for knowledge and inevitable movement for discovery?

EDIT: I almost forgot to compliment the Ped Mall Tile cobblestone walkways... they're very realistic.

ky72x I am glad you liked the newspaper. You are welcome to a complimentary subscription.

Mr. Beer 9 lives is just about right!

KingTitan A Velvet Elvis & A Velvet Wirdle... a winning combination.

Bakercity lol! The Supreme Wirdle does not condone snacking on insects. She prefers canned or fresh feasting!

penguin007 Your will has been done!

    dralin321 Hope you like it!

gabry85 Come on over! She is having a state dinner tonight at Wirtyplace. The menu: freshly caught chipmunk au jus served on a bed of tri color farfalle, served with Monkey Power Mountain wine and Busscastle chocolate for dessert.

Abcvs Do you dare read it? Do you dare?! It may be more than you can take! Read at your own risqué!

Benedict Thanks! Actually, the curved terraces are UK themed lots from SC4D.

Leech10 Those post bugs - like lemmings - they keep coming and coming - then meeting their doom!

suplado! Hope you like the new update.

    Leech10 Thanks!

suplado! It's one of the oldest towns in the nation - one of the first ever founded.

dralin321 It's pretty tranquil for a national capitol. Has to be - don't want to wake anyone from their nap!

Abcvs Fear not! Cat claws do not stick in the cobble gaps. They have been known to stick in some interior fixtures. So, one has to be careful to retract one's claws when entering the home of someone with shag carpeting.

Jacqulina Thanks! I am glad you like it!

Hester Cool! "Enchanting Wirt" - a new tourism slogan?

KingTitan Not in duration but it is in pages. I like Schulmania more than RL most days!

Mike the Mayor Thanks! It has been a while since I showed the old old stuff.

sc4portugal Thanks! It is very nice for a capital. There is more to see next update too.

gabry85 Quit making me blush! 43.gif I am glad you like it. I do try to hold myself to a high standard - for SC4 anyway. Post up some screencaps of your RPG so I can compare!

penguin007 Thanks! They are actually retaining walls laid on a flat surface, since the pedmall cobblestone street was too charcoal colored for the town.

Vandy Hopelessly behind? That sounds sad. We must catch you up post haste! I am pleased that you see improvement in the Schulmericho fortifications. Hopefully, they will be sufficient to withstand any insectoid intruders. The tower to which you refer can be found here: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=17195 .

Your freshly emptied wallet, by the way, went over quite well with the shopkeeps of Schulmericho. They wonder if you will stop by again after the next payday. Oh, before I forget, Gov
