Devonshire: Schulmericho – Shop Local, Think Global

                                                                                                               

Schulmericho is a bustling hub. Many prominent businesses have their origins here – and others have significant presences. We will see some of the businesses featured here. In a future update, we will review the Schulmericho Yellow Pages for more about the economy and the thriving shops and entrepreneurs.

 

Cataçao Court hosts perhaps the most quaint entrance gates to Schulmericho. Several fie boutiques are located here.

 

At the center is the newest Bird’s Nest Cat Café, selling gourmet birds to hungry and sophisticated cats. The adjacent, distinctive tower is the signature symbol of Hester’s Punctuation Emporium, inventors of the question mark. They recently patented the “???” and the “???????????????”The turreted corner building is the home of Mass Quantities Buffet… three floors of all you can eat pizzas, meats, vegetables, and desserts. But, no onions.

 

At the town square, many businesses prosper. The prominent five story building near the center is the new headquarters for U-Boat Plumbing. After the merger, U-Boat became the largest plumbing and pipefitting service in Devonshire, and second only to Take The Plunge of Atkinos for the whole nation. The domed corner building is another outlet of What’s That Smell? Parfumery, the nation’s largest fragrance wholesaler and retailer.

 

At the west end of Memorial Square, the WTS? Flagship store anchors the commercial district. Next door is Archive ’80, the first personal records storage and archive site in the nation. The back end of Nurse Chapel peeks out at the far left of the image. Adjacent to it is the twin gabled Movie Theater. Movies, you ask? In these pre-electricity days, movies are big flip books of pictures. Sorta like chart paper someone flips through real fast. Forward thinking, aren’t they?

 

At the southeastern end of Memorial Square sits the distinctive gray slate home of the town council. The city hall is a distinctive landmark located in the heart of the city.

 

The Passage hosts many firms, including the Soona’ de Betta’ package delivery service and, in the center of the image, Château Schulman, the town’s first five star hotel.

 

Down List Lane, accountants and paralegals set up shop. The tall white building is the firm of Dewey Cheatham & Howe. The school at lower left (with the slender, domed tower) is one of three in town.

 

In the bustling northeastern corner of town, a block from the gate on Cataçao Court, the bustling garment district employs hundreds of skilled craftspeople. The Meatloaf Diner sits on the corner of Wall Street and Dark Alley. Oddly, many of the diner’s outside tables are rarely unoccupied, despite their location on Dark Alley.

 

The western end of town is populated by homes and small businesses. Here, one can find boutiques such as Dr. Nick Riviera’s Cat Scratch Fever Pills, Ima Dinosaur’s Fossil Fashions, Georg Friedrich’s Handles & Hinges, and Joe Mama’s Consequence Delivery Service.

 

Two popular plces for out of town guests are the Comeon Inn (left center) and its neighbor, the Notell Motel (right center). On the corner sits Wall Mart, a general store known for its location right across the street from the wall.

brother in comedy - *giggles* you make me laugh changing the composers's names hehehe. The movie theater is very interesting! ;-) The rest of the update is excellent! :-) Speaking of music... I'm going to work on the presentation for music class, I choose J.S Bach (Beethoven is not available this semester due to the very long chapters) for now.. which is good for me cause I have some of his cds and known some of the info about him. :-)
