Shadow- I don't comment here enough, but like I once said to John (Darmok)-

Your CJ leaves me overdrawn at the superlatives bank.

Looking at pics in Ensenada is like glimpsing the Grail...

...no, not that one [ linkie ]...

...that level of CJ accomplishment that is out there, somewhere, for only those seekers who are the most accomplished and perservering.

Oh, and did I say great transportation map, too?

Thanks for letting us in on your latest vision of what a really, really great CJ can be.

Hey Daniel,

Wow, simply WOW, those mosaics are so stunning! 6.gif

Especially the second one! This is one of the BEST school setup I've seen so far in Simtrop!

The way you've sunken the soccer field in the side of the knoll, the sparse trees the loooong walkways between the school and the college!

Fantastic! ** scribbling notes to self **

Storywise....

Okay okay I can appreciate a good cliffhanger like anyone else, but at least when reading a book we can turn the page and continue....  26.gif

Now we'll have to wait, don't we....

Hehehe... Loving it my friend!

Have a great weekend!

John

Once again I am double commenting... 4.gif

There is something about this CJ that just makes me want to start again... Your suburbs and cities are just the most pleasing thing I have seen. I can't get enough of it...

How do you do it? Where do you begin with a fresh city tile? It is mind boggling...

You sir, are a saint in the name of SC4. I am in love with this CJ.

AWESOME!

Update 5: What Really Lies Underneath

Previously, our protagonist was holed up in Omega 4, observing the secret goings on in the long abandoned base. Recently, after many years of inactivity, the base was once again started up...

And he was charged with the responsibility of finding out just why it had been started up after so long.

    [continued from previous update]

As the lights along the walls of the large room turned on, the mysterious object in the room was lit up.

It was a large, gleaming silver rocket, approximately sixty metres tall. The scaffolding, rusted in a number of places, was still standing alongside the rocket.

Now, what could a rocket like this be doing here? As I looked at the rocket, I heard footsteps outside. I quickly clambered back into the air duct and replaced the cover once again, and just in time, too.

"Is the project going well?" I recognised the voice of the Councillor of Brackenfell. It sounded like he had a number of unknown people with him. Looking through the gaps, I quickly counted four people. The Councillor was obstructing my view, standing in front of the other three people.

He then moved, revealing the faces of the other three, one of whom I recognised. I was confused. What was she doing here and why?

"Hm. What's this?" She picked up something off the floor. It seemed to be a screw of some sort. She looked at the screw, then at the air duct covering. I held my breath, praying she wouldn't investigate the opening. When she moved away, I quickly glued a listening bug to the side of the duct where it would catch everything they said and climbed back up to the horizontal section of the duct, where I could quickly escape to safety. I followed the trail I left behind back to the mine entrance.

    * * *

Lucienne looked at the screw, then looked at the air duct opening. She frowned, thinking she saw something move behind the air duct covering. She later shrugged it off as a perfectly normal occurence in such an old facility. Approaching the Councillor, screw in hand, she quickly provided a status report.

    "Well?" she said.

"Well what?" one of the other men.

    "What's going on here?"

    "..."

"I don't know what to say to that." Turning to the Councillor of Brackenfell, she then said, "So, what of the progress of Omega?"

"It better be going well. The last thing we can afford is for the project to be delayed again. Our backers won't be too happy about it--"

A fifth person quickly barged into the room, interrupted the conversation, panting. "Sir, we've got a problem."

    "What is it?"

"We've just received news from the research facility at Broken Mesa--"

"What's that got to do with us? Broken Mesa's over 200km away!"

"It will affect us soon. We have to close off all the underground tunnels between here and Broken Mesa..."

"Did they say why?" the Councillor said with a quizzical look. "How are we supposed to do that? The controls up here don't do anything!"

"No, sir. All they told us was that there's an accident there. One of the dangerous sort."

Lucienne remembered that Broken Mesa was supposedly a top-secret facility. Who knew what they cooked up there? If the tunnels had to be closed, something bad must have happened...

    * * *

    ensenada501ch5.jpg

Later that week | The mobile phone rang. After what had happened at Broken Mesa, Lucienne was taking no chances. She picked up the phone and answered.

    "Yes?"

    "This Lucienne?"

    "Yes... now, who's this?"

Ignoring the question, the voice said "Stay where you are for a couple of hours. Something will happen - you'll know what it is.", and then hung up.

Looking at her watch, Lucienne saw that it was approximately 10.00, and knew that she'd be waiting a while.

    * * *

    ensenada502sm8.jpg

The Councillor was enjoying a game of golf at the Greater Midlands Golf Course. He was halfway down the sixth hole when a shot rang out. He felt a brief pain, then collapsed on the fairway, with a dart sticking out of his shoulder. In a few moments, two dark figures ran out and dragged him back into the forest surrounding the fairway. He was half-conscious, barely registering what was happening right now. Then he fell into a dreamless sleep.

    ensenada503hs5.jpg

Later that day, he woke up, still groggy from his drugged sleep. A man was waiting at the front of the bed the Councillor was lying in.

"The good doctor wants to see you now."

    "Who?"

    "The good doctor!"

He soon registered a shock, realising that his "backers" had arranged this meeting. He didn't know where he was, still disoriented from the effect of the drug. Reality was, he was in fact in one of the many rooms of the Country Club, but he didn't realise that.

A few minutes later, he stumbled into a small, dark room with only one occupant. The "Good Doctor".

"So, Mr. Councillor, where's my return of investment?"

    "It's... going well." he mumbled.

"You should know by now that I don't like being lied to."

    "Yes, I know..."

"We have our... spies in your facility, Mr. Councillor. Now, go. Don't displease me again."

    "Yes, sir."

He left the room, and was promptly injected by one of the Good Doctor's crew. He once again collapsed to the floor, asleep. They dragged him away to a large black 4WD that was waiting just outside.

    ensenada504mt9.jpg

The men quickly dumped him outside a small, wholly unremarkable building. A few seconds later, someone came out of the building. It was one of the Councillor's assistants.

"They got you again, didn't they, sir?"

"Don't talk about it out here!"

He quickly picked himself up, and ran into the building.

"So, what's our status on Broken Mesa?"

    "I don't know, sir."

    "Then find out!"

    ensenada506se1.jpg

It was getting quite dark in Ensenada. Earlier that day, Lucienne was the witness to something quite unusual that had happened at Ensenada Tower. She saw two people exchange a mysterious briefcase. Was this the event that the voice was talking about?

The phone rang again. She picked it up.

    "Lucienne speaking."

    "Did you see the event?"

    "I think so."

"Either way, that's an important clue. Remember it - it will solve some mysteries of your own." Then, once again, he hung up.

Confused, Lucienne put the phone back down. Who was he?

Welcome back to Ensenada after so long. I must apologise for my lack of presence here in the last four weeks. I've just had a bad bout of RL. But thankfully, it's over. And we're introduced to two new cities today: Ensenada and Greater Midlands.

Oh, and thanks to those people who nominated me for the Trixie. 9.gif I'm honoured.

    Replies:

    -M-: Thanks!

    emilin: Thanks!

    metasmurf: Thanks!

natuurzoon: Thanks! I just use a Building Blocker Mod, one that blocks all Maxis R$$$.

    bat (twice): Thanks!

    Mulefisk: Heheh. Thanks! 3.gif

    Fred_Ginger: Indeed. Thanks!

David (Mr. Beer): I made the BAT myself. It's only eyecandy that looks as if it's functional 3.gif I can't get a picture right now, seeing as SC4 isn't open.

    jasperdeman.nl: Thanks!

crazychickensc12: Unfortunately, no, I don't have a different angle of it, but I can get one soon.

    Waerth: Thanks!

    Schulmanator: LOL, thanks!

dedgren: Careful, you don't want to get a bad credit rating. 3.gif Thanks! Oh, and I loved that movie.

    connor_v: Thanks!

    Yoman3: You'll see. 2.gif

    Leech: Thanks!

Owen (twice): Thanks! *shrug* I jump between city tiles from update to update. I take pictures whenever I feel like showing something new, even if it's been shown in a previous update.

magpieshooter: Indeed, that was the effect I was going for. 3.gif

    Ded: Thanks!

John (Darmok): Thanks! And that cliffhanger should hopefully be resolved in this chapter.. Sorry I kept you waiting for four weeks 3.gif

    rusty_777: Thanks!

Patriots_1228 (twice): And I did. 3.gif I was just taking a break, yes, but it was one that was forced upon me: RL beckons, and beckons hard.

toxicpiano: Who knows? I can't resist making pop culture references 3.gif

Jacqulina (three times!): Thanks! Eh, and thanks for bumping this CJ 3.gif It's nice to see I have a loyal crowd. 9.gif

    gurrgkud: Thanks!

JaneJacobs: Thanks! Nah, the turnips are just random. I felt like adding them in 3.gif

    GMT: Thanks!

    Waz_Up_Tiger: Thanks!

    RushHourFreak: Thanks!

flame1396: Thanks! Yup, it's all my own work, but I do borrow from popular culture from time to time, just to give people something to relate to.

    bearmans: Thanks!

Update 6 will come soon. I promise I won't go off like that again. 3.gif
