Hello, All.

Map_This_NHP.jpg Map ThisCartography Services

in partnership with New Horizons Productions

I would like to present to you the first map I've made and released under the New Horizons Productions banner.

Dichostasia

a Greek word that can be translated "stand apart"

Dichostasia was commissioned by and produced for the Multi-Player Region Play (MuPRep) Group at Pegasus Productions for their use in creating a multi-player environment for SimCity 4 play.  It is being offered to SimTropolis members under the NHP banner.

Dichostasia offers a wide river valley with multiple rivers flanked by two mountain ranges.  There is a long and inviting coastline for development of seafaring communities.  The river valley offers a large area for developing small to large cities and the mountainous areas afford the development of “artist” communities or vacation/tourist types of towns.  The long coastline gives ample opportunities for developing seaports and tourist-related industries with some off-shore islands that are just begging for visitors.

The map was created from an image I thought up then transferred as a line drawing into PaintShopPro 9.01.  From the line drawing, I created a grayscale elevation map and imported that map into SC4Terraformer.  From SC4TF, I completed the map design and added the details seen below.

Please consult the Read Me file for a detailed storyline as well as detailed instructions on how to install the map.

If you have any support questions concerning the map, please direct them to the NHP Support Thread.

Map Type:  Fantasy

Region Size:  640 x 640 pixels (non-grayscale .SC4M image)

config.bmp size:  10 x 10 pixels

Map_This_NHP.jpg Map ThisCartography Services

in partnership with New Horizons Productions

NHP is please to present to you Carthage - Region of the Stones.

In a time far removed from now, El Shaddi (loosely translated as “God of the Stones” ) moved through the universe checking His creations.  A solar wind gusting through a cloud of dust caused a stony piece of stellar matter to lodge in El Shaddi’s eye.  This caused discomfort to El Shaddi.  He opened His eye wide and shook His head to dislodge the stony speck of dust.  Suddenly, it flew free from the moist lining of the eye and hurtled through the depths of space being chased by one of His teardrops.  As the stony speck flew through space, its mass grew as other pieces of stellar matter were attracted to it and, eventually, stuck to it.  After some time, the stony speck had grown into a planet-sized body all the while being chased by El Shaddi’s teardrop.

That part of the planet-sized body that became known as lace>Carthage3.giflace> was a flat and featureless area of land waiting to history to overtake it.  Finally, as the now planet-sized stony mass stabilized and started to move in a predictable orbit, it was overtaken by the teardrop which engulfed the baby planet with a life-sustaining flood of water and energy.  At the point in time that El Shaddi’s teardrop hit the new planet, the lace>Carthage3.giflace> region was immediately inundated by water – history had arrived.

The remains of El Shaddi’s teardrop flowed over the land until a balance was found between the two leaving our familiar landmasses and oceans.  After some time, the planet came alive with flora and fauna and, a strange animal that walked on two legs who consciously pondered on the force that brought it into being.

Eons passed and the new planet grew mature.  Many plants and animals came and went until there was a balance that seemed to please the Spirit of the Stones that made up the planet.  That strange two-legged animal – man – became the master and guardian of the planet all the while realizing a Higher Power directed his thoughts and actions.  These cognizant thought processes eventually led man to a formalized way of expressing devotion to the Spirit of the Stones.  Thus, the Clan of the Stones was born and lace>Carthage3.giflace> took its place as another of El Shaddai’s creations.

Map This! –Cartography Services is please to present to you lace>Carthage3.giflace> – Region of the Stones.  The original map was hand-terraformed in SimCity 4 and then completed using the SC4Terraformer application.  lace>Carthage3.giflace> is a “strip map” with a configuration bit map size of 4 x 13 pixels and region size of 256 x 832 pixels.  There are 12 medium size city tiles and four small city tiles.  The terrain features a variety of mountain ranges and high plateaus/tableland leading down into a number of river valleys finally ending in wide bays and a river delta.  There will be plenty of opportunities to develop many types of rural farming, towns and villages as well as big cities.

By the Beloved Creator’s hand this land is given to you and may the Power of the Stones be with you.

I'd like to make a map request and I hope this is the right place. Is there anyone who can make a map of Manchester, U.K.? A scale of 16 x 16 km works for me...the thing I'd like most of all is to make sure that its rivers and canals are included. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help...

Have patience, Patience!!

Anyways, I could probably add this map to my long list of maps I am currently doing. If you don't mind waiting 2-3 months for the map, I could have it uploaded by then.....

We have a couple of other request takers on our team, they may be interested. If not, I may be able to produce a one-off for you.

With canals and rivers, the DEM data has to be reliable, especially the shoreline data. In my experiences with international (USA has the best DEM's typically) the data is not so great. But, it may be worth a try!! So stick around...

Don't under-estimate yourself Wou. You are an amazing programmer, without your nifty little programs, this game would still be in the dark ages.

JP- thanks for taking the time to post a thank you and links to the winning maps from the NHP Team. Your post echo my sentiments, couldn't have said it better myself.

I have a couple of new maps which should be ready for release in early '07, beskhu3epnm has several real-world map projects on his plate and jplumbley and besk have their map they're working on which should be released sometime very soon. Hello all,

With Christmas finally out of the way, NHP can finally upload the Columbia River Valley map. You can see some of it on JPlumbley's page, and over at Simtropolis under the CJ Creation of Map Invermere Valley.

Anyways, I will now post my final comparison shots using that map.

Could someone please make an accurate scale map of Nashville-Davidson County, TN? If you can't fit everything, that's okay, I'd like as much of Davidson County as you can get though.

HayHay,

NHP are currently getting back into the swing of things! There has been somewhat of a hiatus or temporary hiatus for most members for the following reasons:

1. Hardware Problems (MEGA MAJOR: beskhu3epnm, moganite, blade2k5)

2. School/Work/Co-Op (jplumbley, MallowTheCloud, MrFood11)

3. RL (HabLeUrG, Vandy)

Anyways, the hardware problems should be resolved soon, so I may be able to fulfill your request. I have a list about 14 maps long right now, so if you are willing to wait.... (perhaps a month or so?) Currently, that's the best I can do. If another member is willing to take you up on it, cool!

Just send me a reminder via PM after some time has passed.... Thanks for checking out our thread!

Hello everyone,

As i saw here in this thread, you take request for accurate scale maps. The thing is,since i start playing sc4 some years ago,I always wanted to do my hometown map,as I think it offers everything you can imagine(beaches, big flat space where the town center lies, mountains for rural towns, even mountains really near the beach,etc....)Where I live is in Malaga,Spain. It is a spanish city located in the south center of the spanish peninsula.Quite famous among the european tourists, its one of the most tourist places in Spain, quite beautiful place as well. The thing is I tried several times to do the region, but i always had problems to do the sector of the west coast, where a big mountain line lies really near the sea. Then once done,it was so hard to build in those conditions, and also it was not even close of what it looks in RL.So,I will be more than happy if someone could take this request and make it real for everyone in Simtropolis to enjoy building there, though I will be the most happy of all of them, lololol. Also,as the city is in the middle and the coast line is quite extended in both sides,I will give details to the person that takes the project from where to where it is worth terraforming this map.

Well, hope that someone find this map interesting.Apart from this request, keep up the good work because your maps look awesome!!!

Thanks in advance

Blowfly

PS:Sorry for my pretty bad english and understand that it is soo hard to explain yourself in another language ;P

Hey everyone. Good work, I like what I see. I need a favor from you experts. Above is a link to a Map that I would like for someone to please make as accurately as possible using the instructions below.

The Map should be the same shape as the Map linked above. It should be surrounded by water. You could also add two or three extra cities on the edge of the region so that airports and seaports can be placed on both sides of the body of water. It woul be nice to see the planes leaving from my map and going across the water to the extra cites. By the way you can make those extra cities anyway you want, but not too much mountains.

The map should be large but not huge. The Land should be flat, and all rainforest expect for the southern part which should be flat grassland. There should only on mountain, and it should be located in the spot marked YEKEPA on the map. I want to be able to build a city at the bottom of the mountain. If you look closely at the map, you will see three tiny black lines labled LOFA, SAINT PAUL, and CESTOS running through the map north to south. Those are rivers. If you can somehow creat them in the the map that would be great. The southern part should have good shorelines for ports and beaches.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I'd just like to say your map service is wonderful! Ok now i would like to request a map of a Japanese city for my next CJ as the only Japanese city is Tokyo. I was thinking about Sapporo beacuse of the fact that it is right in the mountains and id like to see my cities covered in snow.
