Shinure and Artoxb, thanks for sharing your creations.

GB, I played around a bit with my map based on your excellent creations...

I tried to make the lines mirror yours a bit more (and put Riverside station in a better place). I also put the extensions on in the last rendition. The end result is, I think, better than my first try - it fills the space better and doesn't make the circle look so dominant. And all I can say is, thankfully you chose short names for your stations. Did you know that maneuvering the lines around Tottenham Court Road is one of the biggest problems for designers of the London Underground map? No such worries with your map.

Haha, mentarman, you are evil. That is the part of my map that I am least happy about - I much prefer how GB did that part on his map. I could change it, but I was being lazy.

Here is a map I started working on the other day, it is still pretty ruff and I haven't settled on whether or not I am going to keep the design but nevertheless here it is 4.gif. Comments are always welcome:

Barbula, that is a great start - I'm really looking forward to seeing the map with all the stations and connections. It looks good against the dark background. And the map of the downtown loop is very nicely done.

Wow, GB, that is looking great. I can't wait to see a version with the metro/subway stations on.

Latest Port Sinclair Monorail map: fitrst stage of the Peninsula line open, planning for an infill station for the new casino, and the southwestern ends of the Lake and Central Lines have been extended by a couple of stations.

here's a quickie i made in illustrator this afternoon. inspired by that russian one shown earlier in the thread. not based off a real city or even one of my sc4 cities, just fooling around. the purple and yellow lines are supposed to be GLR/E-Rail, so that's why those have the tracks. also, notice that the subway lines (solid colors) all run underneath the river and the GLR over it to reflect reality more clearly.

hope you guys like it, and click the link for the full resolution! (300x3000, 1.4MB)

undergroundmapbetterbd9.th.jpg

it also shows connections to the ferry on the Purple Line and indicates that the Blue Line reaches the airport

I'm going for a Google Maps look.  The map represents what's been built in this region so far: one medium-size city tile.  This thread is actually half the reason I came back to SC4.

zoom90cg8.pngzoom90copycn8.jpg

90 dpi for the whole region.  1 px = 1 city tile.  Give or take anti-aliasing.

210dpi fits a large-tile city at 600px.

400 dpi.

Edited to fix PNG incompatibility.

Lamplings is a medium-sized city. The Seaside Railroad is passenger heavy rail, the Underground Loop is a subway, and the Red, Yellow, Green, and Blue Lines are GLR. The Blue Line connects to the airport, while the Yellow makes a loop around the Industrial Park. The Seaside Railroad, Red Line, and Blue Line continue past city limits, while the Green and Yellow Lines terminate within city limits. When the city is completed, perhaps I will add specific stations. For now, enjoy!

TheSixCents? What is your map of. I clearly see Asia and Europe, but some of the geographical features look distorted. Something on it is playing with my eyes...

rodrigogua, that's an interesting take on a map - the drop shadow looks really nice, not what I would have expected.

Shingure, nice to see you experimenting with another map.

TheSixCents, that's pretty neat... if only the real world was a bit more connected like that.

mayorbk, great google-style, looks awesome.

waway625, great outlines on your region map.

stratusmonkey, great mapping, and a great nickname, too 2.gif

Jondude11, thanks for adding your map - it looks a bit confusing! Do the trains do a figure of 8 around the parts of the loop? What do trains heading north (top of your map) do?

Joe90, ah, yet another fantastic map from you. Have aI told you how much I like the 'winged' route numbers? Very art deco, very cool.

CowboySean, it is a map of IPON, one of the CJ unions.

The full glory of this map simply won't fit the 800x600 image restriction, so I'll send to you this link...

Are these maps real?

I mean in your whole city you've got only these lines of subway?

After the Simnation rail system collapsed, Seaside County bought up some of the old lines and built a system running from small town to small town. Usage more than doubles in the summer when tourists flock to the beaches and quaint Main Streets.
