nope, neither are replaced. we've had a few attempts but nothing took shape. Something you could help out with?

and yes, we are still using the SMEX.

well you can use the original HSRP for monorail, and use SimCIty_IE (earwax_man)'s for el-rail, with a extremely simple IID change (just change the first 2 digits from 0d to 08).

Oh and I'll need a list of all the people who can have access to the SMEX, the only reason is because there are some people uploading(And I don't think it's anyone from SImmars/ST) php (and other files) which are things like backdoors and I don't think the host will be happy about that (I'm not paying btw, just I don't want my account suspended or anything). And I'll delete anyone not on the list.

But feel free to continue using the SMEX : )

Gonzalo -- SMEX is the SimMars Team's file sharing site. We are limiting access to it because of possible hacking. If you have something to share with us, please show it in the appropriate thread and we will point you to the SMEX when it's ready to be uploaded. Presently we have closed submissions for the Beta 3 so that it can be prepared for release but we encourage all newcomers to continue discussing their SimMars related projects in the Workshop fora either for consideration in the next release or for upload individually to the STEX.

If you would like to join our team, please introduce yourself in the Workshop - Open Discussion thread (https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=107&threadid=81304&enterthread=y) and tell us a little bit about your ideas and level of experience. We welcome all interested artists.

I have been playing around with the Lot Editor and SC4Tool and turned the Seaport into a Spaceport. Textures from the original still show up in game, but the Water tile requirement has been removed and it can be plopped anywhere. It has freight capacity and can be TE'd for train connection. In combination with an Airport for passenger handling and a variety of Parks it makes a convincing Spaceport.

It does look good, but the textures need to be more SM like and the model too.

I thought for sure I asked about this before, but I can't seem to find where I asked about it, so I'll ask again.

Anyway, was El-Rail going to be replaced with HSR? Because if it is, I'm working on a mod that replaces El-Rail with HSR. So far, it works pretty good, and the SC4Paths line up, too.

    HSR

Basically, I want to know if it's going to be used before I do any real work on it.

The El-Rail to HSR is going to be more complicated than I thought.

It turns out that not all of the El-Rail pieces have HSR pieces that can replace them.

It'll probably take me quite a while to make the missing pieces.

I think it would be a good idea to implement some features to make mars more pedestrian friendly. I like how some buildings have a feel to them as if they are partially underground and I think I've seen a high wealth residential building that's just a glass ceiling that reveals underground condos, but I think there should be a way to make the buildings. The ATEX idea that keeps getting thrown about looks great and it should be adopted to create pedestrian tunnels that could serve as eye candy and land value boasters in high density areas. They could be either put on top of roads or serve as pedestrian malls like in NAM and have small branches that create the illusion that they are connecting to other buildings. They would have to use a style or several styles to choose from that would make them seamless. There could possibly be glass or totally covered versions that would give the cities a very techy sci-fi feel. The ones over roads and avenues would of course just raise land value and they would have to function as 1x1 transit enabled lots that have BAT models extending a certain length down a road or avenue. I suppose there could even be an entrance lot that functions as a toll appearing to direct road traffic to an underground tunnel under the street level, while the covered street level appears to be all pedestrian with either no view of the street, or it could appear like a glass covered retail mall. I would assume such street covers would be pretty expensive, especially since they would create the illusion that road traffic is underground and they would have to be modular.

Realistically, If you live on mars, you would probably avoid going outside due to UV radiation, and who knows, a lot of people may not be able to even afford space suits.

It would be really exciting to see an idea like this implemented. It would add an extra sci-fi edge and make cities more diverse. I feel like it may be within modding capability. I hope it isn't too difficult though.

An underground network? Now this is something that I really want to see in SimMars :golly:

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

"Without deviation from the norm, progress is not possible." - Frank Zappa

"The wisest men follow their own direction." - Euripides
