These were the street textures I  was working on:

    nomorestreetsj9.jpg

It didn't work out though. Street textures can't have a direction on it (like the arrows in the pic) because the game mirrors textures at some points and that messes up the whole thing.

I turned to a texture based on Sarg's design:

    newstreetsdc6.jpg

    To be finished yet.

You could make glr just pavement with painted lines that guide the trams which would have rubber tires

Even today in 2006 steel rails are being made obsolete.. why would they have that on mars?

With the wind there?? They'd be blown away.

For practicallity, they would most likely be heavy and robust. Probelly Half-Tracks or Full-Tracks, or having many axels.

Wasn't it decided elsewhere that although the wind is fast, it's not very powerful, because of the thin air?

That was against structures rooted to the ground by heavy foundations.

We're talking about light vehihles that arn't connected to anything.

I don't think that the wind develops the needed power to push when it hits the surface of a vehicle, even if it is very fast. That's how I understand the wind situation on Mars. Some experts needed here to clarify.

Justintime: Those traffic lights on the right of your last picture look pretty Sci-Fi. And the halo could work well, too.

Not really, at least definietly not yet. I have just come to almost finish the road textures, which took me quite a while. But we might need ANT inclusion in the future.

Those are nice streetlamps? Someone up for BATing them? *smile

It will be a big addition to Sim Mars, if this thing turns out functional....Aerotube Express (ATEX)
It is just an eyecandy. I am not a LOTer..... Can this be MODed so that it functions as monorail??

Of course, Mars version will be orange than blue.

Even if that can't be modded that looks so good. Especially the downward descent to the station and the overlapping areas. Nice work! :]
