Justaregular_joe - the best place to start learning how to build cities is to go to omnibus. there is a wealth of information there on how to build all kinds of citys from starter towns, realistic suburbias, and pretty much anything else you could ever want to know.

For the roundabouts you need the NAM. After installing it, build a 2x2 square of road. You can then drag road, street, and oneway off of it. The same works with streets. You can also build a 3x3 square of oneways to make a larger roundabout with a space in the middle.

Okay, perhaps I am too new to the whole forum thing, or perhaps I am more relaxed than others, but... (and this might get me banned), who the heck cares that he was using all caps? I'm sorry, but sometimes people complain about the silliest things. I personally could care less. In fact, last time I checked (and this is universal) CAPS MAKE THINGS EASIER TO READ. This isn't AIM and it isn't shouting.

Now, returning the point of the post, it does indeed sound like you need the NAM. When you have it installed, you can easily drag the avenue to the highway to trigger an intersection, and/or a merging. Regarding the roundabouts, the NAM readme with tell you how to make them, but simply put:

Road Roundabouts: create a small 2x2 square. When you start the last leg of thwe 2x2, you will notice that the cursor will change to a half circle (for the roundabout), indicating the result, if you finally plop it. I think 4 roads (streets, avenues, whatever) can come into it without issue.

One-Way Roundabouts: The only difference here is that you will leave a fill tile unused in the middle of the roundabout (my favorite place for 1x1 items, like Big Ben or a Mayor Statue). Simply create a 3x3 square, instead of the 2x2 for roads.

Unfortunately, there isn't a roundabout for avenues. However, if you plant an avenue in a 2x2 square, then it looks like a roundabout until to bring a road (etc) into it. It might not be pretty, but it does help to reduces intersection congestion.

TRUE! Simtropolis is like a Utopia...it scares me a little. I've been to sooo many forums where there are absolutely little rules and no one complains--threads would go off topic so badly, it was funny and entertaining. Simtropolis complains so much about double posting and caps, I mean c'mon, these things happen on accident and there are newbies. Look at the forum rules--how many times has it been view: about 9,000, last I checked.
