the only words that I can think to say when I see your region compared to actual maps is,
Oh my g0d, oh my g0d, oh my g0d!.

your airport recreation is nearly exact.

your city journal is like a living breathing map!

I can see it now, New Interactive World Atlas, by JerseyDevil!

keep it up man!

    Edmonton November 22nd
    Record breaking winter heat...

Edmonton is normally -4C for a nice day time high and night time lows of -12C or so this time of year. Even winter tempatures of -4C are amazingly rare. Today we hit +18C... along with a whole week of double digit tempatures. The river should be freezing over too but....

So I decided to go mountain biking today. Later in the year then I have even gone before. To live this far north and be mountain biking in 18C a month before Christmans is very weird. 2 years ago on the same day we had to outdoor hockey games at -29C with 55,000 people watching the likes of Wayne Gretzky play one last time along with many other legends.

Many times when I go mountain biking I take pictures of Edmontons river. I have shown many nice green pictures of Edmonton over the years. Now its time to show a dreary brown November side of the city lol. Along with a small portion of the river valley. The west end of Downtown is all highrise residential towers that over looks the river valley.

This makes me want to start playing Sim Ciy again.
Can you tell me how to get this awsome version of edmonton.

I am quite aww struck at how detailed it is and how almost perfect you have made it.

I live in Ellerslie Crossing, which is just below and to the left of millwoods.

This is very cool. I am tempted to add all the neat updates to this map, like the anthony henday extention all the way to hwy 14 and perhaps try and extend the lrt all the way to south common.

I think our city council could use this map to better figure out how to fix this cities traffic problems. :D

Thanks for going the extra way for this map.

Edmonton is beautiful, both the real life city and the replica you've created.  Your attention to detail is mind boggling.  I've been viewing this cj all the way from the beginning and it just keeps blowing my mind!

I like Edmondon too! Perhaps I hope the city has an living core (pubs, clubs...)!

When I'll finish my studies, I'll go with a frien in Canada and Edmondon will be in our itinerary!
Keep it up this great project! 44.gif

    Edmonton Replies.....

    Sloppet :
    I am crazy 11.gif

hardtarget_x : you can get a copy off of me on MSN. newjersey73@hotmail.com . Please no request to email it. And its nice to see another Edmontonian viewing the CJ. As for expanding the LRT I already have. And Anthony Henday will be extended too on my game once I get better views of exact placement of it. I have to alter the LRT a little as city council is getting the plans more specified.

Mr. beer : Edmontons downtown has become very lively in the last ten years. With an additional 16,000 people moving into the main downtown area. Aswell as alot of new life added to it. As for clubs downtown has it's share like any other city. But West Edmonton Mall and Whyte Ave are 2 good places to go for a party. Whyte ave is one long strip on the south side that is very trendy and has alot of shops, cafes, and clubs...

Vigo_Zerox : I have a step by step tutorial a few pages back. I'm not sure exactly which one. But the short story is... Open your region folder. Then open your config with Paint. Add 1x1 red for a small city, 2x2 green for medium, and 4x4 blue for large cities. You can only add to the south or east without destroying your previously made cities. Again check out the tutorial I have....probably 3-10 pages back.

Micah : Yeah those are my pictures. I have alot of my own pictures on the CJ. Every few pages I add some.

I was wondering if we can download those cemetery tiles you have in your city. I've been looking for it but can't find them, they would be perfect for my city.

Oh oh! I'll not forget to make a tour on Whyte street 44.gif

I've a question: how do you do for your picture here above? Did you print-screen the city when you're start a city and then you make a photoshop montage or the game has a specific option for that?

The Edmonton Eskimos win the 93rd Grey Cup

After 60 minutes of what CFL fans are calling the best Grey Cup ever the game was decided in an amazing overtime. Edmonton came out with 38-35 win over Montreal. This was the 2nd time in 3yrs Edmonton beat Montreal for the Grey Cup.
Vancouver put on a great Grey Cup week with just over 59,000 attending the game. This was Edmonton's 13th Grey Cup.

    Edmonton recent replies...

Eurytus : The Cemetery Lots can be found on this link along with my Transportaion View Mod. I would recomend the mod to anyone... Once you use it you won't go back... https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?mode=files&filetype=mine&user=9485&startrow=1&category=default&show=12

Mr Beer. : To get the large transportation view there is a program called region census. I don't know why it isn't on Simtropolis. But if I remember right its on SCC.

Wow!  This is the most realistic City Journal in simtropolis!  Living in Northern Alberta myself, I have many times compared this to the real Edmonton.  There are hardly any differences.  TheJerseyDevil73, how are you going to incorporate some of the more unique Edmontonian skyscrapers such as Manulife Place, Commerce Place, or the Enbridge Tower?

    Great Job!
I lived in Cold Lake, AB for a couple years which is about a 2.5 hour drive north-east of Edmonton.  From my short time in Edmonton,i can see the realism between your version and the real thing! Your city looks really amazing, I wouldn't have the patience or skill to do that.  Have you put in Rexall Place yet?  Just wondering...

I have been thinking and planning of building a SimCity Edmonton for the longest time now (having done aborted attempts in SC 2000 and 3000). I finally drummed up the gumption to give it a go. I only stumbled on this site and this journal a couple days ago. Fantastic!

The one thing that has prevented me from going full on into building Edmonton is my poor skills at terraforming. I was amazed by your work on the terrain, and very much appreciate it if you would allow me to use it. I added you to my MSN friend list - now I just have to catch you online.

My area will be bigger, I think, because I am bound and determined to include the International Airport. Thus, my Capital region will go north to Highway 37, west to about Highway 44 (north of the Yellowhead), east to a bit past Highway 21, and south to Township Road 500 (2 miles south of Airport Road). I also had no idea until recently that the region didn't necessarily have to be a rectangle, but I'm pressing ahead.

Thanks, and cudos on the fantastic city!

I've been following this CJ for a while. This is my first post in it. You've really outdone yourself. The attention to detail is stunning.
