Hi, TheJerseyDevil73

I am the creator of the best layout of Edmonton in Sim City 3000. I am here to congratulate you for your effort and your dedication of modelling the city for Sim City 4.

It seems that your motives are the same as I was. It was impressive to see that happening. I modelled the city because no other people (as far as I know of) had modelled a city with a noticeable resemblence. I simply built the city and show it to the world.

Feel free to check out my piece of work if you or anyone still have Sim City 3000.

Edmonton Sim City 3000

My city had already been through a wild ride. As soon as your city is complete, the reputation is yours.

Again, I am very impressed by your efforts. Keep up the good work.44.gif

supersimman : thanks for welcoming everyone to page 40.

sturmnacht : That is an amazing city even from the small above overview. I still own SC3000 but I dont have it here right now so I can't DL it and see the details. I wouldn't take credit as creating the only Edmonton on SC3000. But perhaps the only one that is shown on the net. I created the entire city of Edmonton on SC3000. The same size as I'm doing now but on the obvious smaller SC3000 map. Your work on the central area of Edmonton is just great. I'll be downloading it when I get my SC3000 back.

    Edmonton March 20th

This is a small update. But I wanted to show the fragmented work I've been doing. Its hard to update the City when I jump back and forth from areas. Its nearly impossible to show anything that is complete right now. And I'm not big on showing half finished work... One reason I build like this is the city grows more evenly.

For this picture of Downtown I randomly picked 20 of 100's of possible areas to pick off. For anyone who knows the city these should stand out for them. And for those who don't as downtown goes into the 1000's of years you'll get to know it a little more.

Just popping back in. Very good CJ TJD, I am not a very big fan of true-to-real life CJs. Your CJ however is plenty good enough for me to pop in now and then to see how you are doing, great work!44.gif

    Hey Dan,

Great job, keep plugin away at this, Hope that you can get this done in less then two years, and when you get this done I bet SC5 will be out, lol all that time and only 2 hrs to look at it, then to start again.

    Oh well great job!

MTLT17 : Well the region is 21months old. I don't think it will be done in 3 months. Maybe another year or 2. And as for SC5... I am a sceptic on that coming out in the next 3years. And when it does they have already vowed to make it simple so it will gain new players and help EA make more money. So whenever and whatever SC5 turns out to be I'm not sure if I'll be its biggest fan. If someone wants a simple SC play the classic like I did for the better part of a decade. I think they should make this game alot more complex. For me to find it a challenge I have to recreate a city of 1million.

NintendoMaster128 : Well...your right...but it was the home of the Edmonton Trappers from the PCL. Because of Edmonton being so far away from other teams the travel cost for the league wasn't worth it. And after Calgary and Vancouver folded the league pulled the plug on them last year. Edmonton did very well in attendance but that wasn't enough. I think the Trappers where around for 25 years or so and won 3 championships I think... I'm not sure how accurate those numbers are... but it was sad to see them leave. Now we have the Edmonton CrackerCats in the Northern League at Telus Feild. Perhaps the worst name for a team ever.

Edmonton : I've done alot along Calgary Trail/Gateway Blvd today. Putting in 10% of the regions jobs in just a few hours today. With the job numbers going above what I need to keep R$$ growing I now have room for 20-30,000 in housing. The region should pick up some good numbers in the next few days.

    Any request?

I couldn't agree with you more on that, about SC5. If anything I would like to see get eve more complex. If I want to play a Simcity game that is less complex I would play Simcity Classic. If anything SC5 should be more complex, Like the road works, you should have to annex land rather than expanding freely...etc. The more realisum the better I'd say.

I noticed the updates slowed down, maybe if you have a chance you can show us some of those areas with the big parks northwest of the airport?

Great work with this, I'm definitely looking forward to more shots of the city.

Oh no!  They can't get rid of the Trappers!  They were for Montréal Expos too!  And they are now gone!  I live in Las Vegas, and we have our Las Vegas 51's AAA baseball team for the Dodgers, and I would always go see every Edmonton Trappers game just so I can see Andy Fox play, and I'd get to sing the American, and Canadian National Anthem!

Okay, this is taking too long, so I'll just do the lobby nitelites with the omnis, and I'll do normal nitelites with the rest of the windows.  I will update later if you wish.  I will render it tonight.1.gif

    City of Edmonton :

I have been pretty busy lately. If you look at the CJ at this time last year it somewhat stopped for a while too.

I've joined a hockey team, started Mt Biking again, and have already started doing trips to the mountains. Plus work is busy and with the nice weather I've been doing more with my family.

I haven't played SC in weeks. And its true Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Every now and then I take breaks and when I get back to the CJ I have a new found drive.

But....don't worry the CJ isn't dead. Just on a needed holiday from it. I should be back in a bit pounding out the pages. After all this CJ is nearly 2 years old and should be finished in 2007.

    Thanks for everyones patience.

Seeing this CJ I am now seriously thinking about emigrating to Edmonton.
expecting to finish it in 2007? Wow man. Can't wait.

About the overview pics I wonder where the commercial district is. It says about 100.000 workers but I wonder where.

Big up man! This is really good. Wish I had just an ounce of your dedication and passion for recreating a city. You've done a great job with Edmonton so far. 44.gif

Firstly I just want to say...and this cannot be overstated

    HOLY CRAP

Honestly, the sheer work that's gone into this is astounding. I would have got bored and played Sims 2 by about page 6.

On that note, totally unrelated, but I thought I might share a photo I took of one of the Edmonton Police band sims taking a stroll through my home city of Portsmouth in the UK.
It's off site I'm afriad, on deviantART but I thought you might get a kick out of seeing it 1.gif

    http://www.deviantart.com/view/11907309/ 49.gif

Oh and I dont want this to sound patronising, as I'm sure it will. but I just want to say that the guys from the police band were fantastic, they were so great to talk to afterwards and they did talk, at length with the couple of hundred people who were walking by and decided to watch, myself included. This guy in the photo if memory serves actually came from Londonderry.19.gif
    So there you go

Oh, just in case I hadn't highlighted it earlier, that region is <--Watch your language...might not have been the work, but way too close--> fantastic 25.gif

City of Edmonton - April 26th

I've been doing some work lately on the region boosting its population by a few thousand. And I've also been playing my region of The Monarch Coast after taking a good month or so off from the game. I've mainly placed in residential housing to get the job demands up as always.

Raindog : If your interested in moving to Edmonton lol be ready for the winters. If it wasn't for that this would be a paradise.

ost2life : The picture of the police is great. Edmonton has a rich history of WW2. We have many military and police officers that travel the world like the ones you met. And to say there from the Londonderry division is unreal since that is where I grew up and still live. Small world eh.... ;o)

Wow Jersey, this is quite fantastic. Get on MSN sometime, I NEED my hometown! 44.gif36.gif

Also, I live in the Gold Bar area, and wouldn't mind seeing a close-up with the ravine in the east, bordered by 50st in the west, 103 ave in the north, and 101 Ave as the south boundary. If it's not accurate you'll be sure to hear it! 11.gif

I 've got some pictures of the refinery complex to the east of Goldbar (in Strathcona), and I wouldn't be adverse to going on some photo walkarounds for this project, if you want that service. 48.gif
