I poke in here once in awhile but don't think I've left a comment before (or maybe I have.) No special reason for posting this time but just wanted to say how really astounding this is. The detail of the recreation is amazing and everything but honestly, with the scope and intricacy of it, I am amazed that you've kept with it. I remember when this thread was just a couple pages and it seemed like there was an awful lot of empty space on your region view and I figured you wouldn't stick with it. I'm delighted to be wrong.

    China Town Gate
This is the gate to the East end of Downtown China Town. There is also one just northwest of this area aswell.
I made this lot to resemble the gates.....Its not all that good but it was  a hard 3minutes work ;o) . I may change it or see if one ever gets BATted. But I thaught before I looked for diff options I would see what people think of this one?

that's some creative lot editing!  it's definitely close enough that anyone familiar with edmonton i'm sure would get what you're showing there, judging from the real picture.

Castledowns : I spent a good time on the roads in the Castledowns area of Edmonton. Far from an easy task but good to get under the belt. If you look at the previous page you can really see how much work I did on the area today. Heres todays update.

    Commonwealth Stadium -
was built in the late 1970's for the Commonwealth games and is home to the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos and Canadas soccer team.
The Stadium has recently hosted the 2001 World track and Field games (third most viewed games on Earth).
The Eskimos draw around 40,000 a game easily the best attendance in the CFL. Last year during an Edmonton vs Calgary game the attendance topped 64,000.
Also in 2003 the Heritage Classic was held in November with the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens Alumni and current teams playing. With Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Juri Kurri, and All the other Oiler and Canadien greats playing hockey and scraping ice during the intermission, and with tickets over $100 each and temps at -22C, 55,000 came out to watch the game which was a classic in many reguards.
And last time Brazil played Canada here for an exhibition game there was over 70,000 in the stands.
Commonwealth stadium is located NE of downtown and has an LRT (Light Rail Transit) station just across Stadium road. It is also the only pro sports field in Canada to have Natural Grass. Also considered Canada's nicest outdoor Stadium.
The smaller stadium is Clark Stadium which has been renovated since this arial photo.
This is the first draft for the area and should have some touch ups in the months to come.

Commonwealth Stadium looks a bit like Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina, U.S.A.

6.gif Your accuracy never ceases to amaze me! Even the red roof of Cox Family court has its real-life equivalent! Unbelievable.   Also, late congrats on the Trixie, that one just had to go to you!

if you keep building areas this nicely you'll have to make sure to label the real life and in game shots.  2.gif

    City Center Airport :
This Airport isn't used much, the International Airport is just south of the city. Starting next summer the City Center Airport is going to host the Edmonton Indy, a new Cart race. I laid down the straight landing strip. But the other and most of the airport is at 45  degree angles. I'm not sure how to make it even look half decent? Here is a regional pic where you can somewhat see. As it grows I will take some up close photos.

I believe Commonwealth Stadium is the largest Stadium in Canada..It can hold close to 70 000 people at full capacity.  Its insane when full.

This is by request for Feepa,
Some shots of residential areas. This is Westmount. And for tomorrow I should have Sherbrooke finished for him just to the North of this photo. This area needs brushed up a little.
