    Trolca,

You and BRF are doing great work on the SC4 trains. I have downloaded all of them, as they provide great variety to the freight going out of my cities. You both do great work! Keep it up.

Looks great. Just about the same design as a Lionel switcher I own, maybe you could make a version in red, with just small numbers on the side, and a single headlamp on each end to match my engine. I would much appreciate it.

That's so sweet, I get a switcher!  I look up from applying bug-fixes and adjustments to my sets and there's a locomotive there.  And it's not even my birthday.  Thank you, Trolca!  This one'll look right at home in my freight yards.

Great progress on the SD40. It has been well worth the effort. 44.gif
I don't mean to be rude by asking so many questions, but have you made any progresson the F-Unit project?

I love it!  That gray SD has kind of a Clinchfield vibe to it.

Looks like my GP9s are getting retired to switching... oh wait, I have a new switcher.  We'll bolt on some HEP kits and put them on passenger duty, that's what we'll do.  Make way for the gray!

Seriously, thank you Trolca, it means a lot.

    Trolca -

Regarding the new BN caboose, I have 2 issues.

    - I don't really see it in game, or any of the bay line caboose files I'm using. All of my freight trains seem to be caboose-less. This could just be amazing coincidence.

    - I do see the new BN caboose pop up among the autospawn freight activity at Kralore's Freight lot (non-cp rail version). Here, the skin on the caboose is all messed up. BN logo on the roof, yellow railing paint is on the side of the car, etc. Anyone else with this caboose seeing these problems?

Check your plugins folder to see if you're running an old file Trolca released called LastCarVarietyNoCaboose.dat.  It prevents cabooses.  If you don't have this file installed, then we'll just have to wait for Trolca to respond.  I think some of his freight cars are also seen by the game as cabooses, but I don't know the details about which ones.

As for the problem with the freight lot, I know what that is.  It's an issue with the Gizmo prop packs.  Gizmo copied the S3D files for all those cars, so the Maxis models are always used.  However, he didn't copy the FSH files (skins) in all cases, so what you're seeing is the Maxis caboose with Trolca's skin on it.  This is an issue with the Gizmo props in general; I've personally seen the Maxis locomotive and one of the Maxis boxcars do this same thing.  The real solution is for Gizmo to re-build his packs so that they either use the S3D files already installed, or else copy the FSH files into his pack also.  For now, I usually pop open the Lot Editor and remove/replace the offending props to get around this.

EDIT: I could have worded things better, I came off kind of hard on Gizmo.  Apologies for that, it was unintentional.

All my train car props  have the 3d models and fsh files in the dat, only way that would happen would be if i missed some since i did like 200 at one time or someone used the old first dat that was released when i first made the props, which i no longer support, I posted a while ago on this that lots made with the props should be updated or removed, seems some people didnt because i  still get questions on the old set and that was the only one where put the exemplars in one dat and the  models and fshs in another, the only set that doesnt have 3d models in the dat,  is the maxis set of props, any car that doesnt display right in any of the other sets is  a bug, and if people dont report them how am i supposed to know it has to be fixed, all i need is the exemplar number that shows for the car prop when u look at it in the lot editor.

The file name for the BN caboose is RHCabBurlingtonNorthern_Original.DAT. Any time the word original shows in the file name, the original is being replaced with engine/car in the DAT file. In this case, you can only have one original replacement for cabooses. If the file had a hexadecimal number instead of the word original, it could be used in addition to the original as long as another DAT file didn't have the same number in its name.

I plan on reworking each set before I place them in the STEX. I'll make a Bay Line SD40 then.

Click on Most Active at the top of the page. There are some active threads with more posts. Most likely there are some inactive ones as well.

For now, here's another BN caboose. This one isn't an original replacement.

I've decided that I need a few weeks away from modding. I've been working on train alterations for the past ten or so months without breaks. In that time I haven't played any. I might try to get some where with a city journal that I started last summer.

I will take a look at that lot tonight to see if I messed up somewhere or if something else is going on. I used gizmo's Maxis_Traincar_Props_E-V3.dat for the non CP lot and he has said the maxis dat is done slightly different then the other train prop dats. If an update is needed I will post one as soon as possible.
